Oh man, I was waiting for The Wire to drop below $100, I just didn't think it would be so soon. I hope I get a gift card for Christmas.

Target will have this game for the PS3 / Wii / 360 starting on 12/28/08 for $39 if that helps.

Not sure how they will stock the floors with the HBO sets for this sale. At the Best Buy near me, they are using the security "webbing" on some of their HBO sets. The lone copy of "The Wire" on display was completely crushed (on every side) due to this stuff. I had to ask 3 times for another set. I guess most people are just happy to get their sets, crushed or not…

Just a word of warning to everyone getting in on the HBO 50% off sale. I recommend buying in-store and not online. Last year I got screwed when ordering The Wire S1-4. I ordered on Black Friday for a really good price at the time (can't remember how much exactly) and then waited and waited and waited for my order. In the meantime I watched the same deal come and go on Amazon, but of course I did not order it from them because mine was already coming.
After contacting Best Buy through email and phone and getting no help with the status of the order I was surprised to get an email just days after Christmas that the order was cancelled. No explanation, just cancelled. It seems that they feel if they can get out of honoring a good sale price they will.
So, I recommend getting what you want in-store or if you have to order online to wait and see if Amazon matches the prices throughout the week.

Amazon has matched this sale every year so I see no reason why they wouldn't do it again. In fact, I'm hoping they do so I can get my Deadwood and The Wire Complete sets.

That's good to hear about Amazon. My local BB has 2 sets of the Wire Complete Series so I guarantee those will be gone by tomorrow. Walmart and other stores didn't have any so I can't price match and I'd prefer to wait til after Christmas once I get some money. Just yesterday I rented some DVDs of The Wire from my library and I'm already hooked so I need to get this.

Anyone know if Amazon will have the sale even on the sets not pictured in the ad?

Amazon has indeed dropped their prices to match Best Buy. The Wire for $90 with no tax and Prime shipping is an awesome deal!

Some sets, like Carnivale season 1 and 2, are even cheaper at Amazon.

I know Amazon doesn't do their price adjustments anymore, but I just sent them an annoyed email just in case I can get something out of this. I am a huge Wire fan and I pre-order this item through Amazon....paying $134.99 for it just a few weeks ago. I would have waited, but I completely forgot about this HBO sale happening last year.

I would just go ahead and buy this from Amazon, but I dig the music of The Wire and want that Best Buy Exclusive Soundtrack.

Has it been less than 30 days? If so order another copy today and return the new copy in the old ones place.

I went ahead and ordered Deadwood and Entourage S.4 from Amazon. I really want Sopranos, but I've only heard bad things about the packaging and wouldn't know where to put it. I'll wait for the individual sets to come down in price.

I own Deadwood seasons 1 and 2. Also all The Wire seasons but season 5. Looks like Amazon isn't price matching those individual seasons so I'm going to order them from BB.com and chose in-store pickup. Trying to convince myself to get Extras season 2 and Entourage season 4 as well.

Picked up the last The Wire set at my local Best Buy. It had the exclusive cd set. I do not like the packaging for the discs but I don't mind the size. I think I'm going to get one of those soft cd cases and just store all of the discs in that. Thanks Speedy for the heads up!
