That's the old site. Once you click on "add a store" and enter your zip code, it redirects you to the new site, where you have to enter your zip code again, and the option for store availability is still missing on the product page. It used to be there before.

The new site still has the "check store inventory" option. It is under the "add to cart button," but not every item has the feature available. The old style "search inventory" continues to work for me. I think that is because the cookies on my home and work computers already have the stores in my area saved.

dullboy 09-17-08 12:51 PM

Sucks for me, then. I don't understand why the new site can't give you the search inventory option for every item when the old site could.

Here's the link I use to search inventory at Borders' stores and it works for me.

That link works, but if you don't have your stores saved, it redirects you to the new site when you go to add a store. Lucky for me, I have my local stores saved from long ago.

in my experience fiddling with it, the ones it doesn't give you the option for are titles no stores carry.

I used the 40% off coupon to order Torchwood series 1 on Blu-ray, or so I thought. I went back to the site today and the item is still in my cart (no longer eligible for the discount, of course). I entered my credit card information and I was pretty sure I had completed my order. Not sure what happened!

You can still add a store by selecting any item for in store pick up. You can then type in your zip code and it will allow you to select a store without redirecting you to the new site. You can only do one at a time, so just keep using the browser's back button to add additional stores.

Thanks and thanks!

I have been trying this now and it only lets me save one store, not six like before. I keep going back, but once that first store is saved, it uses that as the default for any in-store pick-up. I even cleared history/cookies and still couldn't get a second one added. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, at least the old site still exists somewhat. The new Borders site is terrible and absolutely useless to me. They have dropped tons of titles from their inventory. If it's OOP, it's no longer listed at all, even though some local stores may still have a copy in-stock. No way to find that out now. And if they want to become another Amazon, deleting all that old info on countless OOP titles will prevent them from ever starting a "Marketplace".

Just one hilarious example - try searching for the OOP DVD of "To Sir With Love" on the new Borders site. That disc is not listed at all anymore and wait until you see what comes up instead:

Big thanks for that coupon!

Used it today on Heroes: Season 2 and picked it up for $23.99 + tax.

DJ_Longfellow 09-20-08 07:26 AM

Awwww....does not work on Blu-Ray :( Oh well. Godfather would've been super cheap

Well, apparently it works on SOME Blu-Rays. Hereos S1 give me $20+ off. Odd. Hmmm, and other Pre-Orders work like LOST S4 on Blu. Godfather is under Box Sets also....weird.

*EDIT* Apparently the Godfather discount is ALREADY better than 40%, so it was either or.

If you preorder an item with the ship to store option, will it be in the store to pick up on the release date? Thanks.

Zbu 09-20-08 01:44 PM

I got Eraserhead 2000 for $38 shipped. That whole giant box set!

leeta 09-20-08 04:42 PM

Don't know how many fans of Friday the 13th: The Series there are here. Season 1 is FINALLY being released on 9/23. With this coupon, it's $28.79 plus tax (free shipping). I think that's the cheapest I've seen it online anywhere.

To take the plunge or not??? I've bought too many DVDs lately and the big sales haven't even gotten here yet!!!

bearkiss 09-20-08 04:45 PM

unfortunately, if you do an order for in store pick up, the item has to ship to them just as if you had it ordered & shipped to your own house... even if they have it in stock, you can't just go get the one they have... this is where they differ greatly from best buy in store pick up!

Disney Lover 09-20-08 07:05 PM

Would this coupon work on complete series sets? And a preorder at that? I'm hoping to be able to preorder The Flintstones series set, with the 40% off it would only be $78 before taxes.

When you finish adding all your stores, just go back to the regular product page and hit refresh. It should now show the item availability on the right side of the page.

Got the MST3K 20th Anniversary set for $33.00 with $5.00 rewards credit.
