Re: Big Lots Part 6

Austin, TX seems to be tapped out of the $3 HB set assortments. Pharmer Ln, Round Rock, Spicewood Springs, Airport... NOTHING.

I called one location and they told me they had some stuff left but when I got there all they had was some Superfirneds single disc sets.

That is correct. SuperFriends sets are part of the $6 sets sale from a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

I avoid buying those 50 movie pack sets because all of the movies on them are public domain and you can download them all for free off archive.org.

This is a good thought. I think the big question is whether or not the stores will ever get enough of these at once to justify advertising them as a special sale.

If they get, say, 4-5 per store and advertise the sale hoping to bring in big crowds, look out...it could be worse than Black Friday stampedes.

Superfriends vol 2 is available in both shipments. The first shipment they are $6, in the second they are $3. (I just returned the $6 ones yesterday).

Until yesterday.

You see, I'm on vacation for 2 weeks(beginning yesterday), so to kick things off, my girl and I planned a trip to St. Louis to see some Cardinals/Dodgers action. So I figured I'd use this event as an opportunity to treasure hunt. All weekend--I'm doing intel--I'm printing out maps--I'm on a mission.

The plan was to visit my store at opening, then move on to the other 4 as we make our way to the stadium. We walk in...Jackpot!!! All the $10 sets were out(although they appeared to be intentionally obscured by a display of High School Musical cereal). All this hype...I didn't know what to do! hahaha. Eventually, I came to my senses and got what I wanted. The euphoria still fills my brain.

We ended up visiting the other stores as well. Nothing. So...good thing. Plus, as a bonus, Cards win!!

I've yet to notice anyone speak of the Cape Girardeau Big Lots. This is a notice to anyone who frequents that store and this site to contact me....maybe we can join forces.
I would love to join forces with you.
If I could get some love on a Looney Tunes and a Super Bowl box set!!!
I live in St. Charles, MO and I think I've been to every big lots in the area except for the Kingshighway location.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

There were no new DVDs on my local stores truck from yesterday. Zilch. And they condensed all the other $3 titles in with what was left of the old boxsets, so it's a giant mess. The assistant manager told me they've gotten several of those LT boxes in but one guy shows up every morning and has bought all of them thus far (something like 10 or 12). She herself was waiting for the Thundercats boxes, but they never got them at that store.

Oh well.

They had a lot a $6 sets I hadn't seen there before:
ER
Dallas
Knots Landing
Friends
the Drew Carey Show
the Jamie Foxx Show
Roots
Blade
Wonder Woman (seasons 2 & 3)
Super Friends vol 2
Smallville season 4
Smallville season 7 (blu-ray)
football DVDs (I think it was Broncos maybe?)

For new $3 sets they had:
Everwood
Flintstones Seasons 2, 4, 6 (all unsealed, plenty of 2, two copies of 4 & 6)
Adventures of Superman seasons 2, 3/4, 5/6 (one copy each)
The Warner Bros Academy Awards set (2 copies)
Superman Theatrical Serials collection (3 copies)

I bought Blade, Super Friends, Flintstones 4 & 6, Adventures of Superman 2, 3/4, 5/6, the Academy Awards collection and the Superman Theatrical Serials collection (for trade). I can't help but wonder what I missed by not going earlier. I have a feeling I probably missed Adventures of Superman season 1, Flintstones season 5 and the Wonder Woman collection. However, who knows what they might have in the back.
Nice. I was there yesterday afternoon and did not see most of that stuff, so it was fresh this morning. I went to Nashua, NH and it was picked over. 1 popeye left, some flinstones, tom and jerry two packs and some old $6 sets. There is either stuff still coming in or it is all hidden out back. According to a previous post the truck should come through this part of New England on Wednesday.

yeah, I've pretty much decided to give up the hunt and resign myself that I'm not going to find a Looney Tunes set. If it shows up by chance at the BL 200 yards from where I work, ok. But, no nore driving to York, Harrisburg, and Reading PA to try and find stuff. IF the Universe wants me to have it, it will come to me. If not, I'll rent it from Netflix and burn it.

I don't know. The $3.00 sets officially started Sunday July 26th in the Dayton, OH area and I know some stores had nothing on the shelf that day. Seems to me the violence would have already been on the news if anything was going to happen about Big Lots stocking policies.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

I emailed Big Lots with "THE" sku and this is the response I received today-

Good afternoon,

Thank you for contacting Big Lots Customer Care Department. Unfortunately, we are not currently able to help with your inquiry as the MEMOREX 25 PACK CDR (sku# 550015483) you are looking for is not currently available in CA. The majority of our merchandise is closeout merchandise and is constantly changing. Due to the nature of our business - buyouts, closeouts and special one-time buys - we must limit our sale to stock on hand and cannot place orders for the merchandise once it is gone. We strive to always offer fresh merchandise in our stores and online in order to create an exciting, bargain-hunting atmosphere.
It is possible that this item or a similar item may be available again sometime in the future.

Thank you again and have a nice day.

Probably just laying some ground work to get some stimulus money because the DVD market is just too big to allow to fail.

I made a round trip from Deland-Orange City-Sanford-Longwood-Casselberry-Orlando (Edgewater Dr)-Apopka-Eustis. My Big Lots joyride lasted 3 hours & probably cost me about $7.00 in gas but I guess it was worth it. It was like an scavenger hunt to figure out where the dvds are in different stores. No 2 stores are just alike.
