Great list. Thanks for all of the hard work.

Not sure if these titles have been mentioned before but I have found:

The Wild Bunch - Original Director's Cut (Snapper)(WB)
8MM 2 - the R rated version (I only saw the unrated version on the list)
Truth or Consequences NM - WS/FS (I had to look at hundreds of FS only versions before I found this one.)

If anyone finds Swimming with Sharks in the NC Triangle area, please let me know....

FangsFirst, I didn't see Swimming With Sharks at the Cary store. But I was on my lunch break so I kinda had to haul ass and get back to work so I didn't get to look too throroughly. I might go back tomorrow, I noticed several that I missed on the main list.

One I saw today that I didn't see mentioned was American Psycho 2.

Swimming with Sharks is an excellent flick. I have the older version myself.

Because who the hell wants that piece of crap? ;)

I found a display at the Roxboro St Durham store, but no Sharks in it...got most of the others I was after, until I remembered Dr. T had an SE. Hoping to exchange it at one of the Triangle stores for Sharks.

Thanks, though, as Cary is the store I know is best at getting things out (and I know a guy there, kinda, from my constant visits--though the Durham stores are wary of my periodic mass returns after I get home and check reviews on titles I picked up and find dogs in them--they think I'm re-sealing them or SOMETHING...)

The ad starts on Saturday 12/13 here in California. I went to a Biglots that earlier in the week did NOT have the Lionsgate/Artisan dvds out and sure enough they had the assortment out with the "As Advertised $2 dvds" sign taped to the two trays of dvds.

It looks like some of the Biglot stores put them out early.

Quatermass 12-13-08 02:57 PM

I tried to go to the BigLots near me earlier today but aborted the mission. It's a small store and it was just way too crowded. I can't believe people are supposedly shopping less this Christmas. I've never seen the stores so crowded.

I know what you mean. I go crazy and then get home and find out some of these are not worth $2/$3.

I thought with this Artisian batch, I wouldn't pick up too many, but got 21 titles. At least half I know I will keep. I actually had to restrain myself and not buy everything I thought I might like. I've picked up so many in the last year, I have got to be more selective.

Okay, I checked back today and didn't see Swimming With Sharks anywhere. They'll probably get it soon though. They did move the DVDs since yesterday, now all of them are over in the little Electronics section over by the shopping carts. Which makes it an absolute pain in the ass to look through because the metal 4-sided shelf is way too close to the two cardboard displays. It's seriously about a foot and a half away from them, I could barely crouch to see the bottom titles.

Same here.

The gf and I spent the day X-Mas shopping, and it was fucking insane. The stores were crowded, the lines were long, there was nowhere to park, and traffic was a mess. We're in the Midwest, which doesn't seem to have been hit too hard by the current economic crisis, so I can't know if it's like this in the rest of the country.

ETA: Back on topic, picked up a "Singles" DVD from Big Lots today; the bar code was only very lightly scratched.

Got out to the OTHER Durham, NC store today (54/55)...had the same DVDs as the Roxboro St. ($2 lionsgate).

Still no sharks :\

lewisb73 12-14-08 10:42 PM

I scored about ten titles including
Moonlighting Season 3
Comedy Triple Pack: Includes 3 discs...Van Wilder, Boat Trip, and Going Overboard
Jean Claude Van Damme Double Feature
American Psycho 2 (in know its bad, but $2 will not kill me)
Godsend
Kickboxer 3 & 4 double feature
UFC Classics 3

Unfortuately no Swimming With Sharks, still have the old non AWS version

Cardsfan111 12-14-08 11:19 PM

^ Moonlighting, Season 3 - hadn't seen anyone list this before. I barely watched that show but wouldn't hesitate to pick it up cheap at BL.

Likewise.

RustyOrgan 12-15-08 09:06 AM

Woa - Moonlighting?? BRING IT!!

Lastdaysofrain 12-15-08 12:45 PM

How much was Moonlighting?

Keith123 12-15-08 01:09 PM

Excellent!(?)...just when I thought I had no reason to visit Big Lots the rest of the year this Moonlighting thing gets reported! When the Who's the Boss Season One was going strong there was a limited time the set could be found on the Amazon Marketplace between $3-4 plus shipping. And that might be better than spending a week driving around various Big Lots, if history repeats, and Moonlighting drops in price on Amazon for a while. We'll see. The cover to Season 3 looks the best of all the season sets in my opinion. This will probably fly out of the Big Lots stores faster than the James Bonds. If it is confirmed to be $3.00. http://www.amazon.com/Moonlighting-S...9367402&sr=1-2

Keith123 12-15-08 04:59 PM

Just got back from visiting two Big Lots stores(Trotwood, OH and Huber Heights, OH) didn't see any Moonlighting(didn't expect it with my luck) but lots of $2.00 dvd's. Here is what I got:

http://www.amazon.com/Body-Count-Aly...9379316&sr=1-1
UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship Classics Vol. 8 http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Fight...379169&sr=1-11
10.5 "The Day The Earth Would Not Stand Still" http://www.amazon.com/10-5-Peter-Ben...9378532&sr=1-2
American Psycho 2 http://www.amazon.com/American-Psych...9378407&sr=1-1
Redneck Comedy Roundup http://www.amazon.com/Redneck-Comedy...9378135&sr=1-1

Thought about also getting for $2.00 but didn't-
The Dentist (Horror flick with Corbin Bernsen) http://www.amazon.com/Dentist-Joanne...9378801&sr=1-1
A Christmas Carol: The Musical (2004 with Kelsey Grammer) http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Caro...9378996&sr=1-1

darkhawk 12-15-08 07:42 PM

Nothing new down here. Looking for the Lion's Gate dvds and for The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

zekeburger1979 12-15-08 08:56 PM

I got the new ad via e-mail today and there will be $2 DVDs starting Wednesday. Some have been reported here, but I'll put up what I can see from the ad:

Swimming with Sharks
Inspector Gadget (animated)
Open Water
Baby Movie
Shootout
Shanghai Suprise
Babar
4 more that I can't make out the title to. When the newspaper comes tomorrow, I'll post those titles if someone else hasn't yet.

moviezzz 12-15-08 09:16 PM

I went to two Big Lots this weekend. I saw one copy of MOONLIGHTING Season 3 for $2. The other Big Lots didn't have it.
