Actually they usually go as much as 1 to 2 hours late. In fact I remember the last time they did this sale in November the sale codes worked for almost a full day longer.

Seriously, living on Peanut Butter Sandwiches for a couple weeks after the sale is part of the fun. If you didn't break the bank then you haven't really experienced the DD sale.

I pay off my credit card each month, so I'm not collecting interest. In other words, I'm nowhere near the point of running my resources so dry that I'm spending money I don't have. (I did do that while in college and now, between my wife and me, I have a 30,000 dollar college debt. Had I ate mac and cheese and not bought any frivolous things for six years I probably could have paid for my college as I went. Oh well.)

But, seriously, I'm not wealthy by American standards but I still spend so much money on Dvds, many of which I have never watched and may never watch. When people ask me about it and how much it cost, I tell them I use the money I save from not having a cell phone and not paying for cable tv, and that it is my hobby.

Not broke, but my budget did suffer. but its fine, I live at home during the summer. Nothing much to do anyway...my parents will always have food.

Gas killed my budget more than the dvds did.

I was originally planning to try to stay within a budget of $250, which would be less than I've spent for the last several sales but still seemed like a generous amount.

Before the sale even started though, I was already $50 over on intended purchases. Since those are things I've already bought in my mind, the real fun of these sales for me becomes impulse purchases- getting ideas from reading a review here, or seeing someone else's list there, or watching something during the sale and then getting a sudden craving to own more work from the same actor or director,etc..

I ended up going about $550 over that original budget-all impulse stuff. Folding in all my DVD purchases since May (when DD had the MGM/Fox sale) including some UK Bds I just ordered, the tab came to about $900, which I admit is excessive.

Towards that though, I made about $330 on used DVDs on ebay . I also made an advance payment of about $600 on my CC which wiped my previous (transfered) balance off and locked me into 0% interest until next September.

That last point was the real reason I felt I had license to go as nutty as I did. I don't mind economizing in other areas, and I don't drink, smoke, go clubbing, use cable, get take-out, etc. I don't even feel a pull to go out to the movies anymore. I should be able to pay this off leisurely over the next 5 months, before the next sale starts.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

made my order - some are in stock, some are backordered - anyone know how ddd.com handles this?

do they wait until they have them all and then ship at once or do they ship the ones they have now and then ship the others as they get them in stock?

Titles are shipped as soon as DD has them available-no waiting for full orders to be complete. They are also charged when the item(s) actually ship, not when the order is placed.

how long does it take for them to arrive? I made three purchases from them, the first being Thursday the 19th, and while I got an email on the 20th that my stuff (minus the backordered titles) were sent off, I've yet to receive anything from them.

It usually takes about two weeks for me. Some people have been reporting that they've gotten things earlier lately though, I think.

I ordered on June 21 and I haven't gotten an email stating that they shipped my order. Is this normal? Or should I call?

Bastards!!! I ordered this last sale and they canceled it on me, saying that the manufacturer had made it go OOP and they didn't have any more copies. Wow, this is so freaking bogus.

The in-stock titles came yesterday. A mere 5 days after placing my order. Excellent turn-around for me. Now I await "Loathing," which should be here soon as well.

You should be able to tell if you look in the shopping cart, after adding the item in it. It appears to be out of stock again.

Right, it's out of stock, but they have it and are carrying it. The CSR told me during last sale that they wouldn't get anymore of it and had to cancel my order , again, stating that the manufacture had stopped making them. Basically what she told me was a bunch of BS. They got more in, and do carry it. It's like what's going to happen with that Rohmer set. To all those that want the Rohmer set, I'd be ready to phone DD and complain about what happened to it.
