No tax added here on Amazon orders. That is a helluva good price. DD has it for $54 which would be $43 if it stayed the same until the next 20% off but for the difference of $4 it's probably not worth waiting & chancing it.

Amazon only charges tax in four states I think.

I've read that this version is the same as the original release in 2001, but in slim cases.
And that the UK version that's available is remastered and better pic...

Can anyone verify? Or, just tell me if US version is 'good' for a late '60's show.

Oh wow, the newly remastered R2 version is available from Amazon.uk for only £33.69 with airmail shipping included to the US! That's only $67 shipped. This is the version to get. I just ordered one myself. Couldn't pass up for this price.

Got my R2 version of The Prisoner from amazon uk yesterday. Big thumbs up. Picture quality is much improved. Very informative 280 pg book too.

Blu-ray is region coded isn't it?

Yeah but some studios are region free. I'm not sure how the PAL/NTSC thing will play into this for BD players though.

I don't care what extras they have, ~ $3 per epsisode is still way too high for a 40-year old series.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $20 for this.

And if you were wondering, there are 17 episodes, each about 50 minutes in length.

It's an amazing show though. Can some reference me an article on this on bluray? I'm debating waiting or not.

Quality is worth paying for. This is one of the best TV series ever created. It's by no means an outrageous price and it's worth the price for fans. For people that are ambivalent about the series maybe it's only worth $20. But if you aren't a fan you won't miss not owning it anyway.

I'm waiting for the eventual Blu-ray release this year.

Any idea if this 40th Annversary edition will get a Stateside release? Price at Amazon.uk isn't bad (esp. now the dollar has rebounded a little). --Peter

I rented this set at netflix a few years back,it was so dark and grainy,I couldn`t watch it. I will wait for the blu-ray

I'm not sure this was ever that great of a deal... With the occasional DD BOGO sales, I think I purchased this for a little under $30. I could be wrong.

Regardless, there are still NEW copies for sale in amazon marketplace for about $41, including shipping. That's $6.50 better than the original sale price that Amazon had.

Are we paying by the minute now? What does age have to do with it? Should Lawrence of Arabia be expensive because it's long, or cheap because it's old?

I agree that $47 isn't a great price... I just think it's not a great price because it can be found cheaper (see above), rather than because it deserves to be found cheaper due to age or length.

You just missed the Amazon B1G1 by a couple weeks. It was $52 or $26 if you bought 2 copies.

It's part of the DD box sale (70% off) - $30 shipped. I don't think I've ever seen it cheaper new. If you are thinking of picking up the blu-ray, then this R1 version will definitely hold you over at a price that won't kill you.
