I'll be finding out soon enough. I placed an order for this yesterday. I got an order confirmation email this morning. I've been wanting to pick up the 16-ton set cheap somewhere since this new one came out. This was the cheapest I have seen and it is for the newer set.

Daedalus is a reputable vendor; they mostly sell closeout and remainder books, but also sell some DVDs and CDs. Shipping is a little high ($5.95 per order), so you might want to combine several items in a single order. But, to answer your question, yes, they are OK.

Daedalus Books is a solid outfit, especially for book collectors. Good for music CDs, too. Not so strong on DVDs. Fortunately, I was able to pick up the Python 16 Ton Megaset last fall from Deep Discount for $30; amazing deal.

This is NOT the same set. This is simply the old set in region 2 format. It only contains the TV show and not the 6 best of and 2 live discs.

Is this version of the TV show packaged in regular keepcases or is this the slimcase version? I have the original boxed set in regular keepcases that came out after the version that has the German episodes and Hollywood Bowl appearance and while I'm intrigued by those factors, call me crazy but I'd kinda dig the slimcase version to save some shelf space.

Bobhug : I ordered the Rumpole set for my parents. My Dad is 89, and my Mother is 83. At their ages, it is especially nice to be able to find programming they will enjoy.

However, I do believe they are the remastered episodes (some with slight content differences).

I'm dying for a domestic reissue of "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" in widescreen like they issued in the UK. The version in the A&E set is a grotesque pan-and-scan of a hard-matted film edition.

Importing usually doesn't cost that much, as Amazon.co.uk usually has great deals on DVD's. If you don't have a region free DVD player you can always buy a DVD rom drive for $20 and use it for imports. (Or check the model number of your DVD player online, as it probably does allow you to play imports once a code has been entered)

Thanks OP! I got it last week. I had the old set with just the TV series and decided to upgrade. I like the packaging on this set. It saves alot of space and they've combined the best of discs with 2 on each of 3 discs and the live sets are combined onto one disc. Just an FYI in case anybody's on the fence about this set. Still worth it for $50 IMHO.
