As for the movies (I'm assuming that you're referring to Death & Rebirth / The End of Evangelion), they are OOP. They originally licensed to Manga Ent. and it remains unclear if they still hold the license or not. And since they are/were from a difference studio, there is no way that they would be in one set.

It's okay. If you're a fan of the game then I would say pick it up. Otherwise it's better as a rental.

That being the case, you have to wonder how much business they're losing by being down so long, especially in these poor domestic times? That does not bode well for their future...

I just had my first bad experience with TRSI, and figured I'd warn the rest of you. Maybe this should be in the store forum, but I know this is where most people who shop there will look.
A few weeks back, I ordered the Black Lagoon Second Barrage box set. It arrived on Saturday, and I opened it up, only to find the Steelbook covered in small scratches. It also didn't have a security sticker on top, just a small piece of one that must have been left over when someone peeled it off. Clearly, this was a repackaging job, all the discs thrown into a Volume 1 case that didn't sell or something. I'm not sure if it's Geneon or TRSI who's responsible.

FWIW, it wasn't Rightstuf's fault. I just received my copy from wherehouse.com. My copy is just like you described, small scratches on the steelcase and residue of the security sticker on the top. Since it came this way from two different retailers, I would imagine that all copies will be the same.

I have a small question about the "Air TV" series @ TRSi
There are the normal DVDs from ADV for 7.99$ each and there will be the "DVD Box" made by FUNiMATION for "similar" price.
So whats better? The single DVDs with the box from ADV or the box set from FUNiMATION?
The FUNiMATION release also includes this Summer OVA Special, it wasnt published by ADV yet
Is the AiR TV Movie (for 9.99$) good too?
Thanks for help!

I liked the TV series a lot more versus the movie, but you are a completist I would still get it.

First of all the summer special is included in Vol.4 of the ADV singles. The extras on the singles were minimal (clean OP/ED), so that should still be there even with the reduced disc count. The FUNi boxset will be 2 thinpaks housed inside a flimsy artbox, but it will be more space-saving.

I didnt watch the series yet but the Funimation Trailer was tasty so i will get the ADV singles and the box because i dont care about space-saving.

Thanks again.

ADV Film's singles is the way to go for me personally.
Excess reading below if you want
****************************************
Reasons why I prefer either ADV films'/Geneon's orignal release over FUNimation's rescued releases: FUNimation's release ultimately has a higher potential for scratches on discs especially when FUNimation uses overlapping disc packaging.
****************************************
I tend to support the first release (Same anime: ADV Film's or FUNimation's rescue release? ADV Films; Same anime: Geneon or FUNimation rescue release? Geneon.).
1. A tad bit more expensive, but the overall construct is much more solid than FUNimation's flimsy packaging plus overlapping discs.
2. ADV Films/Geneon brought the series over first (in this case, ADV film's Air TV), support ADV/Geneon.
3. Off-topic: It strikes me as odd when fans thank FUNimation for rescuing a Geneon/ADV films' series, saying "finally I can get this series because I never got around to getting the original release....[?or because I can't find it?]" It especially doesn't make sense when these same fans shop Rightstuf and the series in question is clearly available under Geneon/ADV Films. I would rather they say "finally, I can get this series for cheap. Thank you FUNimation" or something to that effect.
FUNimation is certainly doing the anime community a favor by releasing certainly much more affordable sets. On the flip side, affordability also comes with a price. I don't have the exact specifications for Air TV, but my assumption is that FUNimation's boxset will be packaged with overlapping discs.
Overlapping disc is a cause for concern when it comes to scratched discs (even for brand new DVDs). Brand new DVDs is suppose to be perfect, but that's not always the case (major reason why I run a visual disc check [under an indoor lamp] with all new purchases regardless of studio/manufacturer). For whatever reason, quality control seems to be clearly an issue for certain companies whether it be anime or hollywood releases.
My recent brand new purchases from FUNimation includes: xxxholic/tusbasa movies, robotech shadow chronicles, etc. I bought two NEW copies of each on account of the low price tag. Both sets includes overlapping discs. As I suspected, terrible scratches on both xxxholic/tsubasa sets and one of the robotech chronicles. Culprit: overlapping discs. (Scratched discs are worthless to me as a collector; they go into the worthless junk pile. They will need to be rebought unfortunately. Probably should look into disc resurfacing services, but uncertain how effective they truly are at removing surface scratches) The other Robotech ... Actually. Looked. Brand. New. I immediately transferred both perfect conditioned Robotech DVDs to a case that doesn't foster the overlap effect. Overlapping disc gets trashed/junk pile. Repackaged non-overlapping, separate hubs for separate discs mingles with my DVD collection.
I suspect FUNimation's Air TV series will come with overlapping discs plus its traditional flimsy packaging makes the decision to buy ADV film's original release the more attractive choice.

They restocked volume 1 and the volume 2 artbox. Unfortunately, volume 3 is currently OOS. Hopefully they'll find more copies of volume 3 soon. I'm still waiting for X Remix to drop from the current $10 price point.
