It was mentioned in an earlier Target post that a lot of these clearance end cap items are from customers who have made purchases online and returned in the store.

I remember finding an HD-DVD copy of The 40 Year Old Virgin (before HD-DVD died) for $5.

I found 3 copies of The Rock blu-ray on clearance for $6.26 each. Although I agree that clearance DVD's at Target are hugely YMMV, I find it hard to believe that someone bought 3 copies of The Rock online and returned them to the store... I supposed that is possible for My So Called Life, but there has to be some other explanation for the 3 The Rocks I found...

A couple months ago I found a few titles priced around $1.50 each, like Flashdance, Superstar, Legend of Bagger Vance, Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, and Scooby Doo On Zombie Island. They must have just put them out when I went in there. Haven't ever found any HD-DVDs or Blu-Rays.

One store had a bunch of the PS2 High School Musical Sing-It game with microphone for $14, that was pretty tempting but still too frivolous a purchase for me to go through with it. I'm sure my neighbors are thankful. :)

In two years of regularily cruising the clearance endcaps at Target, I've found only one item: Seinfeld, Season 5 for $6.xx.

I've never seen them either. I also find it hard to believe that all these clearance dvds I hear about are the result of returns from online orders. From what I have read, it would look more like just titles that they are discontinuing in the store. Although, why they arent sending them back is a mystery to me. But then again, nobody ever said that Target employees were at all smart.

I would guess that if indeed that's the case, they have a window to return them, and some stores miss that window. maybe even an in-store return of an in-store purchase that was simply past the window (such as bought the last day the item was on the shelf, returned the last day of the 90 day return policy).

That's weird, I was under the impression that all Targets were like the ones I have visited here in Michigan, all of which have had many, many clearance DVDs. I actually thought Lastdaysofrain's post was joking.

Yeah, there's definitely something weird with the target clearance dvds. They don't seem to be consistent from store to store, and usually the ones I see have a special sticker on them... I've never seen more than one copy of anything, as opposed to the dozens of copies of clearanced videogames and other products.

Last December, I picked up seasons 1 and 2 of Space Ghost, Coast to Coast, which were the only dvds there, and I haven't seen a dvd in the clearance aisle since.

I would like to suggest we start a "Target Clearance Finds" thread to put stuff like this in. It seems almost every clearance item is store-specific, so starting threads about specific titles seems pointless.

Well along those lines if it is that much of a YMMV, why bother posting them at all? Has anyone found similar deals in stores other than the original one the title was found for cheap? :shrug:

Typically these are titles that are no longer in their system (skipped over during inventory). They then put a generic price tag on them to sell them. Its easier to do that then put them back in the system (LP wise)

I think it's worth posting because other Target's will follow. If the titles are no longer in their system, it's just a matter of how good they keep their inventory up to date at individual target stores. I was thinking it could be modeled after the CAG Target Video Game Clearance Thread

Obviously wouldn't be nearly as many titles since DVDs don't get clearanced as often as video games though.
