Re: Big Lots Part 6

Stopped by the Biglots on Sepulveda & Sherman Way (Van Nuys, CA) and they have the $3 set assortment out with the sign up on a freestanding 4 sided regular metal shelf. (They threw the remaining $6 sets, including Joey S1, with the other dvds in the separate electronics section.)

Saw the following:

Flintstones 2,3,4,5 (5 was unwrapped)
Tales of the Crypt 2,3,4,5 (there was only one copy of 2)
Adventures of Superman (George Reeves) S5/6
Lois & Clark 1,3,4
Topcat
Appleseed steelbook
Dastardly & Muttley
Wacky Races
Popeye
Jacque Cousteau River Collection

I think they had some others, but with all this boxset frenzy, my mind has turned to mush...

Re: Big Lots Part 6

I lost track of how many Big Lots I went to today ... my head is still spinning from all the store hopping ... haha. Anyway, I spotted these titles during my exploring ... but who knows how long they'll stay in stock:

Lois And Clark S1,2,4 (bought the last S4)
Josie and the Pussycats Complete
Popeye Vol.1
Birdman
Penolope Pitstop Complete
Flintstones (all seasons except 1 and 6)
Dastardly & Muttley
Jacque Cousteau River Collection
Birdman Complete
Larry King Interviews

One store I stopped by says they won't be putting out any new stuff until next weekend, which is weird since the sale officially starts this weekend! This store was also almost completely picked over of HB cartoon sets.

Good luck, everyone!

It's been mentioned. Picked one up myself. I think blurays have a harder plastic coating than DVDs so it was probably fine despite being a floater.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Any more details on which Doctor Who DVDs those are? Considering two different Bakers have played the Doctor saying the Doctor after Baker could be Peter Davison or Sylvester Mccoy. I figure you mean Davison but I'm not certain.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Went to my local Big Lots and still no $3 sets. Asked up front about them and the lady said there in the back. Said to just keep checking back. So I'm thinking either tomorrow or Sunday.

I don't know if this has been posted, because it wasn't on my radar, but I couldn't resist when I saw it, today I picked up Superman The Animated Series Volume One and Batman The Animated Series Volume one shrinkwrapped together for $3... $1.50 a set.

I would guess $.05 each if you're lucky. Even though you've said no local sellers have hit yet you have to keep in mind that this is a national chain and prices tend to be reflected across the nation even if local stock is rare.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Tomorrow's my birthday. All I want is to go to the Danvers MA store and find some of the $3 sets I don't have yet. Is that too much to ask?

Close.

Lois and Clark Season 1 $3.00

http://www.wherehouse.com/movies/sel...jsp?id=2515758

Lois and Clark Season 3 $.05

http://www.wherehouse.com/movies/sel...jsp?id=2582672

Wherehouse is a very accurate indicator of what you would get at FYE(usually it's a little less at FYE). So your $6 plus tax investment will net you $3.60 in return(FYE doesn't accept an item for trade-in if it scans for under $1).

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Went to 1 local store & called one. Store I went to had several boxes filled with mostly mediocre New Line titles with a little bit of Warners & MGM mixed in & some of the public domain 50 film boxes for $9.

Called the 2nd closest store to ask about $3 boxes & $10 boxes. Was told only 4 titles on the $3.00 sets & none of the $10's.

A few of the better New Line/Warner/Mgm New titles:
Throw Mama From The Train
King Kong (1933 1 disc)
About Schmidt
Kansas City
Little Vampire
Sex & The City The Movie
Assassination Of Richard Nixon
State & Main

I'm starting to lose hope on the Looney Toons sets. I haven't seen any of the $10 boxes in Washington state.

AHAHAHAHA, all you suckers burning gas. I live within walking distance of the Harrisburg, PA Big Lots.

Now if only they'd get something I want in, it would make all of my hikes worth it. Only DVD set I found there besides shelfwarmers like Joey was Pinky/Brain vol. 2.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

I did not go to big lots, today. first time in many days. Rexxriot, happy birthday! I think you should ask for $10 sets, too, and leave a couple for me. I don't know what the deal is with Danvers, but if you can get in and find your way out, Lynn, MA had $3 stuff 2 days ago.

When you hover over the dvd's in the interactive ad online, it says that the $3 dvd sets are good starting on Saturday 7/25. Does Big Lots' ad cover saturday to saturday?

Was this at Oakdale? Went to Prescott for the first time in a week today and it was tapped out. Thankfully it does appear that the $3 sets are held off til Sunday as they had zippo, otherwise I would've missed them while I was out of town!

I usually eat a couple of cheap burritos before I start my trek. That way I never get low on gas.

Re: Big Lots Part 6

Went to the Derby(CT) store tonight....Quite a few Flinstone S2 Left (most wrapped)
A few Popeye V1...A number of the 9 dollar sets left on top. Some Joey too (4 left)
The set I'm looking to grab is Johnny Quest. With every stop at BL I have been buying some of the others gems (still no JQ) While you are there scenario I might as well buy that--and with what I added to my collection combined with what I paid --can't complain.
Maybe try not looking for it the next time I hit BL and it will be there.

I bought that Cousteau set when it was pretty new. Probably cost about $25 then. Hard to believe it's going for $3 now. What a steal, if you can find it.

I have made a few trips to two local stores lately but haven't found much in the way of any of these sets. Probably would pick up just the IMAX or Looney Tunes boxes if I found them. Then I'd go buy a lottery ticket since the odds of winning are about the same.

All I saw yesterday were some copies of the older sets from a few weeks ago (Roots: Next Generation, West Wing, etc.) and one copy of the History of Rock and Roll, which I did not buy. It also appears that lots of MGM titles reported by a few others here recently arrived...mostly older stuff like Frogs, the full screen Dances with Wolves, etc. Probably at least ten copies of each of these. One store had them in the free-standing cardboard display.
