Modesto, CA

Visited the BL by my house today. Seems they did get an influx of the HBO titles, but they were stocked into the Columbia/Tri-Star stacks so one had to dig through the haystack all over again.

But I lucked out, and found a title I really wanted to acquire:
American Splendor
I think I got the only one in the store. Also picked up:
Lucky Louie
Gus Van Sant's Last Days
Another You

Oh yes, also found two more Sweet and Lowdown flippers
Still hoping I'll find Hysterical Blindness

Picked up Night Skies and Steamboy. I really wanted The Comeback though. Maybe another time. Anyway, thanks OP. Great list!

Alphabetical but not arranged by studio, but here's a list of all the titles I've picked up at Big Lots:

^Probably because all the copies are crappy FS, that's all I've seen. Was this once available in a WS or flipper WS/FS version like many of the other Sony titles? Has anyone seen the correct OAR at Big Lots?

no not the crappy FS ones at all--I know what you mean I saw those at the 5.00 bin at Walmart. No this was the Superbit WS release. However I did get the last one in that store

Mortal Thoughts originally had both WS and FS, but became another casualty of Sony's stupidity. I hope the person whose idea it was to do that is now homeless and having to eat poisoned rats.

There's a bunch of "Empire Falls" at the Big Lots in Sacramento on Stockton Blvd next to the lost-in-time K-Mart (though they've finally updated the sign on it.)

Went to the Springfield NJ Big Lots the other day and found:

The Comeback (Lisa Kudrow HBO series) $3.00
Vertical Limit (Superbit) $3.00

Doe anyone know of any Big Lots in the New York/NJ area that still have "Angels In America"?

I pick-up Gattaca and Johnny Mnemonic (superbits) today.
I have never seen Gattaca is it any good?
I love Uma and I always thought Ethan Hawke as very underrated actor (What's is his best flim?).

Just happened to look up reviews for K Street and apparently it is non-anamorphic ~1.78:1 rather than the stated 4:3.

I personally like Gattaca. I has a great cast, a good story, and a decent ending. I own the superbit version of it already, but haven't watched it lately so can't state as to the quality of the transfer. But for $3, you'll get your money's worth for sure...
As for Ethan's best film, I'd have to say Training Day. Awesome movie, and he was excellent in it... But yes, I agree that he is underrated...

I've worked back some more through the old Big Lots thread and have added a good many titles to the Master List (especially MGM titles).

I've also rearranged the list a little (studios are now in alphabetical order, studio names are in bold type).

Someone suggested adding anime titles at Big Lots to the list. Would it be best to do so here or start another thread for anime?

Good suggestion. Once I go back further through the old thread, I'll probably do this with the titles I add.

But right now, with just a few exceptions (mainly a couple of older Sony titles I haven't seen in a long time which you guys had asked me to add - A Man Called Sledge comes to mind), the titles in the current list have been reported as being seen at Big Lots within just the last two months (an amazing amount of DVDs!).

On that subject, all I'll say is that I think it's best to limit the list to widely seen and reported titles which people might have a reasonable expectation of finding.

I know that someone else also reported finding a used, resealed set of Heroes at Big Lots (for $4.00, I believe), and there have been other used titles reported as well, but I see no point in including previously viewed titles in the list.

Just wandered back to my Big Lots today and the top two tiers of the big Columbia/Tri-star display had been taken off and In Cold Blood had been hidden. Very happy, been looking for that one for some time.

Possible correction: The Bride is a WS-only title. (The Deep, which is not on the list, has flipper and FS versions. I've only seen the latter at BL.)

Two Big Lots stores put out fresh MGM displays today. I'm sure the previous thread lists most of the titles but I wrote down at least a hundred titles. I'll post the list once I'm done crying about the new dent in my wallet.

Of our 3 BL's, one gets their truck on Wednesday, earlier then the other 2. Went in their today. New titles were several sets of Tango label collections with 8 5-15 year old b-films on 2 dvd's for $5 per set, & a bunch of hispanic titles on Pegasus for $4.

IOW, dollar store junk.

Yeah, huge new MGM display at Big Lots today. A real cardboard display unit, like something you'd see in a regular retail store, 3 sides, about 6 feet tall. Many many new titles not seen before. About 3-4 of each title, I guess they had about 150 unique ones. I picked up about 40 myself!

Titles I can remember:
21 Hours At Munich
American Buffalo
Bad Influence
The Ballad Of Jack& Rose
Be Cool (WS)
Be Cool (FS)
Best Seller
Boxcar Bertha
Bowling For Columbine
The Brood
Bubba Ho-Tep (CE)
Casa de los Babys
City Of Ghosts
Code 46
Confessions Of An American Girl
CQ (SE)
Dangerous Game
Eat Drink Man Woman
The End Of Violence
Extremities
Flawless
Foxy Brown
The Great Train Robbery
Guys And Dolls (DE)
Hell In The Pacific
Hi, Mom!
The Holocroft Covenant
Mulholland Falls
Pieces Of April
Prizzi's Honor
Rocky Marciano
The Saddest Music In The World
S.F.W.
Shadows And Fog
Species III
State Of Grace
Swamp Thing
They Call Me Mister Tibbs!
Too Late The Hero
Unspeakable
The Wilby Conspiracy
Y Tu Mama Tambien (I think it was the R-rated version)

A Shot In The Dark
Curse Of The Pink Panther
The Pink Panther Strikes Again
Revenge Of The Pink Panther
Son Of The Pink Panther
The Trail Of The Pink Panther
