SoCal Ralphs Supermarkets have some really good deals. YMMV

Not sure if all Ralphs have this up yet so YMMV and all stores might not have the same DVDs, but it's worth checking out. Many of these have been seen at Ross Dress For Less and Big Lots. I picked up the following:

Boomtown 5-disc Season 1 $7.99
Angels In America HBO 2-disc set $4.99
The Best of Clifford The Big Red Dog 5-disc set $7.99
Dogville $4.99
Unscripted HBO 2-disc set $4.99
Broken Flowers $4.99
K Street The Complete Series HBO 2-disc set $5.99
Doogal $6.99
Close To Jesus 4-disc set $7.99

I also saw plenty of HD DVDs that were flippers and had standard DVDs on the other side. All the DVDs are between $3.99-$7.99. Also saw Moonlighting Season 3 for $7.99 and plenty of other boxsets.

I will have to check out my local Ralphs (gotta go foodshopping anyway...). Where were the these exactly? By the Customer Service desk or just randomly around?

The store I was at (Rock n' Roll Ralphs on Sunset) had them in the front of the store right next to the frozen food isle. They weren't in a shipper, they were placed neatly in a 3 tier wire rack that the store uses.

I'm not really positive how it got that nickname. It's on Sunset Blvd, with clubs close by...so there's plenty of rockers....but there's also plenty of weirdos, strippers and prostitutes.

I'll give mine a shot today. My buddy is a manager so it shouldn't be too hard to locate them.

I finally saw these (at the Ralphs in Sherman Oaks). They also have a lot of HD DVD titles ranging from $4.99 to $7.99. Elizabeth the Golden Age, Miami Vice, others I can't remember.

correct, lots of rockers as there are a number of recording studios within a few blocks of there. my faves are the weirdos though.

My local Ralphs does not carry them (I asked my friend who is a manager). Hopefully these will eventually show up. I'll check out a few more in the area if I'm close to them.

Re: SoCal Ralphs Supermarkets have some really good deals. YMMV

Stopped by my local Ralphs grocery store and saw the assortment of dvds. They were in a cardboard display. Mostly they were HD/SD combo discs, Lionsgate and HBO titles, with a few MGM scattered in. It looks like there were 2 copies of each title when the display was set-up.

Here are some of the titles:

HD/SD combo disk - Slither $5.99
HD/SD combo disk - Dazed and Confused $3.99
HD/SD combo disk - Fearless (Unrated) (starring Jet Li) $5.99
HD/SD combo disk - Eastern Promises $5.99
HD/SD combo disk - The Hitcher (remake starring Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill) $3.99
HD/SD combo disk - Miami Vice (Unrated Director's Edition) (starring Jamie Fox, Conlin Farrell) $5.99
HD/SD combo disk - The Kingdom (starring Jennifer Garner of Alias) $5.99
HD/SD combo disk - Smokin' Aces $5.99
Boomtown Season One $7.99
Moonlighting Season 3 $6.99
Moonlighting Season 5 $6.99
Missing Season 2 $5.99
HBO Angels in America $4.99
Joan of Arc $3.99
HBO K Street $5.99

and other titles...

I've now seen these HD DVDs and DVDs with the same stickers that Ralphs had on them show up at Albertsons. My friend picked up Half Baked and Hot Fuzz HD Combos yesterday.
