Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I don't believe you will see this Halloween selection at every store.
So far, two stores in different cities.

I hope for something better.

Perhaps some Shout Factory titles, like last year.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Its been awhile for me that Ive done my out of town shopping at a Walmart store.

Its almost October and I was wondering if pretty much any or every Walmart store already has their Halloween decorations out in the aisles yet and the horror movies restocked in the racks?

anything new in stock or the same old stuff like The Fly Collectors Edition, Childs Play or whatever?

Have you even bothered to actually *read* the last couple of pages of posts?

Just a few above your original question.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Well last time I went to a Walmart store right during Halloween time, there was the regular main horror movies for DVD.

If I went now to a Walmart store theyd probably have the same regular horror movies for DVD.

also im asking about regular horror movies for DVD any new ones in stock.

Im not asking about kids animated "horror" movies. Those are in stores any other time anyway

You wish.

This year is only children Halloween titles. Which is why we're upset.

No mature/adult horror titles this year.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Update...

They fixed it.

But not by much.

There is now a tiny mature horror section, a cap end to one of their racks.

These are the same glow-in-the-dark slipcovers offered from last year. No new titles, feels more like unsold leftovers.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I went to Walmart yesterday and back to Walmart earlier today.

Pretty much Walmart has these horror movie out for Halloween for DVD

American Werewolf in London
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Return of the Living Dead
Bride of Chucky
Child's Play
original Halloween II. Didnt know if they had the Collectors Edition DVD of Halloween II covered by that slipcase thing

then theres some blu ray movies on sale for 7 bucks where the slipcovers are in the style of VHS. There's the new blu ray or still newish blu ray for the first Predator movie, Big Trouble in Little China, Rambo First Blood, Highlander. Those are 7 bucks cheap.

It's the original version. Not the Shout Factory's SE. Or Rob Zombie's flick.

Dude, I just said that they have the original Halloween II where it has that slipcover like the other horror movies. I didnt slide it off to peek if it was the previous Collectors Edition or not from a couple of years ago.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Okay. This snuck on me, I'm usually on top of such things.

Each 26th of each month I map out the following month's titles of interest with their original retail prices. This way when I get them later I can add that data to my listing. Yeah, I'm that anal.

The freaky part is I was thinking about Marvin a couple days ago.

I went to two Wal-Marts today for two different reasons. Saw this and thought they had re-released the theatrical movie. Got closer and read "BBC". What?

This came out last Tuesday; Wal-Mart is selling "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" a three disc special edition. Remastered, now with 5.1 Surround Sound. This has carried over all the extas from the 2002 SE set. Plus a ton more, new on disc three.

This is selling (DVD) for $14.99 and comes with a slipcover (Babble fish on the cover) and 24 page booklet which I imagine is first pressing only.

My store had three copies. Bought one and it was scratched up on disc two; did an exchange. Now they have one. My new copy is mint. I'm quite pleased. I wasn't looking for this, cool.

This is also on BD too.

Update 11/20

Don't get rid of your older SE.

I was wrong. Two extras did not carry over.

1) Douglas Adams Omnibus; 49 minute documentary on the author.

2) Photo gallery. Roughly 40 photos.

I'm keeping mine.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Visited Wal-Mart yesterday and noticed Shout's The Marx Brothers TV Collection and Max Headroom: The Complete Series for $19.99 each. Max Headroom is listed at walmart.com, but for in-store purchase only:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gaiam-Inc...d-Ff/240929828

I'm thinking this (and Hamiltonbook) may be my new method for pretty much all Shout Factory purchases...

I saw Lost in Space: The Complete Classic Series in my local Walmart tonight for $19.99. That's almost $10 cheaper than on Walmart's website. As always, YMMV.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

You can use Brickseek to see if your store has the LIS set in stock and verify the price. Be aware that WM has a new UPC sticker on this set covering the original. To check with Brickseek for copies local to you this is the UPC you need: 02454360629. Or use this SKU: 479668630.

That set is also reformatted for WS which might be a deal breaker for some. At $19.96 (my store's price) I felt it's a good compromise. The example WS episode on the BR set looked mostly OK so that price for the entire series in WS is OK by me (even though I'd prefer OAR). I actually purchased it for the WS as I have the BR OAR edition. I'd have liked to have had both in BR like was done by Universal for the Battlestar Galactica Definitive Edition set.

And I highly recommend getting it as well as there is a lot of rare footage on that set.

The other site said the bonus disk on Max Headroom was missing so it is lacking most of the extras. I haven't heard about the Marx Bros. set though.

As in missing from the set or not included?

Not included. The shout factory sets at walmart tend to be stripped down versions at a budget price like the Bill and Ted's excellent adventure set.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Weird that they're doing stripped down versions of these releases, I'd be more likely to impulse buy the original releases even if they were a little more expensive. They've also had the complete series of The Nanny for about $45 but I noticed that the bonus disc isn't included with that either.

Ditto for All in the Family; I bought it, but right as I was about to open it at home, I noticed that the side of the box said that it contained 27 discs. The regular retail set contains 28 discs, but the Walmart version is missing the disc with all of the bonus features on it. So back it went.
