Kubrick Collection at Costco for $34.99!
I posted this in the main Costco thread, but since many dvdtalkers don't check that thread regularly (myself included), I thought this deserves its own thread.
The Bend, Oregon, Costco has the recently released Kubrick Collection for only $34.99. As a comparison, during the recent DD 20% off sale, it could be bought for $47.19 after discount. |
Can anyone else confirm this at their local Costco? Thanks!
I'll try to look tomorrow.

They had it at the one on Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles at that price today.

corrected covers?

I rushed out the door the minute I read tofferman's post to the nearest Costco here in the SF Bay Area. I picked up Kubrick as well as the Charlie Chaplin Collection for $34.99. They also had an international films collection as well as controversial Hollywood collection for the same price. I just opened the Kubrick collection and I believe it is with the corrected covers. The Shining cover matches the same motif as the other films in the collection, black cover with the Redrum on the door, and all are in plastic covers as opposed to paper dvd cases. The film descriptions on the back of the collection cover corrected previous errors such as the incorrect description of Eyes Wide Shut having both the unrated and US theater version (it only has the unrated European version). I've been waiting for this one for a long time and think it was a great deal. The Chaplin collection Volume 1 (Modern Times, The Great Dictator, The Gold Rush and Limelight) was also a super price. Thanks for the heads up.

Picked it up at the Fremont costco today for $34.99. They only had a handful of them on the bottom shelf. Cant believe the price!
Was not at the Sacramento (Cal Expo) or the Citrus Heights (Auburn Blvd), but it was at the Stockton Blvd Costco. Thanks OP!
I picked up this today. I wasn't sure if it contained the 2-disc editions of 2001, ACO, TS and EWS, but was relieved to find out it did.
Is this the version with the corrected covers?
None found at Milford, CT.

So we can move on, YES it is the one with the corrected covers : )
What exactly was corrected with the covers? Do they come with the artwork that the single discs had?
The Shining just had the retail artwork instead of the "redrum door" as pictured on the back that goes with the other minimalistic covers.
I got this for like $27 with that crazy 1/2 off B&N coupon on its release week, well worth it. Never had seen EWS of 2001 and they're great! Still can't get through CO, though. |
So the "corrected covers" are still those boring ones that were originally in the set. Except The Shining is now a boring one too?
How many discs is this set? I kind of hate to buy this when we all know Bluray versions are coming.

Not available online (I don't have a Costco here), I would have gladly paid the extra fee for non-Costco members.

Nothing at the Costco in Dedham, MA.
Thanks for the heads up! I scored this set at a local Costco after reading this thread. What a deal! It's too bad that Warner Bros. didn't include Dr. Strangelove. I also agree with the people who said that the cover art is mediocre at best. Oh well, I'm still really happy with the set.
Went back to Dedham and got the set at $34.99. Excellent deal. Thanks to the poster!
