The $5 TV sets I've seen were in a waterfall display with multiple copies for each season. They did not hit the bin in the location I saw them at.

Another $5 television set not listed was the complete Dilbert series. It's Mill Creek's version, not the original DVD issue.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I ordered LA Complex from B&N for $9.99, so it's too late for me to get it here. But if anyone can't find it at WM, $9.99 is the best price I've seen for it otherwise (excluding BB's pre-order glitch when they had it for $1-something).

Thanks! I was able to get everything I wanted at Amazon. No schlepping to the store or having to deal with site-to-store delivery (with a 50/50 shot at being a horrible experience)!

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I finally found "The L.A. Complex: The Complete Series" bundle (packed with two family friendly titles) in the five dollar bin.

All the discs are mint (single sided); I have moved them into a three disc case. The original is one of those spindle holders, each of the DVDs stacked on top of each other. I hate that.

I am surprised. This is a Echo Bridge title, a company known for being... cheap. But this is a special edition.

Extras:
Running commentaries on the first and last episodes.
Bloopers
Deleted scenes

A pretty cool deal for five dollars.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Forgot to mention.

This past Tuesday I picked up "The Great Gatsby: Two - Disc Special Edition", it's part of their Mother's Day sale, $7.50. This came with an exclusive slipcover...

Wal-Mart's slipcover for their season sale. A good deal, on their regular rack is the same edition going for $12.00 (I think).

What I took as odd was another $7.50 title, "The Best Little Whore House In Texas". Why yes, mom here's a movie treat for you about prostitutes. Hope it doesn't inspire.

Reminds me of some years back for their Easter sale; they had "Zack And Miri Make A Porno" among the festive titles. Nothing says remembering Jesus like Traci Lords.

WOW, time flies when you get old. If I had to bet, I probably would have guessed that it came out earlier THIS year, not late LAST year.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I found a $4 display with assorted vintage Warner Bros. and Paramount DVD titles. A pair of good Bogart movies (THE BIG SLEEP...both versions; DARK PASSAGE; DARK VICTORY with Bette Davis). Also, a bunch of John Wayne and Elvis Presley movies.

I found Hercules: The Legendary Journeys season 1 in the $5 bin. I had picked up season 3 earlier this year, so I was hoping to find season 2 or the first two seasons of Xena as well, but I came up empty.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

They've completely reset their media department in the past week once again. I guess it's for back-to-school purposes, as many of the older displays were removed. I thought it was a fairly weak assortment, concentrated on television releases and kiddie stuff.

^The ones here seem to be in a bi-monthly reset cycle replacing almost everything *except* the overpriced HBO series sets and "new" releases.

HBO must pay them good slot money to stay around so long.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Don't know if this has been mentioned or if it would be of interest to anyone, but as I walked through the media section at a store this afternoon there was a lower couple of shelves on one of the displays that had some DVDs for $3. Personally, I don't remember seeing anything at that price point outside of a BF sale.

From what I remember:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules
The Sandlot
We Bought a Zoo
Jumper
Juno
Knight & Day
Hope Floats
Raising Arizona
Napoleon Dynamite
Walk the Line

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I wasn't sure if this deserved it's own thread, but I found Hey Arnold!: The Complete Series (16 Discs) for $18.96 at my local Wal-Mart last night. From what I understand, this is a store exclusive release and a MUCH better value than buying the seasons individually. Here is the product on the website with a higher price:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/37146448?w...ype=10&veh=aff

I also found Courage the Cowardly Dog: Season 2 for $19.96. While this is not a bargain, it is exclusive to Walmart for a few more months so you can get it early. I'm hoping it sells well enough to jump start the Cartoon Network Hall of Fame series again.

No problem! Mine had about 3 or 4 copies on the New Release shelf of the TV Show section. It was near Once Upon a Time: S3 and other new releases.

While I was out looking for Hey Arnold! (Christmas shopping now about 1/4 done), I saw that they were also selling Maverick - The Complete Season 2 for $14.96.
