New code "friends" for 15% off plus $5.00 flat shipping on orders over $90.

That brings the set to $152.99 + $5.00 shipping.

The total for me was $157.99 with $43.25 for the installment payments.

I've got a question about the installment plan. If I do that, does that mean they will split the set up into different shipments? Or ship it all at once?

I think I might have to jump on that! Is this the best deal right now available?

So it'd be $43.25 today, then 21 days later? $86.5 for the month is not bad...

Oh Mr. Shackle I doubt they would ship the DVDs separately. That'd mean they'd have to open the box set and break it up. I doubt they would do that, but can I have someone confirm this who HAS paid installment plans before?

I didn't see at first, but the first installment is $43.25 and the last three are $38.25. So you pay the shipping on the first payment.

Definitely the NOW current best deal for this set. Just cancelled my original order. Ended up saving $4.24 off the current total (from my original order), NOT including 8% cashback from Fatwallet.com. $10 for tax is a pain in the butt, but at least Fatwallet will negate that amount.

I also found out that this coupon expires on October 18, 2008... So place your orders, and don't forget about using Fatwallet's cashback and save some more.

Thanks John for the info. But one quick Q: What is fatwallet's cashback and how do I implement it into the transaction? Is Fatwallet associated with Time Life (the website selling TRGB DVD set)?

One of many meta shopping sites where you earn cashback if you first go thru their page.

Today's apparently the last day the Friends offer is good, so I pulled the trigger. Not bad. 147 episodes plus commentaries and other bonuses for $158, plus 8% back?

That's less than a buck an ep, how can you pass that up?

BTW, did anyone get an email from Time Life where your email host said:

This message has been blocked for your safety. Open message
Thank you for ordering from Time Life‏
From: [email protected]
This message may be dangerous.

? Weird, I rarely get that warning. Why so with Time Life's email?

For the love of Slimer, they just sent me another postcard with the...

"Unfortunately, we are still out of stock for the items(s) you ordered, however, we expect to ship your selection in 30 days. If you can wait a bit longer to receive your order, please contact our Customer Service Center as shown. Federal regulations prohibit us from holding this order any longer without your consent. Therefore, unless we hear from you with 14 days, we will have to cancel your order and issue a refund.

We hope to hear from you soon.

*sigh* I received the same postcard in the mail today. I'm going to contact Time Life's customer service and tell them that I absolutely do not want to have my pre-order canceled. This thing is turning out to be a major pain with the constant postcards, but I'm certain that the reward will pay off next month.

I had thought I read somewhere that those postcards were a mistake and our orders were not going to be cancelled... that must have been a dream since they cancelled my order today.

Worked out for the best, though - they saved me the trouble of cancelling and creating a new order with the AFPUMPKIN coupon code. It's the same deal as the expired "FRIENDS" code (15% off and $5 flat rate shipping).

You're kidding? They're cancelling pre-orders now?

So is the AFPUMPKIN code going to be legit, or will I get an order cancelled for that too.

I e-mailed Time Life a few days ago regarding the postcard and here is the response I received:

Thank you for contacting Time Life.

I have noted on the account that you will be accepting this delay. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. This product is still set to ship on November 15, 2008

We appreciate your interest in Time Life, and the opportunity to be of assistance.

Sincerely,
Tara Lancaster
Customer Care

They didn't even acknowledge that it was an error on their part. What really baffles me is that the set was never delayed in the first place... Anyway, it would definitely be safe to send them an e-mail if you received the card if you want to keep your pre-order as the initial pressing will run in limited quantities.

that is absolutely beautiful!!!

I can't wait for this to ship out.

just an FYI for those that chose to pay in installments. I called them yesterday to inquire about when they will be charging and they said thay the first installment will be charged upon shipment of the set, and the other 3 payments will each be 21 days after each other. So I think it's cool that you'll be paying after you already have it and not leading up to the release. It'll give me some time to save up.

Oh nice, not this month then. Sweet. I try to limit my CC spending to 250-ish a month, so now I have a more clean slate to work with

They are definitely cancelling pre-orders if you don't contact them about the postcard. Had my order from August cancelled. Called and had to have them place a new order.

I can also verify this as I just logged on to my account and the order was cancelled in my order history. Said I did not accept delay notice. I got about 4 postcards but I think I would have remembered if action was needed in order to keep the order live. I'm emailing them to see if they can reinstate the order.
