Sweet Baby James 05-24-08 06:02 PM

Hopefully the Rockford Files will be part of the Universal sale. I still need to pick up Season 5.

Pictured are The Office Season 3, House Season 3, Heroes Season 1, Monk Season 5, and 30 Rock Season 1.

No item limit per coupon

It does state that selection varies by location and that additional titles are available on the three item numbers.

This is only good July 28th through August 3rd.

I want to get the X-Files set, Ford at Fox set and the 007 set. Off to find $360 + tax.....:)

Oops! I didn't notice the valid dates....

[QUOTE=AmonTwin]I just received some Costco coupons in the mail today....

Valid June 2 - June 8

X-Files Complete Series Set and/or

I was wondering if someone who is an honorable trader here would consider picking one of these up for me? The closest Costco is over 100 miles away from me and I am not a member. I would Paypal the money to you and throw in an extra $20 for you time, trouble, gas, ect...

Shoot me an email. I go to Costco all the time and could grab you a copy if needed and they have it at my Costco.

That's what I can remember

I was hoping for the Marx Bros set, but didn't see it anywhere. I've seen theJohn Ford set at Sam's Club at least.

If you don't care about owning the box and Casino Royale, you can get the 4 Ultimate Editions for $24.99 each from Amazon. You're basically paying $20 for the box and Casino Royale, which may or may not be worth it to you. Earlier this year I got all 4 Ultimate Editions for under $100 total via the $25 Deep Discount sale price combined with a few Google Checkout $10 off coupons buy getting the DD sale prices through Buy.com (unfortunately I hesitated on the last set and the price had gone up by then, so I got it from Amazon for $35.. I didn't know it would be $25 later on). If I'm not mistaken, I got three sets for $25, one set for $35, and two $10 off coupons which would make the total $90.

But if you're set on the complete box set, that's probably the best you'll be able to do for the near future. I haven't been watching the price on that one - because I don't want Casino Royale (I'm waiting for the 3-disc Casino Royale due sometime this year before I buy the 21st Bond film on DVD) - but I doubt it's ever been much cheaper than $120.

I'm tempted to get the X-Files set myself, because I've really enjoyed the few episodes I've seen. To anyone who has the show on DVD, how is its replayability? I try not to pick up shows that I won't enjoy watching multiple times.

YMMV.

I find that the occasional odd episode, mainly the non-conspiracy humor episodes (Humbug, Small Potatoes, Bad Blood, etc.), are worth re-watching. The rest? Not so much.

It might help if I gave a little background on my TV-on-DVD viewing habits...

I've watched through the entire series of Star Trek: TNG and Star Trek: DS9 at least twice, and The Simpsons and Futurama 3 or 4 times (older seasons more than that) with no end in sight. In addition, I've watched through what's available so far for The Office and Battlestar Galactica (the current series) once and will probably watch through those series again multiple times. I think it's obvious that I like getting a lot of value from my TV-on-DVD purchases. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with the shows I've purchased on DVD, or maybe my standards are low when it comes to repeat viewings.

I don't know if that helps at all, since none of those shows are that similar to The X-Files.

What coupons did you receive? The Summer Passport? I haven't received any new coupons yet...

That $119.99 price is $40 less than Costco's last coupon sale on X-Files around Christmas time. I'll definitely have to buy it again and return it on the old receipt. :-)

That's what I got (Member Passport to Savings - Summer 2008), and the $120 price for the DVD sets is right on the 2nd page. What's interesting is that there is no item limit on that coupon.

Sweet! Hopefully my passport should arrive today or tomorrow... I swear my postman steals half my Costco coupons!

I actually got two copies of the coupon book, because my wife has a card too (strangely enough, my name is on both copies). You only need one copy of that coupon to buy as many of the DVD sets as you want, so I'm not sure why anyone would need two.

There are usually a mix of 'unlimited' and 'limit-one' coupons depending on the product. I've really only not received the books twice that I can think of. But, I'm thinkin this time may be another. If some of you got your books a week ago, and I still haven't received one, there's a good chance I'll have to ask for a replacement at the front desk.

I did get my Connection magazine yesterday.

for what it's worth, my coupon book just came yesterday. and incidentally, i got two, both addressed to me (probably because my wife also has a card).

My book came today... and I also received two copies. I'm a single member, so it sounds like perhaps there was a printing mistake with so many of us getting two.

Dude, you rule! I had no idea that Amazon had the 4 volumes for so cheap! I already have Casino Royale.

It was slightly cheaper when Barnes and Noble had a 50% off coupon. The problem now, however, is that Fox ended the offer for the free disc of the missing movie, Frontier Marshal.

They also go on sale from time to time at Amazon and Fry's.

I usually re-watch the whole series at least 1 time a year.

I am currently doing it now, for the movie coming out. I'm almost done with season 6.

How does the X-Files set compare to the original season releases? Are there any missing/additional extras?

I believe it contains everything from the originial non thin pack seasons sets plus the extras included in the mythology sets, plus the first movie.

I was in my local Costco today, and I didn't see the X-Files collection. In fact, of all the (soon to be) $120 box sets the only one I saw was the Ford at Fox one. I didn't scour the DVD section, but I don't see how large box sets like these ones could have been hiding in there.

I'll check the Costco near my workplace on Monday (when the coupon starts), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have it. If not, I guess I'll be out a fancy new box set, but keep my $120. :P

You can always ask for a raincheck if they don't have the item you want.

dmkb 05-31-08 08:10 PM

I tried that last December when I got the coupon for the Ford at Fox box set but they ran out of stock and it was a no go. I went to all three Costcos in our area and they all refused.
