They also had the $99 HBO sets for $30 off. So you can pricematch the 'Six-Feet Under' Target deal ($69.99) or grab 'The Wire' for $69.99. I think 'Get Smart' was another one. Can't remember the rest. Seemed like a decent deal for that stuff.
'Sex & The City' was another one (lowest price I ever saw for it).

Do you happen to remember if the Sarah Connor was a black or silver color?

Poor choice of words on my part. Rather, the Costco price is exactly the same as the Target price right now. Costco did not pricematch, they just happened to have the same exact price for that set.

Exactly how are these HBO sets $30 off? I only see $15 off Blu-Ray sets. Is $30 off unadvertised for regular DVD?

My local Costco had a sign that said "Instant rebate of $30 off $99 HBO Box sets". And the sign was just above some HBO box sets. So I figure they take it off automatically at the register just like the Disney DVDs.

All those instant coupon sales are listed in their current magazine and online but not the $30 off. A product # from the sign would be very helpful if possible. I can't get out to a Costco for a few days due to the snow.

I'd love to get The Wire for $70. if I can.

Picked up Die Hard. There wasn't a sign posted, but the register took off the $15 automatically.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with my other copy of Die Hard. I didn't realize all of the discs were in one BD case.

The $70 complete HBO shows are
The Wire
Sex and the City
Six Feet Under (slim box)
Get Smart
Deadwood

$30 comes off automatically at checkout. Tax on the $100 pre discount price except in CT.

Found the TCM Forbidden Hollywood v.2 and TCM Forbidden Hollywood v.3 (Wellman) sets at Costco for $19.99 each. No sign of v.1. Costco item number is 469784, if that helps.

Jay

I saw a whole pile of "Matt Helm Lounge," the trilogy of Dean Martin spy movies, for $11.99. A good price, if you like Dino in his campy, 60's role.

Quadrilogy, actually. Makes it an even better deal.

In case anyone is wondering upon seeing the set as two slim-line cases, rest assured each movie is on a separate disc and not double-sided discs.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

Saw Saturday Night Live Season 1-4 box sets at my Costco (Lancaster, PA) yesterday for $18.99 apiece. Interestingly, only Season 4 came in the "limited" packaging, which is blue in color and sort of shaped like a textbook, complete with easily bent corners; seasons 1-3 were the ordinary boxes.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what the textbook-shaped editions are supposed to be referred to as, but I would hardly call them limited editions! When they're first released they are released in the textbook-like boxes and eventually they are repackaged to the smaller-sized box (like those you saw seasons 1 - 3) in. My guess is Universal calls them "Limited Edition" so people buy it before the price goes down (which is usually when they get repackaged). Interesting. It's a good deal though, I might have to get 3 and 4.

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

^ i believe universal intended on including "collectors" items for each of the original pressings for each season set. iirc, seasons 1 & 2 had a "scrapbook" and season 3 had lobby cards. unfortunately, i think season 4 had nothing but the limited edition sized box itself.

I think the price is $18.89. THOSE TEN CENTS MATTER, BUDDY!!!!

Odd: At my Costco (Madison Heights, MI), Season 3 was the book-packaged one, while the others were plain boxes. (It may've been S2, but it was just one of the four.)

Re: General Costco DVD Thread

I picked up THE MARX BROTHERS COLLECTION today for $15.99. I've never been real fond of their MGM work, Thalberg and the code watered them down way too much, but for $17 and change it seemed worth it. Even bad Marx Brothers is better than no Marx Brothers. Although I'm hoping the entire "Tenement Symphony" in THE BIG STORE is a chapter so I can easily skip it.

While I agree many of their later films such as a Night in Casablanca , the Big Store. and Go West are pretty bad, A Night At the Opera is better than anything they did at Paramount and A Day At The Races is almost as good.
Room Service and At The Circus are watchable. Sadly the quality of the Marx Bros films reached a peak with their first MGM film and went down from there, probably because Thalberg was only alive during when A Night At The Opera was made. He died before A Day At the Races finished production.
