Weird thing late last night. They actually added one item (Chronological Donald 4 for $17+) to my order even though it wasn't actually in my cart when I went to the checkout. Had it in my cart at the very beginning of the sale, but deleted it once I heard it wasn't being honored. Obviously, I doubt it will be shipped, but thought it a strange glitch to have it added back in when I can't even find the individual listing anymore.

I don't understand why DVD Planet only had a couple of one-time use codes. Surely in this economy they'd want to encourage multiple purchases.

Maybe with their free shipping on orders over $35.
That they were trying to save some money
on shipping costs in this economy.
The shipping rates for the 1st pound for media mail
are the highest. Then its a flat rate after that.
Only a guess of coarse....

Place my last (3rd) order the "Save" code using more store credit ($195). Also looks like Blu-ray titles coming out tomorrow (11/25/08) are also being discounted by 25%.

Weird. They replied yesterday, said they were sending one right out. Also sent a pre-paid shipping email to return the old one. Got the shipping notification today, then received this a little while ago...

After reading your email we checked our current inventory. Unfortunately, this is how we received the item from the studios. We are in the process of returning all of our stock to the studios. We have already sent you another possibly tarnished copy and we will be sending you a revised copy as soon as we receive them. Please keep the incoming copy as my apology for your troubles.

They're idiots. I would have placed another order today if I had been able to. A grand total of three codes, each of which can only be used once? Whose bright idea was that?

It really is a case of them being idiots, b/c I've had no problem using the 25%OFF code multiple times. I've used that code 3 times & can use it again no problem. There is no rhyme or reason to this code system.

However I have had horrendous problems with my orders & getting straight answers from customer service. I've had an order placed on 11/8, the items have all shown in-stock ships within 24-48 hours, every single day since the 8th, yet they still have not shipped. The only answer they can give me, is b/c I placed the order mostly in store-credit, & partly by credit card, they are having trouble processing it. YET, I've placed 2 orders since then, on that same exact credit card & both have shipped What the hell!!!

Wait, so some people can use a code several times, and others can only use it once? How is that even possible?

Well, I was able to use the codes multiple times... but that's because the orders weren't technically going through (payment got through just fine though, ofc). I had to eventually call them and have them lump the multiple orders into one large order. So if you're getting multiple uses out of a code you might want to give CS a call on your order.

For free shipping, does it need to be $35 before or after the 25% discount? I searched for "free shipping" in the thread and didn't see an answer.

Before the discount. Which is nice.

I just placed an order that was about $40 before the discount, $30 after. Still got free shipping.

I almost went the whole sale without buying anything:

Okay, fuck it, I'm going for something. I have $5 in credit from point accumulation and I'm gonna use it!

Alain Delon Collection
$22.47 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Mother of Tears
$10.47 - Quantity: 1
Shipping Status - In Stock

Subtract $5 in points credit from that and it's mine for $27 shipped.

A 4-item order shipped on 11/11 still has not arrived. I presume that indicates it was shipped Media Mail.

However, a 1-item order shipped 11/12 and 2-item order shipped 11/14 both arrived on 11/17 via Priority Mail.

It would appear smaller orders have a better chance of getting the Priority upgrade to Hawaii; otherwise, literally slow boat shipping.

No dice! The coupon's dead early again. I tried using it at 10:52 central time, and it was working. Wanted to add 1 more item to the order 3 minutes later and it was dead. I guess this is supposed to be a lesson never to shop at DVDPlanet and only shop at Deepdiscount. I like that they took paypal and had a frequent buyer program, but these sale problems keep repeating themselves.

Based on the email timestamps I got tonight, their site runs 5 minutes ahead of time. So 10:55 CST=12 EST.

?? I would think the lesson would be to not wait until the last minute.

It's 12:57am CST (Tuesday 11/25) and the coupon [SAVE] still works for me.
Unfortunately - Spy Who Came In From The Cold is still listed as a pre-order - I thought I might be able to slip that one in...

Any predictions on how long it will be before the prices (I can only speak for BD, because it's the only thing that I look at) go back down in price to where they were before the sale?

DVDplanet has always seemed higher than most sites, but clearly they raised everything for the sale. If they don't bring them back down, I can't see anyone ordering from them who doesn't have store credit.

I also wonder if the prices on the quote machine were lowered to keep people from flooding them with shipments to use as credit for the dvds and, for those that did anyway, to keep the prices paid as credit down so they maxmized their profit during the sale.

If so, I wonder when they might adjust the prices back up. I know they've been lowered across the board before and gone up again. I really hope this is the case again. It would seem odd that they just happened to decide to lower what they would give as credit across the board right at the same time as a massive sale.

I'm crossing my fingers, because I don't think I need to send anything in until late Dec/early Jan and, hopefully, the price per dvd credit will be raised again by then.
