In the projector world, Optoma would not be considered an "unknown." I recommend starting with http://www.optomausa.com/ and see what they offer for warranties.

Not trying to shill them or anything, I just came across them when buying a monitor off eBay. I haven't had to turn it in for service or anything, but the reviews seem positive enough. Though I'm honestly hoping I never have to bother with it, as boxing up a 24" monitor would be a pain...

In the event the OP can't get an extended warranty from them, SquareTrade.com allows you to purchase extended warranties for most anything you buy in terms of electronics. They also have a 30% off coupon specifically for Circuit City Liquidation (CCLIQUIDATION). Since he mentioned third party as an alternative, figured I'd throw them out there.

Grabbed a few more items at 60% off at various stores:
Hairspray (BluRay) $12
Vantage Point (BluRay) $12
Phantom Of The Opera (BluRay) $10
Eragon (BluRay) $14
plus
Ringo Starr - Liverpool 8 (CD) $5.60
Still interested in knowing if the 66th ST Manhattan store is still open - any NY folks know?
One NJ store I was in yesterday had a sign "Closing March 8th"
Also still looking for Superhero Movie & Sleuth (2007) both on BluRay - plus Flash Gordon Saviour of the Universe Edition DVD - anyone spot these anywhere in the NJ/NY area?

I was told that all Washington State stores are closing Monday. CD/DVD are at 60%. Almost no cd's left, even that piece of junk Mary J Blige exclusive was almost gone. They have restickered ALL dvd's; some of the tv box set stickered prices were a joke.

CD's/DVD's are marked 60% off at the Fields Ertel store in Cincinnati, but Sunshine rang up at 70% off. $6.82 (with tax) out the door. 9 days left at this store.

One more purchase:
The Sand Pebbles Blu Ray - $14
The Getaway (1972) Blu Ray - $10
(They had one copy of The Getaway that I picked up off the rack, but it was a floater so I put it back. Then while heading up to get in line I saw another copy just sitting out of place on a shelf near the line and I quickly grabbed it.)

Gridiron Gang
OZ-Season 6
The Dark Knight
Reno 911 Season 2
$37 dollars total
Oh, and Tuesday night I picked up a Onyko surround sound for $380.00...and it worked out perfectly because I had put aside $450.00 to buy it from Crutchfield!

I would have them scan them, anyway. Three DVD's I bought rang up less than the stickered price... I also saw three different copies of one title, each with a different sticker price. It rang up lower than ALL of them...

I've run across this a lot...piles of the ones I had were stickered 14.99 but rang up at 60% off of 9.99, clearly just a price change that never got put into effect sticker-wise
often their box set prices have been a joke. but, see above.

Thing is the tags I'm seeing on the dvd's aren't even the regular cc style price tags. The ones on the cd's ARE regular CC tags.

There are at least five different kinds of regular CC tags....tall, square, tall green stripe, square green stripe, big square (usually also a security device)...

Finally saw a deal worth grabbing: "Generation Kill" for $24. And got Ice Cube's last CD for $5, cuz I'm gangsta like that.
Also, in the week between my visits (during which they went from 50% to 60%) they went from having several shelves of Blu-rays to, literally, one ("Fool's Gold").

After 5 trips, finally broke down and bought something. Got the The Shield S6 for $18. One aisle of DVDs left. Slim pickings. No Blu left.

My brother and my sister each found Optoma HD 71 s at their local CC for $449...both times they were behind the counter on a shelf, not really being advertised, so if anyone is in the market for a projector, they might want to double check.

Yea, ours in Richland is closing after today. I went and checked out what was left. Mostly CDs, printer ink and car audio cables.
