MARCH 1 to MARCH 21, 2009<HR>Anime Closeout Sale @ Best Buy (B&M / YMMV) | ICv2 & ANN
The selection will be cut at approximately 800 stores out of Best Buy's just over 1,000 (1,006 as of February 19) stores in the USA. Of these, 461 stores will carry only the top-20 titles.
The 461 stores that will be cutting their selection to A-List-only titles will be holding a clearance sale with their usual prices reduced a further 50%. The sale will run from March 1 to March 21. The entire list of stores can be found HERE.
- 50% off listed/stickered price on all anime DVD releases
- NOTE: Select titles may not ring up at the right price. Ether check the prices as the cashier rings out your product(s) or check your receipt before you leave the store.
- You can also check the prices of the products on the computer kiosk(s). The actual price will be displayed on BestBuy.com if your store has the product in-stock (1 or more) showing on their system. This will tell you if a price override will be required as long as the product is listed on BestBuy.com.
- Blu-ray release are not included with the exception of Afro Samurai. A manager's override will be required, so your experience may vary.
- What about mis-priced products? The pricing label shows one price and the discounted price doesn't add up.
- It's up to manager's discretion whether they are willing to override another 50% or not.
- What about releases that will/supposed to be released before 3/20?
- If your local store is supposed to receive the product, it will be/should be discoutned @ 50% off as well.
- Computer kiosk
- If your local store's inventory is off, you can still order the product as the discounted price if it's listed on BestBuy.com. However you would have to pay S/H and it ships directly to you.
- You can place pre-orders on very select products. Some of the releases that goes past March. The discounted prices are reflected (at the moment) in the sense that your local store is supposed to receive the product. And this discounted pricing may vary from location to location.

Best Buy Anime 50% Off Sale FAQ (B&M / YMMV) - 3/1 to 3/20/09
Story: ICv2 | ANN
The selection will be cut at approximately 800 stores out of Best Buy's just over 1,000 (1,006 as of February 19) stores in the USA. Of these, 461 stores will carry only the top-20 titles.
The 461 stores that will be cutting their selection to A-List-only titles will be holding a clearance sale with their usual prices reduced a further 50%. The sale will run from March 1 to March 21. The entire list of stores is as follows (LIST):
Story: ICv2 | ANN
- 50% off listed/stickered price on all anime DVD releases
- NOTE: Select titles may not ring up at the right price. Ether check the prices as the cashier rings out your product(s) or check your receipt before you leave the store.
- You can also check the prices of the products on the computer kiosk(s). The actual price will be displayed on BestBuy.com if your store has the product in-stock (1 or more) showing on their system. This will tell you if a price override will be required as long as the product is listed on BestBuy.com.
- Blu-ray release are not included with the exception of Afro Samurai. A manager's override will be required, so your experience may vary.
- What about mis-priced products? The pricing label shows one price and the discounted price doesn't add up.
- It's up to manager's discretion whether they are willing to override another 50% or not.
- What about releases that will/supposed to be released before 3/20?
- If your local store is supposed to receive the product, it will be/should be discoutned @ 50% off as well.
- Computer kiosk
- If your local store's inventory is off, you can still order the product as the discounted price if it's listed on BestBuy.com. However you would have to pay S/H and it ships directly to you.
- You can place pre-orders on very select products. Some of the releases that goes past March. The discounted prices are reflected (at the moment) in the sense that your local store is supposed to receive the product. And this discounted pricing may vary from location to location.

I just read the Upcoming R1 Anime Releases list and saw, that FUNiMATiON is publishing lots of re-released viridian collection boxes.
Whats the difference between the "old" viridian box set and the new viridian box set?
I read that the difference is the "Fullscreen" Feature that replaces the "Anamorphic Widescreen".

Just got back from Farmington Hills a bit ago, and got through with no real problems. I had a few titles that rang up full price, but a manger fix them for me.
heres what I picked up:
Kenshin Meiji Era Premium Boxset- $56.00 <-- I have been watching this boxset sitting in this location for the past 3 years. Its finally mine.
When They Cry vol 6
Suzuka vol 6 <---this was $9.99 on the kiosk but $21.99 when it rang up. I talked to the manger and had her price match the kiosk.
Welcome to the NHK Part 2- I had the first 3 singles so this help me out.
Kodacha Season 1- $25
Code Geass Part 1
I'll try a different store each day, because I have a few titles I'm going back for. I'll post my findings- I hope I can find more rare sets.
Can you order titles, have them for a store pickup and then get the discount? I really want tog et Case Closed 2 and 3 but 2 isn't in stores any longer.
Also- is it true if you buy titles at another store you can take them over for a price reduction? I'd rather not buy a title for $50 and then not be able to get the price changed.

In terms of quality (picture, packaging,...), the Viridian line is somewhat/mostly up to par to the original boxset release. Depending on your setup, you may spot differences in picture quality. The original boxset packaging is usually preferred over the Viridian line.
