Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Found the original Fright Night in the $5 bin today in Peoria, IL, happy to come across that. I also saw copies of Paranormal Activity 2, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Cocktail, Super Troopers, and City of Ember, just to name a few that I can recall off the top of my head.
They also had a display featuring Paramount horror titles for $7.50 and $10 for Blu-Ray that contained movie money for Paranormal Activity 3. Some of those titles include Friday the 13th Parts 1 & 3 Deluxe Editions (would've bought one if they had Part 4), Cloverfield, Sleepy Hollow, Pet Sematary, and Paranormal Activity.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I did a *very* rare quick skim through the "top layer" and found The Last House on the Left Unrated CE then went over to BL where I found the same title for $3. I'll be returning the WM copy on the next trip. I also saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Criterion Collection at WM which was also at BL for the same price.

I've been searching every Walmart around here for that Puppet Master Vol. 2 (w/ Puppet Master IV, V, and Curse Of...) DVD, even looked at KMart (where I found the 1st one first) and haven't found it yet. Damn it... -kd5-

I haven't found it either, although I only check one Walmart. Every time I go through the bin and see Puppet Master buried in the pile I think it's gonna be Vol 2, but it's always Vol 1.

EDIT: Decided to check a different Walmart today and found it.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

unless I am mistaken, the hellraiser collection is full frame and/or stretched...One reviewer on Amazon said "didn't look right and hard to focus."

I guess 6 films for $5 we shouldn't expect much,.. but still..

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Found the Hellraiser and Kids of the Corn sets. But couldnt find the Prophecy one. Didnt know what it looked like so I could have passed it.

The Hellraiser is just like the 3 movie set. Part III is full frame and the rest are widescreen. Corn set is the same way.

How is the image quality in the 6 film Hellraiser set? I'd love to condense for $5.

SSSSSsss is one of the creepiest and saddest horror films I've ever seen. Except for a lackluster climax, it's an excellent tragic horror movie.

To the lucky so-and-so's who seem to be able to find Puppet Master, Vol. 2 (Midnight Horror Collection with Puppet Master IV, V, & VI) in bargain bins at your local Walmarts, I just went through 2,264 $5 DVDs at Walmart.com and didn't find it listed. However, I did find it for $9.96:

I don't get how everyone else seems to be able to find this in the dump bins but me...

If it's any help at my local Walmarts they have $5 DVDs in 2 areas - one is the huge dumpbins you're looking in and the other is on wire shelves in the DVD section. The Puppetmaster v2 sets I've seen have always been on wire shelves in the DVD section. It'd be luck if it was as simple as that for you but I'm sure it is not. Best wishes.

Slightly off-topic but...I saw this Puppet Master Vol.2 today at my local K-Mart in THEIR $5 bin. If you have one nearby, go check 'em out.

Believe me, I've looked. No such luck...

That Children of the Corn 6 movie set is only 5 bucks??

edit... I've looked all over and couldn't find it. I DID see a bunch of copies of Redneck Zombies...atleast 10. So if anyone finds the COTC set and wants to trade...

They have Tales From the Crypt Season 6 & Season 7 for $10 each. They were the only two seasons I didn't find in the Big Lots haul.

The Halloween and The Prophecy movie sets are $7.50 at my local walmart. Haven't found The Children of the Corn series (which is the only set I really want out of the those 3).

Halloween H2O/Resurrection/Revenge of Michael Myers 3 movie pack was $5 though.

Also saw new Horror sets with 8 and 10 titles for $7.50. Can't remember the titles. Next time I will take picture.

And another set with Octopus, Octopus 2, Crocodile and Blood Surf for $5
This one I almost bought cause I really liked the Crocodile flick, but the back didn't specify if they were full or widescreen :-(

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I checked a while ago, and our Walmart (I'm in Canada) had a pretty crummy selection this October. Last couple years, you could go to Seasonal and get all kinds of great stuff like Evil Dead and Dawn of the Dead Ultimate, and the Universal Legacy sets, but this year it seems like it's just regular DVD's. Fangoria and some popular single movies like Hostel and so on. Barely even any double packs.

However, the employee I talked to said something vague, like "We're still getting set up". I checked almost a week after that and there was nothing new. I'm going to check on Friday again.

Walmart is having a disappointing year. They have some good stuff in the bins, but they are far behind what they usually put out. Maybe it's the desperation in the economy that is making a lot of big box stores go screaming to Christmas ASAP, but Halloween is getting the shaft this year.

Kmart, on the other hand, has a TON of cheap horror films this year, which is always fun.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Speaking of Kmart, anyone find that BLACULA double feature there lately? I passed it up at Walmart a couple of years ago and now wish I hadn't. I've found other "Soul Cinema" doubles at Kmart, but the BLACULA one has proved elusive.
