I was shopping at Midtown Comics in NYC on Thursday, where I bumped into a former employee of the Times Square location. He said that the Union Square store would be closing by the weekend and that their deals were now insanely cheap. Justifying the trip as something of a farewell visit, I hopped a subway downtown to shop around. The sale seems to be 40% off everything -- certainly good but far from the "practically giving it all away" prices this former employee was indicating. I did find some WAY obscure stuff I'd been hoping to buy for ages (solo releases by Phil Lewis of L.A. Guns and Ted Poley of Danger Danger), so for me the trip was worthwhile, but the sale prices are still not tremendous. I was also informed that the store had just extended their closing sale by two final weeks and will now shutter its doors on June 14th, if anyone would still like to make a last visit or two.

A little part of me will die what that sad day comes... :(

So in other words, 40% off a regularly priced $30 Virginmegastore dvd is still more expensive than any other store...what a joke!

They have extended the closing till June 14th. No deals to be had yet at 40% off MSRP.
