Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

^^Before picking up a copy of S1 be advised that currently Mill Creek doesn't have a listing for S2 or S3 on their site.

You can get a Mill Creek S1/S2 2-pack at Target for $15 (or $13 during a 2-pack sale), but no S3.

The entire series set from Mill Creek will be at many vendors for as little as $18.50 (DD) May 18th. I got one a month ago from Best Buy for $19.99 + tax (they have an early "exclusive" distribution deal).

The Mill Creek sets have more episodes per disk. I've not yet opened this so can't speak as to quality, but I've read 1 other comment indicating the Mill Creek release is not as good as the Anchor Bay release (a bit more noise and "bleeding" reds) which will most likely go OOP soon.

And, yes, the higher priced one is the AB version which reportedly has the pilot episode of "Greatest American Heroine" while the MC set has a 20 minute interview with Stephen Cannell. No reports yet as to whether that pilot is on the MC set(s).

Just curious as to the price and I figure what better place to ask than the people who are always checking out the Walmart dvds? Thanks.
To answer my own question: $10 for the dvd (different packaging too, more of a PS3 game style packaging). So indeed it was a bargain after all, picked one up naturally.

Is Damages: The First Season worth a $13 blind buy?

No Blossom at mine. I would have paid $13 for it.

First season was great, second season not so much, I watched it but lost interest as is it went on, third season I didn't even watch. The first however, a thing of beauty.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Boy, I'm jealous of folks who have a good Wal Mart close by. I have 5 that I can get to, and the only one that had a decent DVD dept. left just downsized it, with no particular good deals left. In fact, the $5 bin there is offering a new anti-deal that Mill Creek fans should be aware of. Before you buy any TV seasons , check to make sure if they're full season or half season. I spotted Hunter and Renegade Mill Creeks that were half seasons for $5, 2 disks instead of 4. Up until now Mill Creek boxes in the dump bins were full season. I do hope this is something unique to WM, and we won't see Mill Creek do this elsewhere. For me it would be a deal killer.

Well the Walmarts in the Los Angeles area typicaly rotate or sell through stock quickly. Sometimes the displays are cardboard stacks in the middle of the aisle, but mostly on the wire rack in the middle of the aisle. These deals move quickly and there typically is no restock.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

It's been amazing to me how different the deals/selection are from store-to-store. I was on the road a bit yesterday and popped into a Wal-mart specifically just to see what TV-on-DVD deals were there based on the lengthy list posted previously. I literally found just 1 set of any kind--Friends, season 6 priced at $24.96.

Well... it is the same thing for many Mill Creek titles at Big Lots as well...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I just saw this 4 film pack (2 discs) DVD of Slaughter High, My Best Friend Is A Vampire, Repossesed and Silent Night Deadly Night 3. It was $5.00 but if anyone buys this could you tell me if these discs are single sided or double sided? It would be great if they are single sided with two movies on each disc. All the movies are fullscreen though :-(

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

For anyone in Northwestern CT, I was in the Torrington Wal Mart today. They were resetting it over to the newer style Wal Marts and it looked like pretty much only the media section was done. No great bargains in particular I'd say but damn decent overall. Far better than before.

They had a very large 5$ section (highlights: Stripes, new Hulk movie), a slightly smaller 7.50$ section (highlights: not much), a 9$ section (highlight: The Conan Complete Quest), and a 13$ section (had a lot of those "four film favorites"). Oh, and a 4$ endcap full of absolute shite.

On the flip side I didn't see one 10$ BR, which they had before. They did have random BR two packs for 20$. But they were pretty random--same genre looked to be the only links I could see.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Picked up South Park season 6 for $10 today. They also had season 5 for the same price. They also had all seasons of Smallville and Supernatural for $19.96 except for the last released season of each, which were $24.96.

Sounds like a repackaging of the "Lost Collection." I have been curious about several of those movies but never bought any. I don't know much about them. Were they made for TV? That would explain all of them being fullscreen. If not, that is a bummer.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

^ i concur and am surprised a repackage so soon. if im not mistaken, both the old, oop editions as well as the newer "lost" collection re-releases of all of those movies have been released full screen, which is pretty disappointing.

Walmart has High Noon 2 Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition in stores for $9. That's already a pretty good deal. But Walmart.com has it for 7.65 with free site to store shipping.

Thanks for posting this. I just picked up a copy in store. It worked out to only $1.20 more (after tax) than buying online with store pickup...and I don't have to wait until June to get it.

Thanks!

I bought the set a few days ago. The discs are double-sided, with each side being single-layered. Disc 1 is VAMPIRE/REPOSSESSED, and Disc 2 is SLAUGHTER/SILENT NIGHT.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Our walmart has the Godfather-Coppola restoraton version for $20.00, not sure how that stacks-up to other places, but until the markdown this week it was pretty expensive here.
