Re: $5.99 HD DVD titles

Inet now has a few titles they haven't had, and I don't either, so as soon as they have another free shipping event I'll probably place another order and hopefully be abel to get some of the newer titles. BTW, I have never paid a dime in shipping there, only ordering during there free shipping sales. They have bumped the prices of some titles for those sales but it's still cheaper than paying their shipping on the cheap titles.

Well, my mindset has completely changed regarding buying movies. Given the current economic situation, I'm now seeking out ultra bargains. Luckily, I still have my old, trusty A1 HD DVD player. So I decided to order from traderbora. I'm a Prime member, so this really makes those $5 titles that much sweeter. There's plenty of Universal titles listed that aren't on BD yet. I think I'd rather have alot of them at $5 a pop vs $20 on BD. Someone else can keep buying $20 BD catalog titles. Not me.

Same here. I have been selling most of my BD's that are available on hd-dvd for $5 or less. I think I have purchased about 60 hd-dvds for $5 or less in the past 2 months.

Looks like some titles went down in price. I saw a few for $3.99 and $4.49 and had to place yet another order :D 7 HD-DVDs for $31

Any other deals on HD-DVDs?

Awesome, indeed. I thought I had all the HD DVDs that I wanted, but a recently acquired $25 gift certificate knew better . . .:)

Somewhere between 3-400, I think. There are 379 HD DVD reviews here, but I think those include some foreign releases. Might be some duplicates in there also. However, I suspect there are some US titles which might not have gotten a review.

I'm sure there's someone here who could provide a more exact number, though.

Re: $5.99 HD DVD titles

HD DVD Stats lists 436.

DVD Empire lists 443.

DVDAf lists 501 (with a couple/few dozen of those being cancelled, re-released versions of combos, etc.)

Michael's Movie Mayhem lists 509 (including Mountain Winds: Music Experience in 3-Dimensional Sound Reality which is founder under a HD DVD search rather than HD-DVD) including the various re-releases and cancelled.

Based on those numbers, I guess I have a little ways to go. I'm over the 300 mark though.

Re: $5.99 HD DVD titles

I'll try not to spew as much as I usually do regarding my opinions on HD-DVDs and pricing:

I already got sucked (or suckered) into buying many HD-DVDs I really wanted when they were around $5.99 each (some as high as $9 like Happy Feet). Seeing them drop to $3.99, $3.54, $1.99 or whatever just further reinforces that I jumped in too early and makes me reluctant to buy at any price because I figure the price will just drop further and I'm tired of getting burned.

Once the price drops fell under $5 I told myself I could waste a fortune rebuying HD-DVD I already own on SD, so I told myself I'd only buy HD-DVDs that I don't already own on SD. Very few fall in that category now.

It appears I've reached the point where I can go through the various Inetvideo or traderbora Amazon sales and all of the cheapest ($3.54) stuff is what I already bought or own on SD or HD-DVD. A large number of the SDs are ones I bought from the $5 bin from Walmart in years past, so paying $3.54 for the HD-DVD makes my $5 SD purchase seem like a total waste unless it's one of my favorite movies.

As a result, I can't justify the HD-DVDs any more. I wish I could get my $5 back on my unopened SDs and then I could buy the $3.54 HD-DVDs instead, but unfortunately that's not possible as I'm years past the 90 day limits. So it's a bummer, but I'll just live with the $5 SDs.

By the way, my same philosophy applies to Blu-Ray. I've passed on all of the numerous $9.99 BR titles if I already own them on SD.

There are probably around 50-75 titles which are just complete and utter crap, so if you're at 300 or so, you're doing very good. We had several "HD" releases for various scenics and scapes released by a few idiot producers. I won't name them, but their quality was crap.

I think I want about 10 more titles which are available only in the UK and such, and I'm just kinda waiting until they show up somewhere.

How many porn HD-DVDs are there? Those haven't been as easy to get at clearance prices so far. I was thinking about trying to get all of those at least if they ever get cheap enough. I've already got almost every combo disc that was released, and have been buying every HD-DVD under 5 bucks that comes up.

too bad you have to make a minimum of $100 purchase

MY total was over 100, then down to 2, but with these prices I am back up near 50. Minus the movies I have on blu-ray already I am going to keep picking them up. It is crazy that they are cheaper than SD versions. 200-250 should get me close.

Someone on another forum reported that they shipped his $20 order so it doesn't look like they're real strict about it. He got an email saying his order wasn't large enough but a couple days later, got another email saying his order was shipped. YMMV.

there's a whole lot of them down to .99, 1.99, 2.44 etc. Transformers is 1.99 for instance. Just crazy. Heroes and BG are now 8.49 w/ free shipping from Amazon...that's just nuts and i'm finally getting BG after not having seen it at all....heard such great things though.
