Received the set today, November 24th, and it's HEAVY! Shipping box says 4 lbs. Although the Timelife web site states it was shipped by 2nd day UPS, it was actually shipped by FEDEX as stated in the previous email.

I haven't yet watched any episodes, just went through all the discs/cases to make sure everything was okay. Just two discs with noticible scratches, so I'm going to see if TIMELIFE will replace just those two.

The bonus disc comes in one of those stiff paper CD holders so I put it in a thinpak and managed to get everything into the box, although there is little breathing room.

A thoroughly impressive set from the packaging standpoint, especially those SteelBooks, hopefully the episodes and bonus content will be as such. You have got to give TimeLife credit for this set, I cannot imagine SONY ever doing anything like this on their own.

I'm off to catch some ghosts...

WHAT GIVES?!

Did anyone check their status on Timelife.com? I got an email today stating my order status "changed" so I assumed they shipped it.

I go to check my account, order history, and I see two.

The Real Ghostbusters 10-18-08 $157.99
The Real Ghostbusters 10-28-08 $179.99

I click on the first one, it says it was cancelled.

I click on the second, it says it was shipped. But apparently, I've been charged $180?!? I did call TimeLife last month to CONFIRM do NOT cancel my $157 order, but it appears they have?!

Did this happen to anyone else? If I call customer service, will they take care of this mishap?

I was charged shipping.

I thought all pre-orders were being upgraded to that free FedEx deal?!?!

What the hell!

It IS an awesome set...one of the best TV sets I've ever seen assembled on DVD in fact.

I've emailed CSR about the shipping, we'll see what happens, but as the set itself goes, WONDERFUL

I can only assume that they meant it was something like a "free shipping upgrade." So you still have to pay the original shipping price, but they sent it FedEx 2-day Air instead of ground or whatever it would've been.

Just got mine today, incredible set. Love that it comes in such a compact package. Will have to double check that I was only charged $157, but worth every penny.

Really stunned at how nice the embossed steelbooks look in person compared to the pictures I have seen on-line.

That may be what they meant but it's definitely not how it's described. Anyway the set is sweet, if I get the s/h refunded fine. If not, no biggie.

Ok, so i just ordered using the 15% ($5 shipping) code and my confirmation email says:

Merchandise Subtotal: $179.99
Order Discount: -$27.00
Shipping Charges: $5.00
Sales Tax: $7.90
Merchandise TOTAL: $185.37
First Installment: $51.15
ORDER TOTAL: $185.37

Is this what others have seen? I mean it says there is a $27 discount, they applied to my order on my order confirmation page, the bottom line price just doesn't seem to be reflected on the email.

EDIT: I called this morning and they confirmed that I will only be charged the discounted price.

Got my set, checked all the discs, and they are flawless. However, I really hate how the cases store the dvds. it's hard to get the dvd's out, and how one dvd overlaps the other can be a problem - you can't swap which is on top, which is on bottom.

My set came yesterday, looks real good. Not sure why I've been charged the full 180 though when I pre-ordered $157.99 and called in late October for them NOT to cancel my order.

Will have to give them a buzz after Thanksgiving. Haven't watched an ep yet but I love the set -- looks great!

Only one complaint so far... the book is black, which is easy to get fingerprint smudges on. Must be handled with great care or else it'll be easily blemished. I hate black covers like that. Yeah, it fits the show's theme, but handling it become a delicate hassle =p

Just watched the first episode Ghosts R Us... I expected better visual quality but I have to admit I guess I had lofty and unrealistic expectations for a cartoon over 20 years old. Still, He-Man looks good... but then, I guess The Real Ghostbusters always had that dim, gritty look eh?

As long as all the episodes run fine, I'm pleased. I had some trouble with some He-Man episodes that turned me off. Good thing I bought them all for $10 each back in September when Best Buy was doing the $10 deal. Very annoying to watch an episode and 15 minutes in it has some disc read error. Disc looks mint, too. Oh well.

Should we try to keep the reviews/fun chat about this in the DVD thread, not the bargains thread?

I wonder if the individual releases will contain the bonus disk as some point that includes the pilot episode.

I'm happy with getting the full set for $135.

Isn't that a big part of WHY TL does exclusive sets?
Why go and undermine themselves later?
Seems silly...

I received the set as a Christmas present (that I asked for) so I'm happy! Those cases are heavy - it's amazing even when you remove one, that the remaining cases shift so quickly the box could topple over! I've watched the first disc and so far so good - I didn't really expect a Looney Tunes-type cleanup on these, but they appear to have held up well. I am laughing at the 80s synth music in those first episodes - takes me back to the mid-eighties and college!

re: (DEAD) The Real Ghostbusters The Complete Collection (Shipdate 11/15/08) $150 or less

Looks like there's some problems with Vol 4 Disc 2:
