There's some kind of major sale going on, or price-matching, or something, at Amazon right now. I looked at the tvshowsondvd.com site, which has a list of all the TV on DVD on sale at Amazon, and there are some really great prices!

Geofferson 11-24-08 01:23 PM

Thanks for heads-up!

stronghold7000 11-24-08 01:27 PM

Kung Fu complete collection for $34; Reno 911 1, 2 $9.99 each; Sealab, Harvey Birdman $8.49 each. Some great deals. Thanks for the shield heads up and the tvshowsondvd link.

Ordered! Thanks OP, fantastic deal!

Ravenous 11-24-08 02:36 PM

Great price! Id be all over this but I found the set about a month ago for $8 :)

Any links to all the sale items?

jiggyblau 11-24-08 05:44 PM

I saw this in the morning too, since I'd had it in my cart. Then I wondered if Best Buy had the same price, since Amazon has been aggressive in matching them. Sure enough, Best Buy has all seasons for $15.99, along with others (just filter by TV and "on sale" on the BB site). I bought it from BB as I had a gift card. Great deal!

MichaelMeyers 11-24-08 05:54 PM

great deal....was waiting for a price drop to pick this up.

chris_sc77 11-24-08 06:14 PM

I picked it up. Been waiting for a good deal on this one. Thanks OP. Also got the Miriam Collection Joy Division DVD and the new Coldplay EP for under $31.00 shipped.

Thanks for the heads-up! I cancelled my Amazon order and placed an order for in-store pick-up because I have a BB gift card as well.

haha, all of Rescue Me is on sale at Best Buy as well and I stupidly bought it 2 months ago at 24.99 because I was so desperate...and yet, have not opened it. Go me.

kyle 11-24-08 10:37 PM

After Best Buy wouldn't take the $10 off $75 coupon they mailed me (since a sale price is considered an "offer" that can't be combined with the coupon), I walked next door and was able to price match all the bestbuy.com seasons at circuit city for $13.59 each!

JoN8282 11-26-08 01:43 AM

thanks op - im in.

TabascoKid 11-26-08 08:33 AM

Thanks, OP. Was ready to pick this up at the DD sale when I saw your post. Bought it via Amazon instead.

Ah, missed that.

Good chance to upgrade to the widescreen editions.

It'd be an "upgrade" only for those people who want to lose some of the original picture and dispense with the way the show was originally presented just to fill up their widescreen TVs.

Trinitron 11-27-08 12:07 PM

Jury seems to be out on that.

I'm probably keeping both. The new sets have some "apple and orange" advantages, but something about the picture seems a little *too* clean, and the originals definitely seem more faithful overall to the original broadcasts.

jackepstein 11-27-08 12:25 PM

i sold my Full Screen sets and rebought in Widescreen. I'm not regretting the decision at all.

The screen caps in that thread unfortunately don't work anymore -- at least not for me. Nevertheless, the discs being "more faithful overall to the original broadcasts," as you mentioned, is important -- especially since "The Shield" was always supposed to have an on-the-fly, low-tech, documentary-like feel to it.

kyle 11-27-08 07:20 PM

I saved all of season 7 on my tivo and even switched to the FX HD for the finale--so disappointed to see it is still shown in FF even on the HD station--the quality looked like crap on TV. May need to wait for WS DVDs for season 7. I think it airs in WS in AU and the UK. From the screen caps listed in one of the posts above, it looks like it is the full frame versions that are matted/cropped--there is extra stuff on the sides, not the top/bottom.
