I just sent in a large box of dvd's about two weeks ago seeing that they usually hold these trade-in specials about every six months, which meant that the next 20% extra trade-in time period was due late September/early October. So much for that theory.

I probably missed out on about $20 in credit

same here, would have made an extra $20, but I have more of my dvd's to sell, so I am going to make an extra $10 on these dvd's now.

Actually I think it's every four months. I started sending in boxes of DVDs back during their October promotion on 10/27. Four months later on 1/27 I sent in another box and another on 4/27. So the last week of July fits in their pattern of the sale.

Thanks for posting. Mailed out a sell order this morning, and earned an extra $10 with the code. Many titles ended up going to DVDplanet though. They were way paying better on many titles in store credit, but cash is always good to have though.

FYE always offers a bonus 25% onto Secondspin's prices. The only difference is that you can only get credit rather than Secondspin, which offers cash.

FYE offers cash also. Secondspin's values are about 99% accurate for FYE B&M cash value. It's worth it to save postage if you have an FYE around.

However, as noted above FYE offers 25% extra on top of the cash value in store credit. Plus if you hit their brown bag bonus, it's 20% on top of trade in value.

It turns out to be 50% more total in store credit at FYE.

I placed a selling order on Saturday, but two days later, still have not received an email confirmation for mailing to them. Usually they are mailed straightaway.

Anyone else have this problem? I emailed customer service to see what they have to say.

How many did you ship? I thought media mail is supposed to be the cheapest way.

Definately use media mail. It cost me $4.50 to ship around 25 movies to second spin last time. Heck, I had a quotemachine shipment to DVDplanet that had 80+ movies (~24 lbs) and that only cost me 9.95 using Media Mail.

You gotta specify that you want Media Mail, since alot of postal employees just default to Priority mail for large packages.

I always ship media mail, regardless of the size of the box.

Compare prices between Secondspin and DVD Planet. DVD Planet usually offers more for trade-ins, but sometimes they are not accepting that title for trade in, whereas Secondspin is accepting the same title. Also, I usually don't trade-in dvd's to Secondspin unless they are running their extra 20% promotion. FYE is not in my area, so I cannot comment on them.

Do these DVDs you trade-in need to be in tip-top shape?
I mean, my DVDs are in good condition, but there might be a few dings on the corners, some slight scratches, etc.

Same here...placed a selling order Saturday morning, and as of today it's still "in progress". Odd...

Ditto here. E-mail is usually pretty much instantaneous... but nothing for several days.

Wonder what's up?

I was just thinking about when this sale would happen again and then I see that I missed it. I should really check this forum more often! Oh well, I'll hold on to that stack of DVDs for a bit longer.

I sold some discs on 07/26 during this promotion and received an instant e-mail confirmation. Shipped on 07/28 using Media Mail. It was delivered on 08/05. Today I received a "reminder" from them that they haven't received it yet. Hopefully this isn't an indication of a problem since this is my first sale to them.

Placed my sell order on the 28th, received the confirmation email the next morning. Shipped my package out media mail w/del. confirmation on the 31st and they received it 8/4. On 8/7 I got an email letting me know everything was accepted and I should receive my Paypal payment within 3 business days. I got my Paypal payment the next day.

Anyone know when Wherehouse will be doing the same trade-in promotion?

They finally processed my order that they probably received last friday. One item was rejected because of 'damaged artwork'. Will they just send that back to me?

I've got a question for you-- I had my first sale to them recently. The post office says they got the boxes on the 9th. I have emailed them, but they've told me nothing, and they have yet to confirm receiving them. When you say they processed them a week later-- did they at least inform you it was received, or did you only get information from them once they were processed? I'm a bit worried as I sent quite a few DVDs, and they have yet to even acknowledge receiving the boxes, despite delivery confirmation stating they did. Being my first sale, I don't really know what to expect from them...
