Wal-Mart has an exclusive bonus disc for "District 9", it's double packed with a re-isssue of "Starship Troopers" $22.99. This would be the two disc version of the movie (D9).

Interested in specifics about the District 9 Wal-mart bonus.

Is there a sticker on the outside packaging or any indication if a specific package contains the bonus disc? I saw the District 9/Starship Troopers bundle at Wal-mart but there was not mention of a bonus disc. There does seem to even be any mention on wal-mart.com or the weekly ad.

Also, how long is the comic-con footage?

Was helping my mom with her shopping. Damn, it's a mess out there. I feel sorry for those folks on the freeway. Worse yet, tomorrow; she's helping her friend with her very last minute Christmas shopping. It'll be worse then today.

Anyhow...

The Comic-Con footage is seventeen minutes long, Undeadcow. Man, Peter Jackson lost a lot of weight. Wow.

The bundle pack does indeed have a sticker which reads "bonus disc". I'm gonna sell off my extra copy of "Starship Troopers". It's such a water down version of the original SE release. Just the feature with vintage commentary. I want to say that it came from the laser disc special edition, but I'm fuzzy if both the LD and DVD came out at the same time. It was towards the end of the laser disc format. *shrugs* I still have mine.

Thanks, actually saw the District 9/Starship bundle at Sam's and that package did not advertise a bonus disc so it threw me off. Picked up my copy at Wal-mart where the sticker was quiet obvious.

I did my rounds today and picked up all the District 9 exclusives I'm aware of. So far, I have:

Best Buy lithograph and dogtag
Best Buy Collector's set with vest and booklet (ordered from website)
Walmart Bonus Disc

I also bought a copy with the slipcover. Its the nicest one I've seen in a while.

Is that everything? Wasn't there going to be a steelbook at FYE for the DVD or Blu-Ray?

Also, is it me or are these exclusives getting harder and harder to find? I had to go to 2 Walmarts and 3 Best Buys. Walmart was a nightmare. And apparently, each Best Buy only got 5 collector's sets. So I ended up having to get it online.

i think there might have been just speculation about fye and a steelbook. there always is

the blu-ray steelbook is a canadian futureshop exclusive though - comes with a dogtag inside the case (prolly same one as the bestbuy usa pre-order dogtag) but no litho.

and fyi trev...
- i think fye had one of them exclusive family guy episode disks. not sure which one, since they seem to have a few now.
- the bestbuy usa "bullet-proof vest" is blu-ray only. methinks the proper term for the packaging is a "jacket", like the grease rockin rydell edition. it also includes a production booklet that actually looks relatively thick.

and imho undeadcow, i think some exclusives are harder and some are easier. it seems the stores are trying to cut back where they can, so they are making only certain amounts of this or that. but they keep getting it wrong, so there are a bunch of exclusives that end up in short supply and some that sell slow. i think this may have to do with the incredible blu-ray pricing too.

off-hand examples:
- tarjay star trek enterprise case blu-ray exclusive was very limited, but the sd dvd edition was plentiful (because of pricing)
- tarjay terminator 2-disk directors cut sd dvd prolly not worth $22.99 for an extra couple of minutes?
- bestbuy up! talking plush dog for $5 with purchase of movie was also very limited

Don't know if it's a store exclusive or not (I only saw it at WM), but I saw a set of the DVDs of Family Guy: Blue Harvest & Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside with a slipcover for $19.96 at Wal-Mart. Not a bad deal if you don't already own Blue Harvest.

I've been in a couple FYEs recently, and unless mine are missing them, the Family Guy exclusives are the same ones that they've had for most of the year. I still see the Stewie vs. Lois and the chicken fight ones.

I've some friend in Canada who bought the D9 Futureshop exclusive steelbook blu-ray and there's no dogtag inside. All of them report the same. The only edition including a dogtag seem to be the best buy one with pre-order option.
I'm from italy and here there has been Terminator Salvation Blu-ray special edition with moto-terminator, I'm a new user and cannot post links to other sites with pictures yes, but it is the same as the amazon.fr

There is a Blu-ray steelbooks of D9 at HMV in UK. The most gorgeous edition I've seen in these holidays is the Japanese Transformers revenge of the fallen Amazon.co.jp Blu-ray edition gist with a transforming Optimus Prime, cooler than the Best buy exclusive head in the Gift set.

Unfortunately only amazon.com ships to europe, while best buy, target walmart etc.. don't. So I am forced to pay a lot on Ebay to get USA special releases, trading with someone in the forum who wants european exclusive releases would be a deal for each other....

Update: the lost season 5 blu-ray dahrma etc... Seems the same on amazon.com , which is the difference with the best buy exclusive?

Were the Dog Tag and Lithograph packaged with the rest, or were the packaged separately as an item you got when you pre-ordered?

at bestbuy usa, dogtag and litho were packaged separately in plastic and given with a $5 pre-order.

canadian hmv had this exclusive too, sans the litho i think? but i dunno how it was packaged.

No. It was online only, but most retailers had/have it. Nothing exclusive to any specific retailer as far as I've seen.
