My thanks to LaserMovies for this thread and all the work he's put into it over literally over the years. I've said it before, I don't know another thread anywhere on the internet that has been more stable, up to date, and always useful.


Guys, I appreciate the thanks and I'm glad everyone got something good or even just a little cheaper than you would have. I promised a small sermon and request after the Criterion sale ended, so here it is and there is nothing remotely mandatory about this except something to think about.

Over the years I've been doing this in various ways people have offered me GC, Amazon credits, UV and DMR points, etc and I've turned them down on principle. Within their rules and guidelines, I've more or less abused the B&N email registration system to sign up for emails and codes so as penace I've been more than happy to give away my extras. It didn't and doesn't cost me anything other than time, B&N sends them for free, and it made no sense to mess with karma by profiting on such things. If I prevent a few SD and Ebay profiteers from selling theirs so much the better.

Bluray and Movies are a luxury item for most of us and most of us would live just fine without them though a little less entertained at times.

The only thing other than family with 2 healthy children that I've been in involved with over the last 35+ years is Childrens Causes and especially sick childrens issues. St Judes Cancer Institite and Childrens Miracle Network among various Childrens Hospitals are my causes and will continue to be.

Since many of you guys are still really young and may not be to this stage of life yet I will ask any of you guys/girls to consider donating something to one of these or the many similar organizations as you look at your Criterions, Blurays, Home theaters,and PS4/Xbox games. Donate your old childrens movies and working players or games instead of selling them on Ebay, better yet donate your time to the local Childrens Hospital, go and read a book or just hang out with some of these kids, make a donation of funds or services or time. Hopefully most of us will never need such services for our own kids or grandkids, or relatives or neighbors, but it;s nice to know they're here for people who need them.

While it is quiet, I figured now is a good time to ask.

Why are the 15% and 20% coupons so desired? BN's prices are close to or at MSRP, so there is not a lot of savings there. BN stores are in most states, so sales tax is usually added in on top. I can understand the potential for bargains during a Criterion sale, for example, but otherwise I am baffled. Would someone mind explaining it to me? Thank you.

I haven't seen or heard of any for this week or next, but I think a set for next weekend would be pretty likely.

I still looking for the next set of new member coupons. I've found something which might be them, but they look different than the previous releases from the last 5 years so I'm not sure they're real or mockups for now. The online part seems to be working like usual except for the 8off40 which I still can't get to work on anything just like the set that expired yesterday (I thought they were good for another week).

The new site is much harder for me to search than the old one so unless LaserMovies has something I'm a little in the dark.

For those who need the online versions of the New Member codes -- the restrictions seem to be the same as the old codes.

Obviously no coupons for this week, but I think I see an incomplete coupon that may be in the works for next weekend. I'm also seeing what looks like a 15% coupon for 9/17-9/20 so back to every other week if the Labor Day coupon is what it appears to be.
I haven;t seen anything about a LD sale though there is usually something. The B1g1 British Literary sale is extremely limited and only about 40DVDs though I think it runs through early October.

B&N B&M stores are running a 50% off MSRP on Classic fare. While B&N's MSRP is always skyhigh, some titles fare well after the 50% discount (membership discount of 10% on top of that is icing on the cake). Today I picked up:

Unfortunately all the OP new members coupons expired

There appears to be a new set of online codes corresponding to the usual suspect which I listed a few items up though I don't thing the online 8/40 was working when I checked.

I think I found the in-store equivalents, but I'm not sure if these are the right ones -- instead of the prior 6 number codes that they've been for 7-8 years, they now how the 7 digit alphanumerics that look like the online codes.

Here they are, but I wouldn't necessarily want to be the first in line to try them in store. Maybe they'll be fine and work like they always have, maybe they'll work differently (maybe just once per account). Anybody that uses them please report back. I did try the store codes online and they didn;t work so they are separate offers

Although... they've changed the fine print. It used to say that the Barnes and Noble price to consider for the discount was prior to any other discounts, etc which is why so many of us were able to use it on the Criterion sale. Now it says the "bn.com price" is before taxes and shipping. Unless this is just a bn.com coupon (and not valid in the store to begin with). It does seem to suggest that as I read further.
