With the trouble this store had had, and the way the economy has been, I'm a little anxious to get rid of those BB ASAP!
I emailed them and they told me that the item is backordered. I'm in the same situation as Buck, since I used a coupon and the Border Bucks. It will be the last time I order something from them.

I used a coupon, $5 in Borders Bucks and a gift card and it was still a better deal at Best Buy.

I had two horrible experience with Borders.com and I decided i would never buy from Borders again even with %40 off deals. I get better deals online or from BBy.`

They are saying on FW that we should use our gift cards now, because once Borders files for bankruptcy, they will become null and void. I've never heard of a store doing this before. Surely this can't be true?

Some in bankruptcy won't let you use it like Sharper Image. In others like Circuit city you could.

Yep, YMMV. Some give a grace period where gift cards are good for the first month or something of chapter 11.

Has Borders given up on online coupons? It seems that they are only releasing in-store only coupons lately. I could really use a borders.com coupon.

Your guess is as good as mine.

I think attempting to save at least some of the stores is priority one, but that may be a biased/selfish viewpoint.

Not to ask a dumb question, but do they include BluRay box sets in this kind of coupon, or is it strictly SD-DVD box sets only?

Could be YMMV, but there should be nothing to the contrary based on how they're coded.
You might run across an obnoxious manager or something, though. My store wouldn't think anything of it, though. OK, a cashier might ask to be sure, but it'd be ok'd.

Once again I got two different e-mails from borders, the first was 40% off list of one box set, the second was buy 2 box sets and get 40% off list for both. In case someone really wants the 2 box sets coupon, here it is:

Borders finally shipped my Sukiyako Western Django Blu-Ray, which I ordered 6 weeks ago. Man, they're slow. Got it for a bargain, though. $9.79 and I used rewards points.

Thanks for the box set coupon. I hope borders will be able to stick it out. Stock at .49 but has been lingering around this range for some time.

Technically, gift cards are classified as payables. These can be voided by a bankruptcy judge if he/she chooses. There is a little more sensitivity around these lately, as they directly impact individual consumers as opposed to suppliers, but as others have said, YMMV!

I was thinking the same thing. This could be a harbinger of the end of Borders.com. (IMHO, they never should have started back up.) Then again, maybe it's just paranoia, and we'll see them again soon.

I just got back from the Southbury, CT location(one of the few "concept" stores in the country). I noticed that they are selling some electronics, including the Sony 350 Blu-ray player. This is good news for me because I have just over $300 in gift cards. If it appears that Borders is getting ready to go Chapter 11(or even worse, Chapter 7), I can unload my gift cards in one quick swoop. I'm not sure if all locations are starting to sell electronics or if it's just the concept stores, but you might want to take a look the next time you're at the store.

Interesting. The store in Farmington just cleared out a big area which had been CD and DVD real estate. I wonder if they are going to do the same thing...

Yes, it's almost like someone was reading my note here... Just picked up the Man From Uncle DVD set tonight for $120... Nice that we don't have to pay sales tax here in Oregon either!...

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

Just to be safe, I dug out all my Borders gift cards and store credit, made a list of all the box sets I own, and went crazy with this coupon, buying 8 or so box sets so far.

I've been burned before being stuck with useless gift cards, so now I need to make a buying spree at FYE as well.

The last time I tried to use a boxset coupon in-store on a boxset, I ended up in an argument with the store manager because she insisted that it has to literally be discs in individual cases inside a box. She wouldn't let me use it on multiple-disc sets with other forms of packaging.

Last time I went to Borders, period, actually...

Now, if there was an online 40% coupon, I'd be ordering some remaining MST3K for the wife.

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly

I still have some gift cards left...I'm toying with getting Postwar Kurosawa and When We Left Earth, but I sort of want to try to wait til next week and raid their non-box set Criterions. Decisions, decisions.

I'm interested a lot of the Criterions that will be coming out in the next month or two, but I really don't think they're going to last that long. When I was in there the other day, I'm pretty sure I heard two employees talking about how they're going to be getting rid of 2/3rds of their DVD section. Gah.
