I really hope my local Wal-Marts just hadn't put anything out yet. Since it seems you guys have been saying they were putting it up today (meaning Tuesday) so maybe my stores haven't put the movies out yet. I have I think 3 or 4 other Wal-Marts to check tomorrow. I'll probably check the one down the street again tomorrow.

That's a fantastic price! It's listed for $13 on the Wal-Mart website too.

I'm thinking that the 2 stores that DID have the section that was almost empty probably hadn't put the movies out yet as opposed to being sold out. I'll check tomorrow as I will go to other stores as well.

For those curious, the Halloween 4/5 double feature is a 2-disc set, not a flipper disc like all the other Anchor Bay double features I own.

I also picked up HBTM - sadly, it has no features. It did have a sticker on the front touting "The Score Fans Have Been Wanting" or something like that. I didn't really mind the pop music on the old DVD, but it's worth the upgrade just for the cover art.

Also got the Maximum Overdrive/Raw Deal double feature. Both anamorphic and now distributed by a company called "Phase 4 Films". This is the third compay to reissue these movies in the past 8 years by my counts.

Besides the already mentioned "Tales from the Crypt"/"Vault of Horror", I found the following MM combos:

The Land That Time Forgot/ The People That Time Forgot
Strange Invaders / Invaders from Mars
Alien from L.A. / Morons From Outer Space.

Saw Panic in Year Zero / The Last Man on Earth this morning.

Chiller Triple Feature (forget what this has in it, it's some Echo Bridge like company and one of the horror films is about a horror film, somewhat recent, title ends in an exclamation point, if that helps...)
I picked up a Triple Feature called "Gritty Horror Tales" - I'm pretty sure that's what you're referring to, droidguy. The 3 films included are Harm's Way, Hack! & Baby Blues. I debated the purchase until I saw Danica McKellar (Wonder Years) was in Hack!, so I pulled the trigger.

I went back this morning and I jotted down a few of the things I saw.

$5 Horror Section
Fright Night
Jaws 3
Lake Placid
Lake Placid 2

$7.50
Poltergeist

TV Shows:
Fame: Season 1-2 $15 each season
Seinfeld: Seasons 1&2, Seasons 2-9 $15 each
Futurama Movies $10.50-$13.00
Thundercats: Volumes $20.00 each
Chips: Seasons 1&2 set $20
Gilligan's Island: Seasons 1&2 set $20

I thought they removed all the Star Trek series, but only to find that they moved it to the other side.

They also added the following.
Star Trek: Voyager: Seasons 1-2: $40 each season

Picked up Halloween H20 for $5. It was in the "bin" and not with the other $5 horror movies.

The most common Anchor Bay edition, a one-disc, with the green-bordered title treatment filling the whole cover and the girl in the grave at the bottom.

Thanks to the poster who first brought up Texas Chain Saw Massacre for 5 bucks. Dropped by on my way home from work and picked up a copy! I was looking for an endcap or something but the 5 dollars deals were on the shelves on a dvd aisle.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Other titles in the 5$ section are:

Coffee/Friday Forester
Blackula Double Fature
blackenstien
Fright Night
Hellraiser (anniversary ediiton - no joke)
Lots more.

If i recollect, usually alot of the stuff in the halloween assortment go out of print soon after. I remember buying copies of "The phantom" 2 years ago or so, and they are oop-

PLUS
in that transformers section, the Have Thundercats S1P1 P2, S2P1 & P2) For $19.96. I know i know, some people found at big lots, some found the singles, but for those who dont want to chance getting the wrong thing from an amazon seller (i did 2 times, they sent singles instead of sets), this is a steal imo

Went to another Wal-Mart today and found Happy Birthday to Me finally, yay! The lady at the counter gave me crap though because I didn't have my ID because I got a ticket and all my credit cards say "SEE ID" and I don't have a State ID.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

No luck on the Blacula double feature at my closest store, all of the $5 titles were shelved. Were they on the shelf or in the dump bin?

Texan26 10-07-09 07:43 PM

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Also in the $5 horror section:

Day of the Dead (2008)
Midnight Movie (2008)
Urban Legend

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I picked up The Watcher and Dillinger in the $5 section tonight. It seems that the selection of shelved $5 titles varies from each store. Does anyone own the 2009 re-release of Dillinger (1973) and can tell me whether or not it's anamorphic? The 2001 release was and i'm sure this is too but i just want to make sure.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

My walmart has about 100 different titles out now, they even have a whole kids section.

A few things missed:
Blues Bros Anniv ed (gold bar at top)
Animal House SE
various bratz dvd's
various b. bears kids dvd's
Batman: Mask of the phantasm

This is a big reset for just a seasonal thing, hopefully it will be stocked with rotating titles.

I saw Halloween H20 at a local Wal-mart this morning for $5 and I thought I saw some reference on the back about it being "Enhanced for Widescreen TV's" or something like that. When I got my copy years ago I believe it was widescreen only (not anamorphically enhanced)...Can anyone confirm if this new batch of DVD's is now anamorphically enhanced for widescreen TV's or is this just another packaging error? (If I remember correctly, the original packaging also indicated a commentary with Jamie Lee Curtis and the director that never showed up on the disc itself)
