Speedy, you'll be missed, buddy. I always appreciated your dedication to this forum...without payment of any kind. We had some laughs and some low points with the Circuit Shitty fiasco, but you survived because you're tough. It will be the same with your new job search. Remaining positive is the key! Enjoy those unemployment benefits as long as you can before starting a new job. That's what I did a few years back.
There are many of us who have gone through similar negative situations, and bounced back to fight another day. You will too, Speedy. Employers are searching for dedicated and unselfish folks like you. Keep in touch. You have many friends here!

Thanks for all your hard work Speedy. Thanks to you, I was able to save hundreds of dollars and get a head start on making sure I was at the store(s) on Sunday to get something on sale.
Good luck with your employment search and I look forward to seeing you around here.

I feel for you Speedy, I got fired about a week and a half ago as well and despite sending out a ton of applications I'm still jobless. Good luck.

You will always be remembered for the hard work and great deals you posted. You are what is good about forums such as this. As we would say in the Navy....
May you have fair winds and following seas.
Be well, Speedy

This is very sad news. I take it that speedy's employment is what made his access to the ads early possible, because just being unemployed wouldn't preclude posting the ads unless his job was the way he got them in the first place. You never realize how important one person's access to information can be until you can no longer benefit from it. Best wishes to you, speedy, and thanks for all you've done.
The American (and world) economy is skidding into a depression, yet the frightened and ignorant American voters foolishly voted even more Democrats into power, as if the past two years of decline and corruption weren't clue enough that more of the same was a bad idea. Now we've got a tax cheat running the Treasury Dept and IRS. Mull that over in the unemployment lines, kids.

I shall miss my close contact with them as well.

Speedy -- thanks for the posting of ads over the years -- your dedication and service has been very much appreciated.
If you are comfortable giving out the info -- can you tell us the line of work you are in/or looking for and your geographical location? Maybe there is someone on the board here that can offer assistance or suggestion for future career opportunities.

Re: Best Buy Prices: February 1 - February 7, 2009 FAREWELL EDITION
My personal and computer precautions served me well during the Circuit City fiasco.
But the actual drama had a mental toll that was quite severe.
It took a monumental effort on my part to get back into the "saddle" and start posting again.
It helped that I always believed that what I was doing was actually beneficial to both the retailers and to DVDTalkers / CAGsters alike.
As I stated above: I shall truly miss you all.

Speedy, I have posted infrequently on your threads, but your threads were one of the main, if not THE MAIN, reasons I would frequent dvdtalk. I enjoyed the information, but I also enjoyed the humour and commraderie that was so evident week in and week out.
Your Circuit City incident proved to us all that you are a force to be reckoned with, and I have NOT ONE DOUBT that some company will be lucky enough to find you and offer you employment.
You certainly are a Legend and Icon, and I'll bet you don't have any idea just how far your weekly posts have reached. I've come across information in other forums that I know came from you by the way you post your weekly threads, forums I don't think you frequent. Sometimes you would get the credit, sometimes you wouldn't, but those of us that read your weekly posts here at dvdtalk knew.
I wish you all the best, and remember, "You never know what the tide is going to bring," and "The sun WILL rise again."
(I had chinese for lunch today, and this is what my fortune cookie had for me today: "The mightiest oak in the forest is just a little nut that held its ground.")
