question
will amazon let us return parts of promotional deals? for example, this order was split into two parts, one part being: Item(s) Subtotal: $70.96 Shipping & Handling: $5.95 Super Saver Discount: -$5.95 Promotion Applied: -$23.45 ----- Total Before Tax: $47.51 Sales tax: $0.00 ----- Total for this Shipment: $47.51 that was for the blu ray movies. would they let me return this portion if it has its own separate receipt and shipment? |

Unlike other etailers, Amazon aren't saps. They won't let you return part of a promotion that would void the terms of said promotion. This could also lead to Amazon banning you from their site(Amazon did a mass banning a couple of months ago of customers that they thought were abusive). It's not worth it, just be happy with your deal and enjoy that player!:) |
Agreed, Sweet Baby James!

haha, thanks for the info.

Thanks, Sweet. I got in on it, but at the 219.95 price. Still one helluva deal... Plus the selection of titles is MUCH better...

My Sony BDP-S550 Blu-Ray player has been delivered to my neighbors house! Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to get it, because I work late. AAARRRRGGGG! I hate having to wait.

 She's over 70 years old, and doesn't have a television set (she listens to the radio for her entertainment). If she can find a way to enjoy it, more power to her!

I ordered the Panasonic DMP-BD35K as a part of this deal and it showed up yesterday. So I put it through the paces last night and was overall very impressed (especially after I figured out how to set it to 24Hz mode), although I think my Toshiba HD-A30 does a somewhat better job as a SD DVD upconverter. And I was really impressed by the Panasonic's small size - it's the smallest player I've ever owned.

Is this deal dead?
|
unfortunately yes.

I have a quick question. I almost pulled the trigger on this deal. Put in the code and was down to the final "click" when I backed away. I did not remove the items from my cart and kept checking back since the price of the player (BD55k) kept changing.
Deal is dead but, when I go into my cart, it still shows the promotion applied. If I clicked that final button, would it still apply the promotion or would it order the player/movies without it? |
Dang it. I hope they have another soon. :(

Well, I would but the player went back up and I was hoping it'd go back down. Damn Amazon with their yo-yo pricing.

I got my Sony BDP-S550 on Monday (left at neighbors house). Hooked it up Tuesday, and got The Dark Knight Batman Mask 2-Disc Edition from Target. Even hooked up to my 27 inch Sony Trinitron set, I can tell a big difference in picture quality. I can't wait to get my new HD set, which I plan to order next week! Then, Wednesday night, when I got home, the four Blu-Ray Discs I ordered along with the deal had arrived (Batman Begins, Superman: The Movie, Superman Returns, and Speed Racer). I also found the Blu-Ray of Meet The Robinson Disney sent me by mistake, instead of the DVD, during a promotion they had some time ago. It's amazing how much better everything looks played on the Blu-Ray player. I can only imagine how awesome it is going to look when I get my HD set.
Which leads me to my question. I have a small one bedroom apartment. My television set is about 8 to 10 feet away from my couch. I am thinking about ordering a Samsung 42 inch 720 Plasma (Samsung PN42A400 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV). Would that be sufficient for the distance I am sitting away from the television, as well as the size of the screen? Is there any reason to believe that I would be able to tell the difference if I went up to 1080p? The reason I ask, is because the price is much cheaper for the 720p, and I don't want to spend the extra money if I am not really going to be able to tell any real difference. Thanks for any advice that you can give me! |

Thanks for any advice that you can give me! As for 720p vs. 1080p native resolution sets: I honestly cannot tell the difference between the two on sets below about 50" in size. And even on larger HDTV sets, the difference looks rather marginal until the screen size gets really big (i.e. front projector "big"). So if you can get a great deal on a 720p set, I say go for it! |

They keep jacking up the price on the BD35. They even raised the price on one of the movies that I had selected.:(

Thanks for any advice that you can give me! Based on this chart, you would see little difference between 720p and 1080p on a 42 inch screen at eight to ten feet. |
