Is the Decades Collection of The Graduate the original non-anamorphic SE or the 40th Ann Edition?

The back of the DVD states: 2.35:1 Widescreen. Nothing about 16x9 or anamorphic enhancement.

That being said, a poster on Amazon said that he got it for Christmas in 2007, popped it into his player and it was anamorphic.

Sounds like a crapshoot to me.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to a store in Louisville today and there was an obvious reseller checking out with two of the flat boxes full of DVDs. There was only one old lady checking people out, so the checkout line stretched back into the store while the cashier scanned each DVD one at a time. The cashier was ticked off, the people in line were ticked off and I was ticked off because, needless to say, there wasn't anything worth having left in the store when I looked.

Oh yeah, forgot about The Outlaw Josey Wales. I think it's a bad sign when you can't remember all the movies you just bought.

Angel Face (Mitchum)
Sweet Bird of Youth (Newman)

Yep. Really.

Not counting television DVDs, stand up comedy, music DVDs and so on it's "only" over 1100 (ie, straight-ahead movies)

hah, yeah well I also have netflix which kind of gets in the way because I feel like I'm not using their service to its full advantages if I'm not watching what I have from them first. If only I could add 4 to 6 hours to each day of the week.

12 Angry Men, Guys and Dolls, Some Like it Hot (from the 50s)

Carrie, Fidler on the Roof, Mad Max (from the 70s)
MoonStruck, the Sure Thing, When Harry Met Sally (from the 80s)
I did some searching on Amazon and DVD Basen for details about these "Decade Collections" and came up with zippo on DVD-Basen, very little info on Amazon, and lots of vendors selling them (with no details) on Google. For example, 1 comment on Amazon about Mad Max Decades says it has a touched up picture and does NOT include the American English dubs, and not a word is said about the extras that used to be on the flipside. The case of the Decades Collection DVD of 12 Angry Men does not mention any extras whereas the Collector's Edition mentions lots of extras. Then of course there is a CD with some number of unlisted songs in each Decades DVD. Unfortunately Amazon chooses to mix customer reviews for all versions (including VHS) of their movies, so extracting the relevant ones from hundreds would be too time consuming.

Could anyone who has bought any of the Decades Collections for the DVDs so far seen at Big Lots (12 Angry Men, The Graduate, Carrie, and Mad Max) please post if the Decades Collection has all of the same extras and transfers as the previous edition(s) and what songs are on the CDs? Without that info it's almost impossible to know if these are good deals or just stripped down (missing extras) DVDs with a bonus CD of music I may or may not like or already have.

I only got The Graduate and Carrie.

The Graduate is non anamorphic, 2.0 surround. Special features: documentary, interview with Dustin Hoffman, and theatrical trailer. Life magazine bookelet inside case. Basically it's this version: http://www.amazon.com/Graduate-Special-Dustin-Hoffman/dp/B00000K0DS/ref=cm_cr_dp_orig_subj

60s CD contains: California Dreamin', It's My Party, Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Wild Thing, Baby Love, I Cant Help Myself, My Girl, Wooly Bully. All by the original artists.

Carrie is anamorphic, 5.1 surround. The special features are the same as this version: http://www.amazon.com/Carrie-Special-Sissy-Spacek/dp/B00005K3NR/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1264375604&sr=1-1

My copy of Carrie did not contain a CD or Life booklet like it states on the back cover. It had the empty tray where the CD goes. Maybe others can check their copy to see if it was shipped that way. I didn't care as I only wanted the movie.

When these were sold at Wal-mart a few years ago, they had a slip cover.

Private Benjamin
Protocol
Tango & Cash
Assassins
The Candidate (FS)
The Neverending Story II
The Jackie Robinson Story (B&W + colorized)
Dirty Harry
Wolfen
The Illustrated Man

Bristol, PA had:
The Big Red One (Reconstructed)
Red Sonja
SNL Best of Oteri/Spade/Baldwin/TV Funhouse
Brainstorm (2009 release, refreshed from last year)
Eastern Promises (FS)
They Died with Their Boots On

Both stores had:
Roger & Me
Punch Drunk Love
The Main Event (Streisand)

US Marshals
Wrongfully Accused
Police Academy 2
Police Academy 3
City by the Sea
Divine Madness
Memphis Belle
Lost In America

Most of these are slashed snappers.

Picked up Wolfen, Lost in America, and Roger & Me from the NJ store and The Man Who Knew Too Much, Judgement Night, SNL Best of Alec Baldwin, and SNL Best of TV Funhouse from the PA store. Also bought a $3 book of Martin Amis essays, which is the first semi-decent book I've ever seen at a Big Lots.

Mine didn't have the CD either. Just like you said, empty tray for the CD but nothing there.

You are correct, I should...And you are also corrected on the CDBD. I had a sponsor briefly.

Sadly, it was only *half* tongue-in-cheek...
