Star Trek Movie Collection Blu $79.99

Amazon has price matched Wal-mart with this one.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TH16DI

This is the 6 movie 7 disc collection. Was $93.99.

Nice, I was hoping they would match...while I have a couple Walmart gift cards to burn, I didn't want to have to pay for shipping and tax there...now with Amazon I won't have to!

I have it pre-ordered. Do I need to request a price adjustment, or will it happen automatically.....?

I don't know whether to bite or not. I keep thinking this might go cheaper since so many blu/trek fans are polarized on this being the theatrical cuts and not the director cuts -- especially for the motion picture -- and are not rushing to get it. On the other hand, if the new movie is great, I'd imagine demand would heat up.

It is supposed to happen automatically but if you follow the Lost Blu ray thread,
those sets' prices didn't change when there was a one day price reduction.
Doesn't hurt to send Amazon an e-mail about the price reduction if have checked you order and the price has not changed.

I'll do that, thank you.

I was definitely "on the fence" before with the higher old price, as I have been one of those quite vocal in my disappointment in only getting the theatrical version of TMP....but now at this price, and with that exclusive bonus disc? It definitely pushed me towards purchase....anytime I can get some of my favorite films in HD for under $15, I go for it....I know that number is more than some of the more aggressive (and patient) bargain hunters out there, but I say you only live once, enjoy it while you can....

Just cancel that order and re-order it with the new price. It is so much easier.

Here's what the fans will do: Complain until the cows come home and once the cows are back in the barn, they're going to go out and buy it.

Re: Star Trek Movie Collection Blu $79.99

So is TMP the only one that doesn't have the same cut that was released in the 2-disc special editions? And what about special features--are the previously released features included? I ask because I'm wondering which of my 2-disc releases to keep, and which ones I can now unload. I'm getting the BD set either way, but I'd like to get rid of my SD's if I no longer need them (except TMP, of course)

I almost did that, but tried the e-mail first and the price is now $79.99.

It's nice that Paramount is not gouging us ST fans like they did in the early DVD days...

For anyone with FYE gift cards, this set is around the same price from wherehouse.com with the WHBIGAPRIL coupon (slightly cheaper, but you have to pay tax so ends up slightly higher)

If the DD sale is 25% off again, it should be cheaper there by $10. I think I can wait.

It's currently 106.68 on DD right now, which comes to 80.01 at 25% off. Pretty much the same price except for a few pennies.

No, Part 2 and Part 6 will also be the theatrical cuts, while the 2-discs SE DVDs of those two featured "director's cuts"....however, the changes & extensions made in those two films are much smaller and less significant than the DC of TMP...

It was cheaper yesterday by $10. But it's still cheaper by $5 on DVDPlanet. I think I can wait it out.

Re: Star Trek Movie Collection Blu $79.99

Also remember that the Barnes and Noble June B2G1 sale is upcoming and with membership and 15% off coupon can get movie collection and Season 1 Blu-Ray, just have to find another of equal cost to get for around $65 pre tax if a calculated correctly.

Re: Star Trek Movie Collection Blu $79.99

Although the rest would be fine in the original theatrical cuts, I'd rather watch TMP in its director's cut in SD than watch the theatrical cut in HD. The vast improvements in the film with the director's cut cannot be overstated enough, IMO, so much so that I'd be fine if the theatrical cut never was released again on any format.

Despite its flaws, I'd hate to see that happen. Besides, I don't think the "director's cut" saves this flick. It's still way too long and boring with needless but pretty special effects-filled shots of the enterprise slowly floating through v-ger. It's a great idea that just didn't ignite.

What's with all the negative reviews on Amazon? Is there something wrong with this set?
