Didn't find any Criterions today, but was happy to pick up The Addams Family (complete series) for only $24.99.

I got the latest Costco coupons in the mail yesterday, but unfortunately, there weren't any for DVDs.

I stopped in today (Portland, OR) and saw piles of classic box sets that haven't been stocked for a while, including:

Warner Film Noir Vols 1-4, $28.99 each
Warner Gangsters 1-2, $28.99 each
Jayne Mansfield Collection $15.99

Thanks SteveA. I'm going to to back and pick up that Jayne Mansfield box set, and also grab the a copy of the Criterion Days of Heaven since it seems to be pretty scarce at Movie Madness.

Oh, I forgot to mention, no metal boxes for the Cinema, Classics Collection, but they do come with fancy cardboard outer sleeves.

Been waiting on a price drop on the Film Noir Volume 4 so I snagged it. 10 noirs for 28.99 works for me.

I'll wait on picking up Film Noir Volume II. That boxset has only five films included and none really interest me. It is also the same price as the 10 noir set ... go figure.

In an attempt to prevent more idiots like me from double buying, I'll point out that the Gangsters Vol 2 is the same set as the earlier Warners Tough Guys set. Unfortunately, I broke the seal on the new set to reseat a disk that seemed to be flopping around. So if anyone in the Portland OR area (especially SE) wants a break on the price, send me a private message. Otherwise I'll donate it to my friend's beach house.

If you bought it at Costco, you can return it to Costco even if you opened it.

My Costco had quite a few Blu-ray titles, but there are really no savings at all. Hopefully this will change down the line.

I returned a opened Season 1 of The Wire because the 3rd episode wouldn't play properly and got a cash refund. I would've gotten another copy of Season 1, but they were all out.

FYI, they had select Warner Bros. Collector's Editions for $25.99:

Bonnie and Clyde
The Searchers (50th Anniversary)
Superman (Four-Disc SE)
Troy: Director's Cut

And maybe a couple others I can't quite recall.

Mine also had Dreamgirls Collector's Set that includes the 2-Disc DVD, Deluxe Edition CD and a theatrical booklet all for $19.99.

Today saw a nice assortment of big $44.99 WB sets including:

Hitchcock Signature set
Astaire & Rogers Complete Collection
Musicals from the Dream Factory V.3
Garbo Signature
(probably forgetting one or two...)

There was also an assortment of $39.++ WB sets which included:

Thin Man set
WB Gangsters Vol. 3
(There were more...)

Perhaps interestingly, I combed through the $25.99 WB assortment that has "Bonnie & Clyde", "Superman", "Troy: DC", "Blade Runner", etc., most of which were still there, EXCEPT the "Jazz Singer" set, which I know they had 10 days ago, but was now gone. I supposed they sold out of it, but considering all the other much more well-known titles were still there in abundance, I wonder if they were pulled from the shelves? I doubt it, and I hope not, but due to the sensitive nature of racial issues that movie deals with, it could be possible. Hmmm.

in the 44.99 assortment I also saw Chaplin vol2, a Boagrt set (5 movies with the 2-disc Casablanca and Treasure of the Sierra Madre included) and the first Doris Day box - I bought the Chaplin and the Astaire Rogers sets

in the 39.99 assortment I saw the Doris Day vol.2 set.

probably will breakdown and get the garbo set as I've been wanting it since it came out

something to consider the Jazz Singer has a ton of content that would be worthwhile in its own right and I believe the only title in that particular assortment not in available in hd

At my Costco (Nashua, NH) today, there was a sign showing $23 off (thru 4/27) for the purchase of Juno and the $60 iTunes pack. As Juno is only $21.99, this is a great deal for anyone who uses iTunes. Unfortunately, it did not appear to be valid with the BD or gift pack of Juno.

There also were numerous music BDs avaialble for $18.99. Some that I remember were David Gilmour, AC/DC Donington, Celine Dion, Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake ($17.99), and a few others I can't remember right now.

Might have been a return or the store did not change price. Seinfeld complete also was $140 at the store in Yonkers NY.

The Astaire Rogers , Hitchcock etc. are good prices but not the cheapest they have been at Costco. I got the Hitchcock for $42.99 at one time.
Sticker is still on set that I bought. I have noticed that prices of the Warner older box set bargains have gone up at Costco . I believe we were able to get the Thin Man box for about $27 a year or two ago and now it is with the $40 box sets.

With the US dollar worth less and less and most of the DVDs manufactured outside the USA, it is not surprising that prices are rising.

On the other hand, I did see some of the CD box sets from Sony/BMG that Costco usually has at Christmas such as Billy Joel greatest hits, Bruce Springstein and E Street Band, the complete Simon and Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, John Denver etc. which Costco usually sells for $27.99 were selling for $19.99.

I don't think I have ever seen the Garbo collection priced cheaper. Picked up on for $45. An incredible bargain. Costco and Sam's have always been my go-to for cheap WB boxsets.
