CDs are not part of this sale.
From the small print at the bottom of the orange notice:
Offer valid on currently available DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, Storage Units and "Fun Stuff" only. Pre-release items are not included in the sale. Coupons do not apply to Video Games, CDs, Books, Electronics, Cell Phones, Fragrances (darn!), or Magazines. Coupon may only be used once per customer. See site for details on the lowest price guarantee. We reserve the right to limit quantities. Sale dates are 7/17/09-8/02/09.

Good to know, Jay. Yeah, that's the reason I ask...I have quite a bit of credit left with DvdPlanet and I want to make sure they are participating in the sale this year as well.

I want to try the bing.com thing but I have to register a windows live account. Does it cost anything for a cashback account or a windows live account ? In the microsoft license agreement, I saw a service charge and payment section but it doesn't say anything about prices.

How I met your Mother Sets are $15.xx right now....but i can't tell what, if any, sale they are part of...does anyone know? Should I get them before the sale or wait?

Also curious about the Bud Boetticher westerns set...it's only $30 right now....also doesn't appear to be part of any particular sale.

They jacked up the price of the 1-disc "Quantum of Solace" so that when the sale hits it'll be only a net 5% savings, and it wasn't part of any prior promotions that I know of...

I'm always disappointed when coupons can only be run once. If you are going to allow someone to have 25% off of 60 items in their shopping cart then why not 4 smaller orders, etc. (Unless they really get hammered on the free shipping, and this is a way to cut down on that). Either way, I am much more prone to make a bunch of orders over the space of the promotion, than just one large order.

There's multiple coupon codes that are out there each time they've held a sale in the past. From the top of my head there's been "USATODAY", "DVDTALK", "ESPN", etc... I wouldn't worry about having to make just one overly large order.

When putting together your orders, it's recommended to use the DVDTALK code for your largest order.

Wonder if "LATIMES" will be a valid code, since the debacle over this one earlier in the month?

I still have my order that I used that code for showing up as "processing," so I imagine that, when the sale goes live, it might ship. Or maybe it's cancelled. Who knows? A buddy told me that he thought the sale was live, so I made an order, then the fallout occurred. No big deal to me, either way, as I'll probably make 2-3 orders before it's all said and done.

Anyone else prefer it when there was no "official announcement" and it just all the sudden started one day? It was exciting. Now knowing about it (weeks) ahead of time just kind of takes some of the luster/fun out of it IMHO.

Much more excited for DVDPlanet than DeepDiscount, assuming they are running the sale also. I've got $281.00 in store credit waiting for this sale. That's some damn good buying I will be doing.

Well isn't that strange, some of the prices for items on my wishlist have actually gone down

Coraline (blu): $30.39 to $25.87
BSG complete series (blu): $239.51 to $222.76

Thanks for posting this.

I think the general tendency is that people are much more likely to report price increases than decreases, reinforcing conspiracy theories about DD intentionally raising prices across the board before the big sale. So all the decreases that go unreported aren't taken into account (and tend to get ignored even if they are reported ).

In threads that have systematically tracked both price increases and price decreases prior to previous DD sales, no consistent pattern of increases emerged, other than normal price fluctuations and other sales ending.

Works fine for me. I just put some stuff in my wishlist.

Woo! Already over $600+ in my DD&DVDPlanet wishlist. I really rely upon these sales now. I don't really purchase anywhere else during the year- I hope the folks at DD/DVDPlanet make note of this, as I'm sure many of us do our yearly media shopping exclusively with them.

So true.

An old set, but never the less, the Definitive Twilight Zone collection was riding around $200 not so long ago. It's down to $140 + change.

Nice to see the date is set. Not much to get but I can always come up with something ...

You guys realize with 2+ weeks to the sale the final prices still aren't set in stone?

Same! it's been like Christmas the last few yrs getting that box of 15-20 blu-rays. Looking forward to that evening opening them up, straightening the inserts, putting them on the shelves.... good times.
