I recently bought Classical Baby: The Art Show. The cover on it reads that there's two more on dvd. Has anyone seen the HBO DVDs of Classical Baby: The Dance Show and Classical Baby: The Music Show on dvd at Big Lots?

I have seen the Classical Baby dance and music DVDs occasionally in the past, but never together. In other words whenever there is a Classical Baby DVD, it has generally been by itself. I purchased all three of them long ago as a set and they are fabulous. Happy Hunting.

Has anybody seen Guys and Dolls in the Montgomery Village MD BL? I am DYING for this DVD.

My store has yielded me quite a few treasures including:
Being Julia
My Big Fat Greek Life
Moonstruck
Some Like it Hot
Postcards From The Edge
The Apartment
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Punchline
Mazes and Monsters (which is an unintentional laugh riot)
Far From Heaven
The End of The Affair
Suspect
Running Mates
Surrender Dorothy
Capote/In Cold Blood
The Cheap Detective
Legally Blonde 2
The Comeback (Complete Series)
Everybody Loves Raymond (First and Final episode)
Roseanne Barr Blonde and Bitching
Caroline Rhea (can't remember the title)
All Aboard Rosie's Gay Cruise or whatever the title was.
Mrs. Winterbourne
Sweet and Low Down

(And more I can't remember at the moment)

I really want to get the aforementioned Guys and Dolls and Angels in America. My question is why are these studios geting rid of these movies? I don't get it although I LOVE collecting these titles. It is like crack for me.

Also, what is a "flipper"?

A flipper is a disc with data on both sides. Often, one side will contain a fullscreen version and the other will have the widescreen version. Some longer films are split across two sides, rather than containing multiple discs.

What happened with many Sony titles is that they eliminated the widscreen side and failed to modify the packaging to reflect this change. The package will still say that the film is in both WS and FS, but only have a single-sided FS disc.

I stopped at a Big Lots and was thrilled to find copies of The Misfits and Adaptation. The discs were, of course, both rattling around in their boxes and were the only copies to be found. Blegh.

I prefer the old definition of a flipper - where the movie was split in half with half on one side and half on the other. Or at least where the bonus content occupies both sides of a disc.

Discs with a FS version on 1 side and a WS on the other are just dual-sided. Most people would never flip them.

If anyone finds the HBO DVDs of Classical Baby: The Dance Show, The Music Show and/or The Poetry Show, I'll buy or trade you.

My trade list:
Sweet and Lowdown WS/FS flipper
Mortal Thoughts WS/FS flipper
Truth or Consequences WS/FS flipper
Roxanne WS/FS flipper
Memento 2-disc
Ali Director's Cut

Thanks for the explanations, flicker. I found Adaptation yesterday and cannot wait to pop it in. I love Meryl Streep. I hope I find The Misfits too, it is such a piece of Hollywood legend. Does it come with extras?

Picked up today..

Postcards From The Edge
The Rat Pack
Scoop
Gattaca SE
The Missing (Extended Cut)

Anyone confirm who has bought Postcards From The Edge from Big Lots that the disc is a flipper with WS/FS on each side and not just fullscreen? I was afraid to pick up this title because i didn't want it to end up being like the Mixed Nuts DVD where it turned out being a fullscreen disc inside the case but the packaging said it had both wide and full. Thanks!

Actually, I think the season 1 discs of "Flipper" ARE flippers! Haven't seen those at Big Lots though.

I haven't heard of Postcards From The Edge getting a side dropped, but since I'm not in the retail biz anymore it's harder to find these things out. I noticed elsewhere that "Five Easy Pieces" had its foolscreen side dropped.

My point of humor was more directed at the film and not the series, but thanks.

And no disrespect intended theflicker as I'm sure you know.

And thanks for laughing Anna Karenina, AND welcome aboard.

Capturing the Friedmans is a good bargain for $3. I assume it's the 2-disc?

Friedmans is the 2-disc, yes.

I found some earlier volumes of Full Metal Alchemist today, I think 3,4 and 6. If anyone ever finds vol.9 or 10 please let me know or just don't forget to post it!

Also found more anime today:
Full Metal Panic TSR 02 (vol 01 was around 2 months ago, so hope to find 03 and 04 in the future)
Tony Hawk in Boom Boom Sabotage (figured I'd get this for my nephew for xmas)
Beck vol.1

someone at big lots needs to monitor which shipments go out to which stores and rotate them. alot of the big lots stores I have gone to have told me that there dvd sales have slowed down alot, because they keep sending the same stores multiple shipments of the same exact titles. alot of the stores have told me they have more dvds in thier back store room and wont put them out until they sell more of what is already out on the sales floor.

UGH, Woody may be a creep in real life but I love his work!

jimmaxmed thanks for the welcome.

Picked up Who's The Boss and have been enjoying little Danny Pintauro and Alyssa Milano before she became annoying. The show is a cute little 80's time piece and so unabashedly sitcomy...enjoy it more now than when it was first on, God help me.

I picked up Fun With Dick and Jane, the documentary about the Douglas Dynasty (Kirk and Michael) and Bugsy. All were buried under a pile of stuff I could care less about.

This thread is so addictive I just spent an hour and a half going through all your posts. Why can't the Woody Allen collection end up in my MD store? I lurve his work (Annie Hall reference) and don't understand why all the stores are not able to get it.

I passed on "Action" and am going back today to get it because I have heard some good things here. Jay Mohr gets on my last nerves but at $3 I will give him another chance. Still looking for more Meryl Streep movies, I got Post Cards, A Cry in The Dark but really want The French Lieutenants Woman (never seen it before). Of course I want Angels in America too.

I have gotten some good titles at Ross too. My Fair Lady, deluxe edition for $5 and Private Benjamin/Protocol for $6. Still want Guys and Dolls badly, (I played General Cartwright and have nostalgic memories).

I am so glad I found this thread. I thought I was the only one slightly obsessed with the close out inventory. I am glad I have found fellow addicts.

The Perez Family
Cherry 2000
