Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Sterling, VA location:

Yesterday, I bought:
Memories (Katsuhiro Otomo anime)
Vexille
Stephen King's Nightmares & Dreamscapes
Offside (Iranian movie by Jafar Panahi)
The Road to Guantanamo
Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles : The Hydora Campaign (finally)

Well, I just hope other Roughnecks titles (Tesca Campaign and Trackers) will find their way to Big Lots to complete my collection

They got a lot of previously viewed DVD priced $3 too, but nothing impressed me.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stoppd by yesterday and they had a bunch of the PV dvds for $3. Here are some of the titles I saw:

Taken
Milk
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Bangkok Dangerous
The Comebacks unrated
There Will Be Blood
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
The Haunting of Molly Hartley
Australia
The Day the Earth Stood Still
War (starring Jet Li)
Pineapple Express
Shoot'em Up
Stop Loss
Vantage Point
Cloverfield
Max Payne unrated
Good Luck Chuck
Never Back Down

Since these were ex-rentals I was reluctant to buy any, but I ended up buying Elizabeth The Golden Age and I was surprised! The disk was mint, no scratches, no fingerprints, no smudges and no rental stickers.

Cleaned out here except for the same back catalog that's been on the floor for ~2 months, and it shrank by about 1/4. *ALL* the $3 PVd titles were sold and I only saw 2-3 of the $6 ones.

Awaiting the "new" WB titles...

I'm keeping an eye out for Pluto, Trackers, and Tesca. I don't remember seeing those three in any of the previous Big Lots threads.

I bought Roughnecks: Trackers at a BL about 6 months ago.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stopped by another Biglots today and the $3 PV dvds were about half gone judging by the amount of empty space.

Saw the following PV dvds:

Leatherheads
Eagle Eye
W.
You Don't Mess With the Zohan - Unrated
The Darjeeling Limited

Saw the following from the new Warner restock:

Wyatt Earp 2 disc SE
Blood & Chocolate (English & French cover)

I bought the W. PV dvd. There was only one faint scratch about half an inch, otherwise the disc was mint. No rental sticker.

Thanks for your info. BTW, looks like I still need Pluto Campaign too like Tap said.

Thanks, good to know. Only Pluto and Tesca haven't made a showing, then.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Based on other's posts I just bought 2 of the pre-viewed. I'm curious what the story is on them. Mine aren't brand new, but I've never seen pv's this clean. One was 9 of 10 condition, one was 8 of 10. If I'd have known would have grabbed W & Twilight yesterday.

Based on the feedback in this thread... I'm wondering if they found a cheap source to resurface them (or if there is a new way in the rental biz). Flawless discs as rentals? No chance.

From my experience, it's really hard to make resurfaced dvd's look this good. They have a different finish then cd's, which are easier to clean.

Mind you if they are machine cleaned, fine with me......

This should be in the hot deals forum, but while at big lots I picked up five boxes of "star Trek" pop tarts for $1.20 each. The mail in $12 movie voucher offer is still good. $6 for 5 boxes & a free $12 movie ticket.

Sounds like a great deal. What was the expiration date on the movie ticket deal and is it one you send off for, or do you go online to redeem a code?

6/30/10 is the offer expiration. You have to mail 5 vouchers, one per box, for the ticket. It took quite a while for the first ticket I sent for months ago, but it is good for any movie. I think it expires 90 days from date of issue , I don't remember.

Over the weekend I saw "Science Of Sleep" at two different stores (WV and PA). A really amazing movie that I already bought when it first came out.

Thanks for posting that. I have 2 empty boxes already that I thankfully hung onto, so I'll go there to hopefully get 3 more boxes...

Actually, if it's done right it will look EXACTLY like its brand new. Only poor resurfacing machines + users leave a mark or pattern. Hastings stores do a pretty good job at resurfacing, as did some game stores and pawn shops in OKC (oklahoma).

Exactly what he said. I have a machine. They can be made to look new but not all places know how to use their machines.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

^Yep. I've gotten a few from Hastings that were scratched so badly they wouldn't play at all. Their buffer/resurfacer fixed *all* problems and the disk(s) looked like new. Of course I always wondered just why they would sell disks in such bad shape to start with since their cost to resurface/polish is pennies.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Found this past Friday..

White Heat
Austrailia
It happened on 5th Avenue
Picture Snapper
They Died with their Boots On
Jezebel
Harper
The Law and Jake Wade
The Lost Patrol
The Big Sleep
The Diamond of Jeru- Louis Lamour title
Holiday Affair
Last chance Harvey
The Cincinnati Kid
4 Pack John Wayne Collection
Key Largo

Didn't find Taken at any of the two locations I stopped at. Austrailia was a pv but not a scratch or fingerprint on it. Last chance Harvey had a few scratches but looks 100% since I cleaned it a bit.

Re: Big Lots Part 7 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Finally finally finally! Scored a copy of the long sought-after 2-disc Restoration of "The Big Red One". They had 2 copies. Also had most of the Warner oldies mentioned above but I ended up putting most of those back. I had originally picked up about 30 titles, but eventually came to my senses and ended up leaving with "only" 10.

The Clementon, NJ store has several copies of the Bond box sets. Only other notables were Bulworth and the Game of the Year edition of Dreamfall.

Can you recommend a specific machine (hopefully well under $500) that will do dvd's PERFECTLY? I'm using the $127 Simo which will make cd's look 100% like new when the cleaning supplies are well manufactured (quality varies from batch to batch), but tends to leave some buffing marks in dvd's.
