Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

^And the copy I have sounds like it's identical to basaro's except for the insert. New package w/security tabs (what purpose do these serve other than to annoy?) and non-trimmed cover artwork.

Of course, the review indicates the insert is a chapter list only type. Look at it once and forever disregard...

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

If you live in Orlando Fl, and are looking for Lost Highway ( WIDEscreen ), I saw about five copies at the Big Lots #00524 ( 1880 Semoran Blvd ) location.

I also saw....

Sci Fi Boys ( documentary - FULLscreen )

Boogeymen: The Killer Compilation ( clips - can't remember if it was WIDEscreen or FULL )

Reservation Road ( Jennifer Connelly - WIDEscreen I think )

Eastern Promises ( FULLscreen only )

The Haunting ( from the 1960's and in WIDEscreen )

Casino Anniversary Ed. ( FULLscreen only - only two copies - can't remember if it was one or two disc )

I went there today and there were a lot! of DVDs. They had a ton in the usual spot and then another large display set up down the main walkway. I just picked up two: Shaft's Big Score and The Last Starfighter. There were some other movies I would have snagged, but they were full-screen. Boo. I might zing over to Bristol to see what they have there.

Should be single disc flipper. Don't think the 2 disc was ever released outside the Gangsters boxset it was included in.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

oh damn, you guys are making me jealous with these hitchcock finds. i hope i can find marnie, the man who wasn't there, the trouble with harry, and torn curtain.

i did find saboteur which i picked up a few weeks ago and i saw i confess (which is greeeeat) but i already owned it.

also the man who wasn't there is an awesome movie frome the coen brothers that i noticed has been popping up and i would highly recommend that if anyone hasn't seen it.

i really hope my BLs gets some new stuff in, especially these hitchcocks and lost highway, i haven't seen anything new there in a few weeks and i just went the other day.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I've never been able to get into Hitchcock, though I'm a huge classics fan & like a lot of Noir. I haven't even been able to make it through The Man Who Knew Too Much even though I'm also a huge Peter Lorre fan. It may be because i despised his TV show as a child.

My question: Are any of the Hitchcock films showing up at BL likely to change my mind?

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Wow, I'm a huge Hitchcock fan, I picked up Saboteur a while back when that was the only one showing up, it's one of my favorite Hitchcock movies, if not only b/c it features a disgusting bearded lady in a few scenes.

So so far the Hitchcock movies that are showing up are... Marnie, The Man Who Knew Too Much, The Trouble with Harry, I Confess, Torn Curtain and Saboteur? I will have to go check my Big Lots today and see if I can pick up any of the ones I'm missing....

...also Lost Highway would be nice to have.

well i'm assuming the version of the man who knew too much is the jimmy stewart one not the peter lorre movie, which is good but not top level hitchcock. saboteur is good as well though to me felt like a lead up to something like north by northwest. haven't seen a few of the others, I Confess though i think is fantastic and one of hitchcock's most under appreciated films.

though some of his best i know of you won't find there, i'd highly recommend seeing notorious, shadow of a doubt, psycho, rear window, vertigo, and strangers on a train if you haven't.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Birds of America (Matthew Perry, Ben Foster), a great indie flick I really enjoyed. I've only seen a single copy at two Big Lots that I've been to.

The Man Who Knew Too Much is the Jimmy Stewart one. I already had it. I have most of the good ones already I'm more interested in the lesser known titles

Well today I pick-up The Killing Fields (they had just one copy) and The Man Who Knew Too Much (I love this version not a Lorre fan).
There were a few new titles that I have seen before-WB doc of the history of Warner Brothers,The Prince And The Showgirl (Monroe and Oliver),

No luck on any of them, but...

Awesome I'll have
to make a road trip. I found the man who knew too much at two locations: orange on tustin and I believe taft, and the other on lincoln in Anaheim. The orange store had quite a number of the new movies.
