wouldn't it be informative to at least mention when seeing these drastically reduced
I thought we already were?

Now I'm curious. Gone in both stores I live by.

Was the Mummy promotional re-releases; the title "Legend" - the single or two disc special edition? Though I suspect it's the single.

Their Halloween offerings went up this week.

Have bought with glow-in-the-dark slipcovers on Wednesday; "The Birds", "Dracula: Untold", "Tremors" and "9".

Yesterday also took home "Krampus" and in another area, Shout Factory's "The Fog" with its slip for $7.50.

A heads-up for "Dune" (1984).

Can't find it on Amazon, further looking - not a Wal-Mart exclusive. Some effort later...

This streeted on May 23rd, 2017 for $10.99. Turns out, it has the very same UPC numbers.

That may be reason why I can't find it on Amazon as it lists the 1998 version.

The original DVD was widescreen, letterboxed release (non-anamorphic).

Yesterday I was out and had a short visit to the store. There in the media area I saw the movie now with a new cover for $3.74. Cheap enough, I buy it.

I own the '98 release and one last transparent unused case. Put the new wraparound on the outside and the older one on the inside along with the original insert.

While switching to their new home, I notice something.

The 2017 re-release is an upgrade, now the movie is presented in anamorphic widescreen.

For those who don't know - this is the theatrical cut.

The "Extended Edition" was a seperate release from 2006; the longer television cut.

Good news for those who waited for anamorphic.

Bad news; it's the same transfer as the 1998 release.

The Extended Edition DVD from 2006 was a flipper disc that included the anamorphic theatrical cut on one side.

Yeah, but that steelbook is pricey and out of print.

This is $3.74.

For anyone that bought "Spider-Man Homecoming" at Walmart and still have their Walmart receipt (blu-ray or DVD), you can get $3 cash back via the iBotta app. Offer good through 11/14.

Picked up a title yesterday that caught me by suprise.

The Kino Lorber special edition of "Convoy" DVD for five bucks.

Man, I hope this mean WM will carry other KL titles.

Would love to get "Killer Fish", "The Party", "The Manhattan Project", "Legend Of The Lost", "The Deadly Bees", "The Train", "Lady From Louisiana", "Capricorn One", "Planet Of The Vampires", "Meteor", Green Ice" and "The Long Goodbye" to name a few.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

They have season one of "Westworld" for $19.96, the cheapest I've seen it.

But there is an issue.

Disc 3.

I made an exchange, but the same problem on the same disc. Disc three a slice on it; as if someone took an razor blade and tired to cut into the rim of the DVD (into it, to make a cut to the center).

Ended up contacting Warner Home Video on the phone and telling them what has happened. There are sending me a FedEx label for free shipping to send the whole package back to them for a replacement.

Can't say if you will find this at your Wal-Mart, I could very well be unlucky.

And "Innerspace" non-snapper is for sale for five bucks.

The Greatest Showman is a prime candidate for a quick drop. Unless you loved it, I'd wait.

I saw in-store Time Life's The Midnight Special 6-DVD set for $9.97. These are the music performances from the 1970s. Great deal if you can find it, the set has over 500 minutes of music from name artists like Marvin Gaye and John Denver.

Picked up the Green Acres: The Complete Series box set at my local Walmart last week for $49.96. That's the cheapest that I've seen it anywhere. Even the Walmart website has it for $9 more than that.

As always, YMMV.

WTF?

Please tell me this isn't their Halloween selections this year...

http://s12.imageupper.com/1_t/6/J1536827508355074_1.jpg

These are titles for children and little kids.

Where are the horror movies?

Photo taken a few hours ago. Glow in the dark "Barney" DVD slipcover.

I hope not, but at least out here all the b&m's are done with cd or maybe have 8 feet of rack space (Wallymart & Target) , & film is maybe 2 rows of racks at most.

JohnIan 09-15-18 04:43 AM

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I hope so, another shelf space for adult/mature horror titles.

JohnIan 09-18-18 02:58 AM

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I have the answer and it sucks.

That's it.

That rack does represents Halloween 2018 selections. I spoke to a women who works in media, known her for years.

This year is kids movies.

The horror.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Not entirely unexpected. Walmart has been moving away from harder Halloween movies for a few years. They like rotating units based on specific demographic niches depending on the local area. Some population and customer analysis is telling them a large chunk of their customers in those stores are parents with younger children.

I don't believe you will see this Halloween selection at every store.
