Agreed. Maybe $10 for the season sets and $5 for each HD-DVD and they'd sell...

I'd win the auction and say that "Please note, due to the recession, I am paying you by photocopied bank notes only". |

Yeah, there's no way. You'd have to be an idiot to give the guy that much. I'm think about upgrading a few titles and selling the discs only with my HD-A2 player since I just got a HD-A30. I should be able to get a decent amount that way but what that guys asking just for those discs is way too much IMHO. I'm just on the fence on whether or not I should "upgrade" my Harry Potter or Kubrick films from HD DVD to Blu-ray. Probably not. The quality is the same so it doesn't seem like it would be smart for me to do so. |

Re: Warner's "Red2Blu" Plan - $4.95 to switch HD DVD to Blu-ray
Looks like WB did bump up the price on a few of the collector sets:
Casablanca $9.95 Ultimate Matrix set $19.95 Harry Potter 1-5 set $19.95 Planet Earth $14.95 |

The quality is the same so it doesn't seem like it would be smart for me to do so. I'm kinda hesitating on this upgrading thing, personally. Just looking at these final checkout prices for some of you, ranging over $100 for 25 titles...that you already own in the first place...seems wrong. WB should be offering a postage-paid envelope, we mail the covers back to them in the envelope, and they ship the movies out to us media mail. Shipping is a deduction as a cost of doing business, so WB is being way too conservative on their philanthropy. Why not just offer a coupon for the same Blu-ray movie at a local retailer once they received the proper cover and not even bother with sending the movies out to us. We would just get the coupon in the mail, and head down to any retailer with the movie in stock. Problem solved. No shipping charges necessary. |
Re: Warner's "Red2Blu" Plan - $4.95 to switch HD DVD to Blu-ray
That isnt fair that they raised the prices and let some people have the cheaper price. We should complain to the wb.

Re: Warner's "Red2Blu" Plan - $4.95 to switch HD DVD to Blu-ray
I kept thinking..better get on this before they change prices or something.."snooze you lose on internet promotions" should be always headed..hate that.

Even though at the beginning we decided that was a fair price which covered our costs and made us an acceptable level of profit, let's raise the prices to hurt the people who order later because we see an opportunity to make more profit. That way maybe we can get bigger raises or bonuses next year". |

WB should be offering a postage-paid envelope, we mail the covers back to them in the envelope, and they ship the movies out to us media mail. Shipping is a deduction as a cost of doing business, so WB is being way too conservative on their philanthropy. I'm thinking about placing an order now for the following: The Matrix: 10th Anniversary $4.95 Ultimate Matrix Collection, The $19.95 Planet Earth: The Complete Collection (BBC) $14.95 Pan's Labyrinth $4.95 Casablanca, Ultimate Collector's Edition $9.95 Batman Begins $4.95 My Matrix for the Matrix Digibook (which I will either keep as a collectors item or sell -- either option is tempting). The Ultimate Matrix Collection makes sense because it has all the bonus materials my complete collection didn't have. And I am a huge fan of The Animatrix as well so seeing that in 1080p High Definition with lossless audio is a big upgrade IMHO. Planet Earth I'll do this for because my sets case had a somewhat odd stench since I traded for it over a year ago. Weird, I know... Pan's Labyrinth I'm trading in as my PS3 will be able to process the DTS-HD Master Audio. Casablanca, so that I can get the fancy collectors edition. And Batman Begins, because my cover art was a bit wrinkled and then it will also match The Dark Knight. I am NOT "upgrading" the Harry Potter or Kubrick films. Or any of my MANY other Warner titles either. The discs that I have left over will go in cases w/o covers, along with several HD DVD's I wanted to sell by themselves in a lot with my HD-A2 player on eBay. I think this will be a good way to balance it all out. |
Re: Warner's "Red2Blu" Plan - $4.95 to switch HD DVD to Blu-ray
Is it just me or was the Planet Earth set removed from the site?

So I'm upgrading 19 discs. Hit order, and the site has been "loading" for the last 15 minutes.

Probably because there is no major difference between the releases at all. Meaning that it's sorta like throwing away $5 a film for a blue case -- if you think about it that way. It really sort of is.
