I just called Rightstuf.com and was told that the GotAnime discount won't apply to the $5/$10/$15 sale?

Is that true?

I was thinking of purchasing the membership and using it for this order, but if it won't work, I won't bother.

Any info would be great! Thanks!

What's odd is that I don't see a disclaimer on that, but in my order it has the little * by every item with the note at the bottom:

* indicates items that are excluded from further discounts.

These kinds of sales (the heavy clearanced sales, as opposed to the other studio sales with a certain percentage off) have always excluded the GA discount anyway.

I picked up Gun X Sword (but missed out on the box), Tenchi Muyo OAV (which I haven't watched since the VHS days, might finally pick up the continuation from Funimation too) and Texhonlyze. Was also thinking about Gatekeepers, but there are just soo many disks, and Dokkoida, though it looks like v. 2 is gone.

edit:
Ok, I'm weak. Also picked up Adventures of the Mini Goddesses, Gatekeepers, Haibane Renmei, and Magical Project S. Vandread would be tempting me more if it wasn't non anamorphic widescreen. My lone Battle Atheletes V v. 1 is also taunting me...

No, it won't work. Anything marked with "Not Eligible For Additional Discounts" doesn't work with the GotAnime discount. Usually it's stuff like Bargin bin items and Weekly Special deals. There are times when a sale first goes live or something JUST goes into the Weekly Specials list and before it gets tagged "Not Eligible For Additional Discounts" when it will work, but it's not supposed to.

Thanks fujishig & tito425!

I also found it listed on this site for anyone else wondering about this:

http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6...em/28423/4/0/0

*Note: Discount applies only to our everyday low price and excludes specially imported items, gift certificates, and magazine subscriptions. Pre-packs, Closeouts, Website Specials or Bargain Bin ($5-6) products which are already heavily discounted cannot be further discounted using your membership (check for "Not Eligible For Additional Discounts" right above the purchase button on our web site). If in doubt, you may call our friendly customer service at 1-800-338-6827.

I just picked up the following:

Lupin the Third: Secret of Mamo $10
Lupin TV 1, 2, 11 $10 each
Lupin TV 7 (w/Choro Q car), 8 (w/Choro Q car), 9 (w/Choro Q car) $5 each.

I hope I got the Choro Q ones because the stock was down to 2.. 1.. then out of stock right after I clicked "submit". *prays*

Now I gotta go get the rest of the series later. Totally was not expecting this at all! This is such a bad week for my wallet, since I was going to go buy at DeepDiscount.com too.

Still thanks for the sales posting!

I believe once you put it in your cart, it saves stock for you and it's reflected on the page, so you should be fine. This is also why things can go back in stock as people's carts expire or they move on.

I have just gotten interested in anime and am looking for something with action and/or suspense (for this purchase).

I am planning on getting one of the following as a blind buy:
Lupin (TV)
Samurai Champloo
Read or Die

Can you recommend a title from these 3 or any other in the current rightstuf sale?
Thanks

If you want to check out Lupin, you can search for it on Youtube.com and see a sample episode. Also they have Secret of Mamo on youtube too. I personally loved Castle of Cagliostro, which is why I got into Lupin. Hope you enjoy it too!

Out of those three, I think that Champloo is the most accessible. You should also seriously consider Gungrave, Heat Guy J and Last Exile.

Heat Guy J and Last Exile are two of my all time favorites. Gungrave is OK as well.

Heat Guy J involves a laid-back cop and an android that do their best to protect a city full of corruption. Love the character designs, as well as the unexpected twists that make up this series.

Last Exile aired on G4 Tech TV several years ago. (In the midst of war, one young talented pilot and his female friend run a special service. The more dangerous the job, the more the pay. One particular job turned out to be much more dangerous than they ever expected.) The series has amazing special effects, an excellent soundtrack, and exciting in flight races. You'll like it.

Sweet Baby James is right, those are choices I wouldn't pass up.

Samurai Champloo and Read or Die are two of my most cherished anime collections. (Though I have only seen the first volume of Read or Die).

I have seen Samurai Champloo in its entirety and absolutely loved it. The animation plus character design, and story line are all top notch. From what I have read, Champloo fans are essentially broken up into two. Those who didn't enjoy it were primarily due to the fact that Champloo meshes hip-hop elements and samurai together. However, hip-hop wasn't as prevalent as its made out to be. I see it as an added benefit that works well.

Champloo is actually one anime series that I would consider having high replay value, which many available anime clearly lacks.

Unfortunately, missed out the Texhnolyze and Requiem from the Darkness boxes as well as a couple volumes of Fafner. I missed out on Fafner during the last Geneon sales and as this may be the last one, I figured it was worth the risk. Mermaid Forest and Melody of Oblivion have also been on my radar for a while and look mildly intriguing. Any recommendations for either? Reviews seem to be fairly mixed for both series.

I wouldn't really classify Lupin as an "action/suspense" series; it's just a lot of fun. Gungrave, Last Exile and Samurai Champloo would be the top tier action shows that I would recommend from Geneon's catalog. Read or Die has some fantastic animation but the story didn't do much for me. Gankutsuou is also one of Geneon's best titles, IMO. There is not a lot of action however.

I wish I hadn't missed out on Champloo Vol. 7. I don't really feel like ordering the gaps if I'm still going to be missing a volume.

I purchased Gankutsuou (I just love the Count of Monte Cristo and this seemed like an interesting adaptation of the story). Disc 3 was out of stock though

Last Exile is also one of my all time favorites (actually second only to Vision of Escaflowne). I love the series, it has everything (action, excellent story, great characters, awesome setting, even humor at times, etc.) and executes them flawlessly IMO.

I'd also personally recommend Hellsing, Petite Cossette, Samurai Champloo, and Soultaker. I've seen all of those and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Its been a while since I watched Mermaid Forest I went back to a post I made from another forum after I watched it.

The Mermaid Forest TV series is just awesome from start to finish.

I found this series just as good as the other short series from Rumiko Takahashi "Rumiko Takahashi's Anthology".

Mermaid Forest is a well rounded mesh of the Horror , Supernatural , and Drama genre the only complaint I think anyone can have about it is the series is actually to short.

The characters really draw you in and the episodes that show some of Yuta's past are really great episodes.
The dub was a decent average New Generation dub.

Really can't think of much to say with the show being only being 13 episodes other than its worth a buy to almost anyone as it seems to have a universal appeal about it.
For $20.00 to $25.00 depending on if the artbox is still available I don't think you could go wrong with it.
I got it during the first Geneon Abundance sale and I would have paid full price for it in a heartbeat after I saw it.

Sorry about the long post.

Not sure what Cybuster is like....read the review, which wasn't that great, but it's got giant mecha so it can't be all that bad.

I was going to ask you how Cybuster was, but I guess you haven't seen it yet... reviews have been terrible (which is why I've always passed it up on past Geneon blowout sales), but I'm a big Super Robot Wars fan...

Some Geneon products do not specify whether they're in stock or not, however they have a running counter. What exactly does that mean?
