Best Deal on 2nd Wave of After Dark Horrorfest DVDs

I wanted to start a separate thread on the After Dark Horrorfest titles released this Tuesday.

There's a thread detailing a $3.99 sale on the old titles at Circuit City.

What is the best bet on the new titles? Is the Best Buy deal where you buy 8 titles for $70 the best deal out there?

As far as I can see, the Best Buy 8 titles for $70 is the best deal on these titles.

I think best buy is the best deal but I'm going to wait until the fall for these. They'll go down to $5 and I'm not in a rush to get these.

Pretty much.
Personally, I enjoyed all of them. They weren't great but they were better than some of the higher profile titles I'd been subjected to.

It'll be cheap b4 halloween. I'll rent all of them this week or next week and buy them whenever they drop it down $3.99 - $5

Just wait and get them all via a Columbia House enrollment package.

Nightmare Man was okay; it held my interest, and had a nice twist two thirds of the way in.

Lake Dead, however, was awful. I sat and watched it just to say I finished it.

I want to give all of you a heads up that go ASAP to Best Buy. I went the evening the first "wave" was released and Best Buy was sold out of half the titles.

Wal-Mart price matched all of it and I saved a few dollars on top of it as well.

I am going to try Best Buy on my lunch break, but will go to Wal-Mart on my way home from work (a new one just opened about 5 minutes from my house today, sigh) if the titles aren't in stock.

If you want to pick and choose from this batch instead of getting the pack, DVDEmpire has the individuals for $12, which seems to be the cheapest. I picked up Borderland, Nightmare Man, Crazy Eight and Lake Dead.

Half of them were awful to mediocre. Penny Dreadful was boring garbage, Unrest and Wicked Little Things were too cliche, Dark Ride was cheap fun until the last few minutes, and The Hamiltons was so offbeat that I'm still not sure if I liked it or not. However, Gravedancers was really fun even if the effects in last three minutes are godawful, Reincarnation was pretty damn freaky and shows that Shimizu is a much better director when he's not churning out Grudge movies, and The Abandoned was just a great horror movie all around. One of the best to come out in the last few years.

As for the second, I plan on getting them but haven't seen any yet. From what I hear, Unearthed, Lake Dead, and Tooth & Nail are the ones to best avoid, while the good ones seem to be Crazy Eights, Nightmare Man, Deaths of Ian Stone, and the one most people rave about is Mulberry Street. So hopefully that helps you out. I plan on going to Best Buy tomorrow to pick them up but I'm sure I'll get screwed out of the deal.

I just came back from Best Buy (with 20 minutes to spare on my lunch break).

They had about five to ten copies left of each title left.

For each title coming out to about $8.75, I just picked up all eight.

I still need to purchase The Abandoned, but not until I can get it for under $8.

My Wal-Mart had copies off these literally pouring off of the shelves. You would think they were the most recent Disney releases. They had each row filled and two or three copies of each movie laying on top of each row.
