It helps if you dress the part: mullet extensions, a wife beater and authentic stone washed jeans from 1992.

I did a blind buy (or so I thought) on this simply because it's a sequel to "A Christmas Story" at $3. When I watched it I discovered that I *had* seen it before on TV... one of the cable channels, but it's been a while. It's no "A Christmas Story" but it's not bad. Were it not for all the actors being different people, and that it's during the summer months, I'd have thought I was watching the out takes.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Is it just me or does the latest Big Lots selection just suck?

I haven't been to Big Lots in two weeks and from what is being posted nothing sounds interesting. I miss the Warner Classic titles that we once saw at BL, not to mention the tv box sets.

I can only hope there will be another shipment. It would be great if all the tv box sets that Walmart (see post) is shipping back to the manufacturer would show up at BL at a discount.

The $5 selection seemed pretty average to me, but I think we have become spoiled by $3 box sets. Hopefully the $5 experiment will not be viewed as successful and we'll get another batch of $3 gems.

Same here, I got almost all my classic gangster flicks I own there. The Roaring Twenties for 3 dollars? Now that is a hell of a deal, not some mediocre somewhat recent stuff for more. Plus I wanted to see more than those two Lewton double features and more Thin Man movies. Come on BL, don't let me down.

I only saw two $5 movies that were actual bargains: Saturday Night Fever and Face/Off: Collector's Edition.

The rest were stuff that Best Buy routinely puts on sub $5 sales from time to time or routinely litters the $2.50 shelf at the nearby used store.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

There's another crummy batch of Paramounts. These are all $10 3 movie sets. Some are in a single case with (I assume) 2 dvd's, some are 2 & 3 packs with separate cases taped together, & a few are in mini box sets. NOTHING worth buying imo; "highlights" would have been a Bad News Bears 3 disc mini box, a couple Tom Cruise mini boxes & a couple Nicholas Cage mini boxes. This batch is all weaker titles mostly from the last 15 years or so, & is the kind of stuff that they would have previously sold for $3 (the single cases) - to $5 or $6.

The surprising thing is that at least in this store (Pearl Tacoma), in the few weeks they've been around I'd say over 3/4 of the $5 Paramounts have sold. Not a good sign.

Spotted these this evening... From the available, I picked up Mission: Impossible - Ultimate Missions Collection. M:i-2 and M:i:III are double discers which makes it a 5 disc *space saving* digipak.

Other than that title, the Nick Cage Collection might be of interest to some here... Face/Off CE, Snake Eyes, World Trade Center in thinpak cases.

Yes. There is one other Nicholas Cage collection that has this movie (I think), but I haven't been able to find it anywhere to find out if it's anamorphic or not.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went into one of my local BLs... the remnants of the $3 titles are very slowly dwindling down to nothin... Did pick up the boxed set of Mission Impossible 1-3 for $10.. which I hadn't seen before... that's close enough to $3/per :-)

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

A wrinkle in the Paramount titles. The Lehigh St.,Allentown,Pa. store has a 3pack of Nickleodeon titles for $10:"Charlotte's Web"(2006),"Jimmy Neuton:Boy Genius" and "The Wild Thornberrys Movie". All widescreen. These were not in the rack on Friday(3/5),but were available Sunday(3/7). Interesting that the "Charlotte's Web" DVD had a $5 Big Lots tag ending with the UPC code 010. There was a white label over that, with the other two titles stuck to each other with a single piece of clear tape but no price stickers on them. The entire 3 pack was shrink wrapped with a $10 Big Lots tag with a UPC ending with 010. These were shrink wrapped by Big Lots, probably at at a central sourc eand done pretty well. Store-level shrink machines tend to leave the item loose fitting. So the question is:were these 3 packs ever considered to be sold for five bucks each or did they purposely decide to put these titles together(there were about three of these sets available, all identical)after tagging the CW title. It is possible that either Paramount or a third party involved in this purchase did this under Big Lots authority, but clearly a decision was made after these titles were selected for Big Lots. Do the action three packs that others have seen have similar tagging setups? This store had 3 pack one with a Nick Cage title,an MI title and something else, but I didn't pay much attention because I have no interest in them.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Big Lots in West Babylon today. They seem to have a large amount of the $3 and $5 titles. I picked up Chinatown: Centennial Edition and The Naked Gun for 3 bucks each. The $3 was mostly Paramounts; all the Bad News Bears movies, 48 Hours, Naked Gun series, etc. They also had a lot of the triple features, Nic Cage and Samuel L. Jackson. I was tempted to bite on the MI trilogy.
