Breakfast at Tiffany's Centennial Collection 2 disc 7.50 at Target (ymmv?)

Saw one copy labelled as such, thought I was going to have to argue, but then found an enormous pile of them in another place, also labelled 7.50. Took one to a register to purchase, payed my 7.50+tax and smiled broadly as I'd come in for some of the Centennial Collection (not this one, but I don't own this movie at all and wanted it, so it was even better).

As seems to be the case with target, no guarantee your particular store has enough total titles to include this one, but it seemed to be a regular price for some reason.

If only the other CC titles would hit this price point...

So it rang up as $7.50?

whoops. I shouldn't post after extended work days.
Yes, it actually rang up at 7.50. That was somehow supposed to be subtly conveyed by my bringing it up to purchase and then paying with no mention of hassle.
A little too subtle for anyone who isn't the author, though.

I got that impression from what you said, but I just wanted to make sure.

Nowhere to be seen at 3 Dallas area Targets ... the lady in charge of the DVD Dept. at one store told me that she remembered having it but thought it was pulled out of the store inventory (and returned to where ever such things get returned) due to lack of interest ... guess I'll just wait for it to turn up in an online sale ...

The extras on Disc 2 (as described by an Amazon reviewer) look interesting ...

A Golightly Gathering - A 20-minute featurette that reunites the talents who were in the cocktail party scene from "Breakfast at Tiffany's". One of the coolest parties ever on film, it's great to see the talent from the film reunite and discuss their experiences of filming that part scene 40-years later. I had no idea the party-scene took 8-days to film but it was great to hear everyone talk about their scene, working with Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard and Blake Edwards. But what a great featurette and so happy of it's inclusion.

Henry Mancini: More Than Music - This nearly 21-minute featurette is a wonderful featurette that features interviews with Henry Mancini's wife, daughter and son. Seeing private photos and even videos of Henry and having their family talk about him and what they remember about him, winning the two Academy Awards for "Moon River" and working on other films is just wonderful.

Mr. Yunioshi: An Asian Perspective - A 17-minute featurette. Despite the popularity of the film, the black cloud that has lingered on this film was the casting of Mickey Rooney as "Mr. Yunioshi". A talented actor, the "yellow face" role was just wrong and acknowledge by the director, producer and a cast member was just terribly wrong in casting Rooney for that role. This feature has interviews with representatives of the Media Action Network of Asian Americans. I'm glad that Paramount did include this featurette on this collection.

The Making of a Classic - Originally from the Anniversary release, this segment features interviews with Producer Richard Shepherd and Director Blake Edwards. A 16-minute featurette and you definitely learn a lot about the film, especially from Blake Edwards. One could image how his director's commentary would have been if included, especially with what he had to say on this featurette.

It's So Audrey: A Style Icon - An eight minute featurette with interviews with designers, Hepburn's son and companion. How Audrey Hepburn made simple things quite sexy. How Audrey never thought of her body proportions that sexy but she did have a good eye for style and how she became a fashion and style icon.

Behind the Gates: The Tour - This 4 minute featurette gives people a look behind the gates of the Paramount lot. A good promotional for those who would like to tour the Paramount lot.

Brilliance in a Blue Box - A six minute featurette about the history of Tiffany's. Originally featured on the Anniversary DVD.

Audrey's Letter to Tiffany - A two minute featurette about the letter Audrey wrote for the preface of the 150th Anniversary book for Tiffany's.

Original Theatrical Trailer - The original two minute trailer with its dust, scratches and all.

Galleries - Featuring production stills, movie stills and publicity shots for the film.

Tempting but I'll be okay with my older version until this hits Blu-ray. Same goes for "Sunset Boulevard" and "Roman Holiday".

Interestingly, this was the case at the local Target here as well. Along with all of the Paramount Centennials disappearing, so have the small collection of Criterion Collection discs they had out. That was quick.

My store had like ten copies of the old version for 7.50. I think you just got lucky.

I of course suspected that was the edition they meant. Wandered into another Target in the area, found a single copy of the pink/white SE instead.

I'd seen Sunset/Sabrina/Roman at the store I went to tonight, though. Strangely, they no longer had those three in the same place--I found tags for them (17.99, alas!) in another place, but zero copies.

Bizarre.

Still, as I say, it rang up 7.50, no questions asked...

Update: I went to my local Target and bought this title, so I can confirm that the Centennial Collection is available at this price at multiple locations.

No luck at my local Target (Mayfield Hts, OH). I didn't see any of the Centennial Collection titles, nor could I find tags for them on the racks.

I hadn't planned to upgrade to these newer versions, but for that price- I considered it. Not finding any of them made that decision an easy one.

Thanks OP! I was able to get this at my local Target for 7.50 too. They had them in a section with lots of other movies for 7.50. I checked the main DVD wall first and almost gave up, but encountered the 7.50 section on the way out of the DVDs. It rang up just like you said. No hassle. I didn't see any other Centennial Collection titles there, though.

Amazon, has several of the Centennial Collection titles for 12.49 right now. I just ordered Roman Holiday and Sabrina. They also have Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, and Sunset Boulevard for that price.

Good point - it was the same at my Target - they were located away from the main DVD wall, with other $7.50 sale titles.

No luck here either - I'm convinced that our Target considers any film produced before 2004 to be too old to be of any interest to customers ~~!

Found it at mine (Reynoldsburg, OH) on the last rack I checked. It was clearly marked, it just took a while because they had several different $7.50 displays.

Thanks OP!

It *seems* that stores are replacing the old pink & white packages with the new Centennial Collection edition as stock is depleted. My advice is to keep checking if you don't see this.. my suspicion is it will appear. Great deal.. thanks OP!

The 2 disc set was available at the Mt Vernon NY store for $7.50. There were several copies on 2/14/09. I did not see any of the other Centennial collection films at Target

There is a stack of them available at the Target store in Mountain View, CA for $6.50. Wahoo, thanks for pointing out the deal, as I would have just passed it by without having read this thread.

^ Dropped down to $6.50 here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as well, with about 8 copies left.

Picked up the last copy at my local Target (City Place) ... the pic of the DVD in the weekly ad is the regular edition (not the 2 Disc Centential Collection)
