Thanks for the heads up. Picked up the Oceans Trilogy and Assasination of Jesse James (on backorder- but hopefully they will get it back in stock)

Same here.

Took a shot at Sopranos Season 6 part 2 for 28.99, but it was listed as out of stock.

Bob_F1 08-15-08 06:11 PM

My two orders from yesterday show a status of "Open" on the order status page.

Based on the following description from Deep Discount's site, "Open" indicates that the order is ready to ship. (Hopefully that's actually the case.)

ORDER STATUS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is possible to check the status of your order by logging into "Your Account" on your store.

Please note that "Open" indicates that your order is waiting to ship.

Same here, but I actually haven't ordered HD DVDs for a while. HAD to pick up the Ocean's trilogy. At that price, it's a no-brainy. Finally completed my HD DVD Kubrick collection, and ordered the back-ordered Jesse James title.

DVDGamer 08-15-08 06:37 PM

Kiss Kiss, Ultimate Matrix. Its hard to go Blu with great HD DVD prices. Even though I grabbed a PS3, I don't think I'll be getting any Blus unless I get it for these prices. So the holiday season will be a quiet one for me, I guess.

darkside 08-15-08 07:57 PM

I also picked up Smallville Season 6 and Nip Tuck Season 4. 28.99 each and both show open on my order.

GreenMonkey 08-15-08 08:00 PM

Thanks. Signed up for the live.com thing and picked up 2001 & FMJ: Remaster.

Keep in mind the Ultimate Matrix set is Combo disc...for those that despise them.

Are you sure about that?

I have the Complete Matrix Collection and they are not combos.

steelpotato 08-15-08 08:16 PM

Most of the stuff I ordered was out of stock, but I'm confident I will get them all:
2001
Adventures of Robin Hood
A Christmas Story
Casablanca
Full Metal Jacket
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
T3
Wild Bunch
Willy Wonka
Dazed & Confused (been wanting to get this for quite a while)
:)
Thanks OP!

Alan Smithee 08-15-08 08:29 PM

The "Ultimate" Matrix has some standard DVD sides for extras but does not repeat the movies in standard def. The "Complete" Matrix does not include any of the extras that are in standard DVD format- essentially it's a stripped-down version of the other set.

I'm glad I went for the "Complete" collection.

The "Complete" collection does have some of the featurettes, all of the theatrical trailers, and the commentaries on their respective discs. It does not have the Burly Man Chronicles, "Roots of the Matrix" docs or the animatrix episodes.

At this price I gotta get goodfellas. That old flipper has been well overdue for an upgrade.

DVD Polizei 08-15-08 10:35 PM

Definitely worth the upgrade. I have it and love it.

Bacon 08-16-08 07:34 AM

ordered about 15 titles only 4 are in stock

Cosmic Bus 08-16-08 09:55 AM

Makes me wish I'd waited to buy Forbidden Planet, Casablanca and the Cowboys; I paid about $13 more by getting them from Frys a couple of weeks ago. Oh well... I did pick up the Getaway, finishing up my HD collection. It's nice to know that I can stop looking for sales on this stuff now. :)

smashthesymbols 08-16-08 01:46 PM

I placed an order last night for Pan's Labyrinth and the Ocean's box set. Both were shown out of stock. Ocean's now says open, while Pan's says backorder. We'll see what happens I guess.

There's actually a bunch more titles on there I'd like to have. I still feel like these should get cheaper though, so I'm holding out for more price cuts.

starman9000 08-16-08 01:49 PM

Any recommendations on the National Geographic set?

gbeenie 08-16-08 04:59 PM

Thanks to the OP for the heads-up, but is anyone else besides me of the opinion that real "blow-out" pricing for titles in a DEAD format would be more along the lines of $4.99 apiece? My local Fry's has hundreds of HD-DVDs on display at the front of the store that they're trying to "blow out" for $12 (they've just marked a few selected titles down to $10). This display has been sitting there, virtually untouched, for at least six weeks now.

Pizza 08-16-08 05:03 PM

I ordered 6 titles last night and only Poseidon was listed as in stock. My email order confirmation came early this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see 4 titles listed as being in stock. Of course, the 2 listed as OOS are the ones I want the most. I'm not complaining as this is certainly cheaper than jumping in the car and driving to a Wal-Mart in Canada for their $5 specials.
(I also picked up a couple of HDs at Frys for a buck or two more when I was in Las Vegas a few weeks back. Cool store! Wish I had one close to home.)

SUPERMANROB 08-16-08 05:05 PM

Does anyone know if Pan's is the only movie with DTS-HD/MA audio?

I'm with you. That's why I didn't buy much yet. I still think the prices are going to come down even further. The format is dead, surely they can go cheaper than $9 each. I'll go crazy and buy stacks when we hit $5 or less each.

edstein 08-16-08 06:56 PM

www.inetvideo.com has many of these for $5.99. (new and used)

gbeenie 08-16-08 07:42 PM

Alas, the $5.99 pickin's are pretty slim over there these days.

Manzana 08-16-08 08:22 PM

I agree that Fry's prices on HD-DVDs aren't that great at $9.99. I bought several $5.99 ones from inetvideo a while back, and at DD's $8.99 price I convinced myself to buy a dozen. With only a few exceptions (Ocean's trilogy and The Searchers), my rule was at $8.99 I'll only buy HD-DVD I don't already own on SD DVD, so I passed on most of them (like Rio Bravo and all the Harry Potters). I accidentally ordered the Ultimate Matrix collection for $28.99 not realizing until today that the Animatrix is in SD and the extras are the same as the Ultimate Matrix SD collection I already have. I thought all 4 movies were HD and the extras were mostly new. I was in a hurry to order and hadn't read the reviews. The upcoming Blu-Ray Ultimate set sounds better once it gets cheaper in 1-2 years. I called DD to cancel the Ultimate Matrix today and was told all but 3 titles on my order had already shipped. Now I've got to decide if I should ship it back to DD or try to swap it on the HD-DVD exchange.

Probably nobody is going to want my unopened Ocean's and The Searchers SD DVDs. Though off topic, my SD DVD price limit is now $5, HD-DVD $8, and BR $15. If and when Fry's has the HD-DVDs for $5.99 or less, then I may consider rebuying ones I already own on SD. However, at that price they will be cleared out fast.
