Does anyone know why Borders upped the minimum for FS to $40? It used to be $25 for standard Borders Rewards members like myself.

It's always free shipping if you send it to the store. That's what I always do...
I wonder what they will do if you pre-order a title with the site to store option and when it becomes available, that store is no longer open. |

Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly
I also have most of my Borders.com items sent to my local store, since it's not that far from my house, and I go there all the time.
First - I doubt all the closing stores will be shuttered right away, all at one time. I remember reading that they have had firm plans to close over 200 Borders Express and Waldenbooks stores in any event. So this just adds a few more. But stop and think - the items come from the same locale and are packaged the same, whether they are mailed to a store or to your home. I have always assumed that it costs Borders the same amount to mail the items to the store as it does to my home address. To me, the free ship-to-store option was, at least in part, a device to engender more floor traffic at their stores. So the answer is easy - they should just send any items intended for a closed store to your home address instead. (The only glitch might be if your billing address is different from your shipping address.) And I have about six back-ordered or pre-ordered items, so I, too, am interested in how they will resolve this. |

I have been trying to place an online order since last night, but I keep getting:
We're sorry, but due to technical difficulties we cannot place your order at this time. The contents of your shopping cart will be saved so that you may place your order at a later time. |

Try signing out and back in. If that doesn't work sign out, empty the browser cache, sign back in and try the order.
EDIT: Yep, my account is fucked up. I was able to check out as a guest without issue... |

I guess the original code is now dead? Coming up as expired, even though I used it earlier instore.

Given the financial state they're in, I'll just be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
I still can't believe they're pushing the whole 'Rewards Plus' nonsense still. Give it up. |

I wonder how many people, like me, are scurring to use all of their gift cards. That can not be helping their bottom line.
I will not be getting any more of those gift cards from Discover. It was so much better when Borders.com = Amazon.com :( |
Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly
Like I said, I can't envision Borders making to the end of the year as stores start to get shuttered left and right. Just way too expensive for their stuff and not enough quantity was ever in stock. Just my two cents.

Link to pdf of the list of stores closing is in second paragraph
http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...t.html?sid=101 "Clearance sales could begin as early as this weekend, according to documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. Borders said it is losing about $2 million a day at the stores it plans to close." |
Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly
Son of a bitch... ALL 3 of the Milwaukee area stores are on the list...
I was just in there the other day, making a purchase, and I said to the clerk "I know Borders is going to be closing some stores soon, and I hope this isn't one of them." She said "Don't worry, this store won't be closing. I just transferred to this store, and they assured me that it wouldn't close." Looks like they lied to their own employees... |
Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly
This store closing list is much easier to read, sorted by state:

The B&N stores near me must be doing the happy dance right now. Business will surely improve once Borders is gone... |
Re: The Official Borders Coupon Thread volume 2 - Updated Weekly
