I guess it depends how much it bothers you. It sounds like it plays. So I not sure TRSI will take the extra length to do this since the product is discontinued.

Yeah, the dvds are playable. I just checked with NeroCD/DVD if all files are readable and saw the DVD on the PC (checked scenes, features, fast-forward and back during the playtime).

I am ok as long as the DVD is readable and i can watch the show

Big Lots has Appleseed Ex Machina (2-disc CE steelbook) for $3 in their latest shipments. YMMV as to finding it.

A million thanks for the Dragon Box info, WTK. I just canceled my order for all the box sets from DD after reading the news. The cropped releases really bothered me, but I didn't think Funimation would do another release (at least no so soon), so I went for it.

I am pretty sure this is just an upscale. So its probably not really going to look any better than the DVD version (depending on your setup).

I am really torn by the Dragon box news. I just received the shipping notice from Deep Discount for DBZ Season 9 (I already have 1-8) and 3 of the DBZ Blu-Ray double features back on Saturday.

Wait, how do you know it's just an upscale? Do you know something we don't? Also, an upscale doesn't mean it won't look better than the old DVD release- it should regardless, plus we'll get improved sound too.

It started airing before Samurai 7, Gonzo's first high definition production. The OVA on the other hand should be in HD though.

in case it hasn't been mentioned already, i was at FYE yesterday and all the $9.99 Funi/Geneon on sale previously had been reduced to $7.99. and i'm not sure but i think a few new ones are on sale for $12.49.

I have a question about the anime "Tenjho Tenge".

Rightstuf has two DVD Box sets, both same title, same price ($75).

Whats the difference? One is a "big" DVD Box Set and the other one is thinpak?

This one (pd12955) is the singles housed inside a chipboard artbox. This one (pd13033) is clear brick case with a slipcover (this also take less space). The disc contents are the same for both releases.

Does it looks like the Boxset from Funimation (Kanon, Rozen Maiden) thinpak cases in a small box? Or is it like the Vandread Thinpak Box (one bigger box with dvd inlays?)

No thinpaks are involved with this release. This is like the clear brick releases used for Tenchi in Tokyo, Tenichi Universe, and Vandread (Geneon / 2nd Release). The case is similar to this (but it will clear) and with a slipcase (with some foil).
